It’s the one thing that I never thought I’d do.I’m too young to get married.Too unwilling to give up my life.Especially to someone from the mob. When my parents sell me off to the Torenti family, I do everything I can to fight it, including running away.It doesn’t work out for me.Nevermind that when I’m not fighting Arlo, he makes me feel safe.Nevermind that he makes me feel something I’ve never … safe.
Nevermind that he makes me feel something I’ve never felt before.
He’s in the mafia and he wants more from me than just my hand in marriage.
He wants to rule over my body.
He wants me to give him children.
And now that he has me captured for his own, I don’t know if I can tell him no.
ARLO
There’s a few things about Hannah that I love:
1. She’s delicious.
2. She’s mine.
3. She’ll look great pregnant.
Do I want to get married? Hell, no.
But I want her warming my bed.
And after I save her from the repercussions of her stupid decisions I’m never letting her out of my sight.
This is standalone dark mafia book is an arranged marriage romance. It’s full of violence and crime as well as plenty of steam. If that sounds like something you’d like, then read on!

Cementing two Mafia families together…..whether they want to or not
Taken for His Bride is the second book in The Torenti Family series and is about Arlo Torenti and Hannah Del Rossi.
Hannah is eighteen years old and lives in Colorado and works as a copy writer during the day while going to college at night. She has come back to the family home to stay for a while to help her mother who has had surgery. Her father and brother have a construction company that has run into a “roadblock” with a company they originally contracted with so they have to find another company. The only way to get past this is to contract with the Torenti construction firm who actually do not want to work with them, as they went with their competitor originally. But there is a way to resolve this and it would mean that the two families are tied together.
Arlo Torenti runs the construction for the family. He has been told that he will be marrying the daughter of the Del Rossi family, someone he has never met. This is to tie the two families and businesses together thus allowing them both to stay afloat and become richer. He is not happy with this arrangement, especially since his older brother Roque will be taking over running the Mafia empire and businesses. So what will he get out of this deal by marrying a stranger?
Both Hannah and Arlo are told about their arranged marriage on the same evening. Arlo decides he needs to get drunk and leaves the family home ending up at The Claw and Crown, the family bar. Hannah has gone out for a walk and she ends up at The Claw and Crown ready to get a bottle of whiskey and sit in the corner. Well Arlo and Hannah meet each other not knowing they are their arranged spouses……………now the fun begins.
After reading the first book in the series, Taken for His Pleasure, I was looking forward to reading Taken for His Bride. I thought the story of Hannah and Arlo was interesting and had a good story-line with a few twists. But I was put off by the way Arlo continually uses the word “broad” over and over in a very mean and derogatory way. It just grated on me as there was no reason to do it, especially after they are married. For me I wanted to shake Hannah a lot and kick Arlo in the family jewels all the time. The book is well written it is just the main characters that got under my skin a lot.
I was going to write a pros section but it would literally be things I liked about the beginning because I couldn’t stand the rest of the book. I did really like the heroine of the story and for that alone I’ll give it 2 stars.
I’ve never read a book that I began to despise more and more as I kept reading but that’s what happened. I would have given the beginning of the book 4 stars. At fifty percent easily given it 5 stars but that all changed towards the end and it is all the hero’s fault, Arlo. I absolutely began to hate him. After everything they had been through (especially what she had been put through) and how he kept going on and on about how much she meant to him, she was his, they were going to make babies, blah blah blah and then bam. Something very simple caused an entire change of attitude with him. He was excited at the thought to be rid of her. Like really???
The heroine was referred to as a broad constantly throughout the entire book and it drove me a little crazy. When I say constantly, I mean it. I did a word count and it was said 67 times!!! By then I would have preferred absolutely any derogatory word for a woman as long as I didn’t have to read broad one more time. Also, there were a few things that didn’t add up with the story and didn’t make sense with past scenes/current scenes and that tends to be a pet peeve of mine. And lastly, this is just a personal preference but I do not like it when a man makes up the mind for a woman telling her if she is or isn’t to have his children. The hero told her repeatedly that he didn’t care if she wanted to or not that she was having his children.
I read dark romances all the time, I don’t have triggers with touchy subjects and I love dangerous, dominating men but Arlo was just a JERK.
