I love the code breakers series. Entertaining romantic with strong hero’s and heroines and lots of intrigue.
A Christmas Code by Jacki Delecki is the second book in the series and was another enjoyable read. I actually listened to the Audible version of this book narrated by Pearl Hewitt. Again Ms. Hewitt did a commendable job in giving each character their own distinctive voice throughout the story.
Since I had previously read the first book in this series, A Code of Love, I was intrigued in Gwyneth and Ash’s story of spies and adventure. Gwyneth was quite a smart and determined young woman for that time in England’s history. James Ashworth, a master spy for his country, was the typical male of that era but grew quickly to appreciate Gwyneth’s natural talents. I also enjoyed learning more about Amelia Bonnington and the mysterious Brimsely in this book.
Fast plot and enough twists to keep me guessing as to who were the villains in this plot kept me listening until the end. I am excited to read the next book in this series.
A Code of Wonder by Jacki Delecki is another sweet but adventurous story set in her Code Breakers series. Nicholas/Nash, Earl of Wessex rescues Eliza Lyon who has been kidnapped by French henchmen who mistake her for her sister Abby. Nash may be a bored rogue but once he begins to know Eliza he’s ready to make some major changes in his life. A fast paced plot, French henchmen, intrigue and romance. A perfect afternoon read.
I previously read this book in an anthology, SNOWED IN WITH A ROGUE, that was released in October, 2019.
A Holiday Code for Love by Jacki Delecki was an engaging read from beginning to end. Ms. Delecki never disappoints me when it comes to historical mysteries filled with suspense, love and intrigue set in the Regency period of England.
The plot is quickly paced as Jack and Abbie must help Lord Rathbourne set up a sting operation to find the head of the French spy network in London. I always enjoy visiting with these characters as the women in Ms. Delecki’s books are always intelligent, strong and dedicated to helping their husbands and family to thwart Napolean’s advances. Another action packed addition to the Code Breakers series.
A Christmas Code: I loved the story! The story was wonderfully told and kept the reader involved with the story line. I loved how Ash was trying to keep his lady safe, while Gwen was trying to prove that she wasn’t a wilted flower and able to pull her own weight in helping out. She jumped right in when she needed to help! The plot lines were never slow and the author was able to keep me interested throughout the whole series (that I read in 1 night).
A Code of Wonder: I loved the story of Nash and Eliza! The story wasn’t my normal read, I like the plot difference a lot! The only thing I didn’t like was the way the characters changed views every chapter with a quick recap from the previous actions. For me, that part wasn’t needed. The ending was extremely cute! Thank you for the copy.
A Holiday Code for Love:I loved the sound of the book before I got it. Christmas stories are always my favorite. This one was too much “lovey-dovey” with Abbie and Jack constantly thinking about how much they love each other and him each morning speaking about what they had just finished in the bedroom. Also, the premise was that Sabine would come thinking that Jack was tired of his bride. Except he never even tried to fake or act like that and he was a master spy? The “action” at the house just didn’t follow through for me and I never connected with the story. Thank you for the advance copy from the publisher.
Great books easy to read and very entertaining
In A Code of Wonder, Eliza is rescued from kidnappers by her own actions and those of Nash, a rogue Earl with a questionable reputation. Only that is just the beginning of their back and forth “rescuing” of each other. This is book #8 in Jacki Delecki’s Code Breakers series and is another fun addition. I have read a few of the books in this series and each one I read makes me want to read the entire series one of these days. I recommend this as a fun, short, easy read.
A Holiday Code for Love was my first book to read in the Code Breakers series and I now want to read the rest. Abbi and John are members of a group spying against Napoleon and the French army. They are tasked with inviting John’s former mistress to their Holiday party and entrap her and her cohorts in espionage. What could possibly go wrong? I had a good time reading about all the preparations and planning for the “mission”, plus watching John and Abbi grow closer in their recent marriage, while dealing with their insecurities. I look forward to reading more about these two and their family and friends.
I have not read the Christmas one yet.
