Great new book full of suspense would read more from this author
This is my first time reading something by this author. The summary of the book definitely caught my attention and I was intrigued. This is a wonderfully written psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much throughout the whole book – a definite page-turner for sure! There were many great plot twists throughout that I was anxiously turning the pages to see what would happen next. Towards the end, I could see where the story was headed, but that in no way took away from the suspense of the story. Great characters, well-developed, that really pull you in to the story. This was a really great read and I will definitely try something from this author again.

Cole Baxter has done it again. I’ve read every book pf his and each one keeps me guessing till the end. You can figure out part of the mystery, but there is always a “Baxter Twist”. Michael and Cynthia are a wealthy couple who had a child through a surrogate that has special needs. Cynthia needs help to take care of not only their son Grant, but their daughter Anna. They hire Helena who seems like a god send, but turns into their nightmare. The author weaves a suspenseful, twisty tale that is a page turner from start to finish. Well paced, great characters, this is the perfect “edge of your seat” read.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
The Perfect Nanny is an intense, suspenseful, psychological thriller that had me captivated from the first page until the last. This is one of those books that once I started it I couldn’t put it down until the last page, it’s that good. I enjoyed this book andit was an easy read. You get some background at the start which was really helpful and quickly get into the main story. Micheal and Cynthia, come across as caring parents, who are trying to do the best they can for thier children. Money is no issue, so hiring a nanny primarily to assist with their youngest child Grant who has childhood schizophrenia seems to be a good idea. When Helena comes along, she seems to be the answer to the problem. It’s clear right from the outset to readers that Helena is not who she appears to be. What follows is a well orchastrated set of events, of which each one in isolation might seem trivial, but together add up to a sinister picture. It’s not until these events get more serious that the pieces start falling into place. Have to admit that I did see the ending coming but that in no way detracted from a well written book.
This book is a well-written thriller. Did it have me gripping the pages of the book in fear? No. Was the book predictable? Yes. Is it still worth the time to read? Yes, most definitely. Altogether I’d say the was well-crafted and the characters were well developed.
