This is a well written book that hooks you on the first page. Once you start reading Jack and Laramie’s story you won’t be able to put it down. A wonderful read!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading An Unexpected Arrangement by Heidi McCahan. This author knows exactly how to portray the feelings of being overwhelmed by infant twins and of being totally smitten with them. I don’t normally care for the surprise baby trope, but this was handled in such a way that I did like it. I encourage you to give this one a try as it is extremely well done. Jack and Laramie are fleshed out to the point that you will feel like you could join them for a cup of coffee at Angie’s Diner and totally enjoy the time spent with them. There’s a great HEA for this couple.
I am hoping that Ms. McCahan writes about Laramie’s brother Landon next. I’m very curious about his story.
I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this delightful romance.
Jack feels guilty about the death of his father and plans to leave his small town hoping to escape the guilty feelings until he finds out that his irresponsible ways have left him a father of twin girls. He is overwhelmed but his older sister’s best friend Laramie steps in to help him with the girls and being that he has crushed on her for years never thinking she may have feelings for him have now brought them together. Loved how Jack was able to step up and be the father his girls needed and loved Laramie with her loving and caring heart for the sweet girls.
A prodigal returns
My rating is 3.5 stars
Jack was so ready to wipe the dust of the small town he grew up in off his feet and start fresh in a place where his past didn’t confront him every day. And when he unexpectedly becomes a single dad, things really get complicated.
I liked the way Laramie cared for those around her. It was a deeply embedded part of her nature. Her interactions with the adorable twins were very sweet!
I was touched by Jack’s desire for forgiveness and a chance to go back in time to change his last encounter with his dad. He carried so many burdens and so much guilt! However, his tendency to run away when things got rough made it difficult for others to trust him.
Laramie’s brother Landon had an unsolved mystery, which could be a hint that he will be the hero in an upcoming story, however, there were other situations that I was expecting to be resolved which were not. Also, the ending felt a bit rushed. I had a difficult time believing Laramie would have just ignored all the things that had her concerned about Jack.
An Unexpected Arrangement is a serious story with lots of introspection.
If you enjoy small-town romance about second chances, consider adding this to your library.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed An Unexpected Arrangement by Heidi McCahan. I’ve never had twin babies dropped off on my door but it was a great way of showcasing the main characters. Jack who tends to run away when things get tough is expected to take responsibility for his twins. Will he or will he dump them on Laramie who takes care of everyone? Secondary characters in Laramie and Jack’s families test how much these two can or will handle. Great scenes with the babies – you can imagine being in the room.
I received this as an ebook for free from the author. I was not required to leave a review. All opinions are my own.
An unexpected arrangement
In An unexpected arrangement Jack got a surprise when he found out he had twins girls. He got Laramie to help take care of them. Laramie did such a great job taking care of the babies. I loved Laramie, how much she loved the babies and her family. She especially cared for grandparents. Jack’s babies were so cute. Will Jack and Laramie find love ?
I enjoyed this book so much. Having babies and dogs in it made the book so much fun to read.
I received an advanced copy of the book from the author. The book review is my opinion.
4 1/2 STARS!
A ready-made family! AN UNEXPECTED ARRANGEMENT by Heidi McCahan is a delightful read for anyone who loves a sweet connection, adorable babies and happily ever afters. Great characters paved the way for an intensely emotional story. There were a few spots that could have been developed a tad more, but overall it was a highly enjoyable solid read.
Jack is a sweetheart. He’s easy to like, easy to sympathize with and a joy to get to know.
Laramie brings such a refreshing aspect to Jack’s life and it’s adorable to watch them both fall for these surprise babies … and each other!
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet, faith-based romance.
Happily-ever-after
Unexpected surprise, twin babies, and the best nanny – I loved this story!
“Did he want a mother for his twins? And could Laramie be the one?“
“While he couldn’t change the mistakes of his past, he was tired of letting his regret shackle him. Keeping him isolated and a prisoner to the shame he couldn’t escape.”
Another heart-warming contemporary romance from Heidi McCahan. This story follows Jack Tomlinson as he struggles to climb out from the boulder of guilt after his father’s death and tries to make better choices and decisions instead of being the impulsive, irresponsible youngest child he’s been labeled. Laramie is his friend and his older sister’s best friend who loves others through acts of service but has deep hurts from the past that prevent her from trusting in Jack’s feelings for her. Jack’s newfound twin daughters are adorable and this mom’s heart totally empathized with Jack’s love for his girls but also his daily trials and difficulties. This is book 2 in the Merritt’s Crossings series (first book was about Jack’s older sister Skye) but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed my return trip to this small town in Colorado and hope to see more of Drew, Jack’s brother, in another book centered around this lovely family.
I received a copy of the book from the author/publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
More of a 3.5 stars story
This story belongs to Jack Tomlinson and Laramie Chambers.
Jack and Laramie have been friends for many years. She’s his oldest sister’s best friend, and he is the boy that secretly has had a crush on her what seems like forever.
But this seemingly irresponsible, impulsive goofy guy, has been struggling with the deaths of his uncle and father. Jack believes he caused his father’s death. The pressures of his family wanting him to work in the family business and his guilt have propelled him to search for a job in another city.
But his life is turned upside down when he discovers he has twins and will now be responsible for them.
In comes Laramie to the rescue. While she helps Jack, her true feelings start showing but he’s leaving and she has responsibilities at home and work.
This was a story about family , feelings of guilt, taking responsibility, and finding love.
I have to confess that it took me a while to both get into the story and warm up to Jack and Laramie.
For me it was more of a 3.5 stars story but I respect the author’s work and dedication and for that I will give it 4 stars.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own,
This is a great book if you’re looking for a lighthearted, faith based read. The book deals with a man unexpectedly finding out he is a father to twin baby girls. He in turn has to learn to be a father and to deal with some issues from his past, all while falling in love with the female friend who steps up to help care for his baby girls.
People who love the Love Inspired books will enjoy this one, and anyone looking for a fun, light read would enjoy it too.
Jack is a mess: he’s workaholic, he loves women, but only for a little time, he avoids relationships and responsabilities, he plans to leave his parents village
and live in Utah.
Life is so strange, something unexpected could change the routine and the plans.
Lovely, realistic, well written story, you’ll love the characters, enjoy!
An Unexpected Arrangement, by Heidi McCahan is a sweet romance. Jack Tomlinson is a carefree bachelor living the life he wants. Laramie Chambers (love the name) is the “responsible one” who always puts others needs first. Both have reasons behind their lifes’ paths, both have unresolved issues governing their choices.
This is a wonderful story of love, growth, family, faith and community. How do two people, who have known each other forever, yet are so different on the surface, come together in compromise? Throw in unexpected twins, a past full of misunderstandings and hurt feelings, and an unwillingness to openly communicate until it’s almost too late and you will appreciate the character growth in this story.
The characters are well developed and the conflict is very realistically portrayed. I enjoyed reading this story and anticipating how it would resolve to the happily ever after. I recommend this story and this author to anyone who enjoys Christian romance.
I received a copy of this book from the author without expectation of a favorable review. The opinions expressed are my own.
This is a sweet love story between Jack and Laramie. The author brings strong characters and weaves a small town romance with a couple surprises for Jack. It’s a story of friends ,family and love found at the most unexpected time. It’s well written with perfectly painted scenes ,moves fluidly and is an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
