Highland Secrets
Furious and weary, Angus Shea wants out, but he can’t stop the magic powering his visions. The Celts kidnapped him when he wasn’t much more than a boy. He’s sick of them and their endless assignments, … them and their endless assignments, but they erased his memories, and he has no idea where he came from.
Arianrhod prefers to work alone and guards her privacy for the best of reasons. She’s not exactly a virgin, and she’d be laughed out of the Pantheon if the truth surfaced. Despite the complications of leading a double life, she’s never found a lover who tempted her to walk away from the Celtic gods.
Dragon shifters are disappearing from the Scottish Highlands. The Celtic Council sends Angus and Arianrhod to Fire Mountain, the dragons’ home world. Attraction ignites, so urgent Arianrhod’s carefully balanced life teeters on the brink of discovery.
Can they risk everything?
Will they?
If they do, can they live with the consequences?
To Love a Highland Dragon
A dragon shifter stirs and wakens deep in the Scottish Highlands. His cave is the same and his hoard intact, yet something’s badly amiss. Lachlan ventures above ground—and wishes he hadn’t. His castle is gone, replaced by ungainly row houses. Men aren’t wearing plaids, and women scarcely wear anything at all, particularly the woman who accosts him with unseemly banter. What manner of wench is she to dress so provocatively?
In Inverness for a year on a psychiatry fellowship, Dr. Maggie Hibbins watches an oddly dressed man pick his way out of a thicket. He looks so lost—and so unbelievably, knock-out gorgeous—she takes a chance and stands him a meal. Lachlan’s shock when he picks up a local newspaper is so palpable, Maggie jumps in with both feet.
The hard-to-accept truth bashes gaping holes in her equilibrium. He looks odd, sounds odd, acts odd because he’s a refugee from another era. Born of powerful witches, Maggie runs headlong into the myth and magic that are her birthright.

Book 1 – This is my first trip into one of author Ann Gimpel’s Highlander worlds. I love Highlander stories, as well as, Dragon Shifter ones, and I would never believe the two could be put together so well. Gods, shifters, magic, evil, even time travel exist in the world of Dragon Secrets. Then you throw in impossible love, which of course leads to amazing sex, well all I can say is how can you pass this up. The story plot and the background work makes everything flow great. The characters, whether they be good, evil, human or dragon are wonderfully written and leave you wanting more. I don’t do spoilers so I hope this is enough to make you go and get the book. I know I can’t wait to dip into this world again and come out dripping with gorgeous highlanders, dragons, and all that comes with this wonderful story.
Book 2 – A shifter dragon has been under a sleeping curse for nearly 300 years, needless to say, his reaction to his castle being gone, cars zooming by, pollution, women who he thinks are dressed like harlots, cell phones and OMG planes, well it’s a little overwhelming. Thank goodness the person who first runs into him, takes it all in stride when she sees a gorgeous, but rather strangely dressed, slightly smelly and apparently has a bit of a mental problem, man show up seemingly from the bushes where she’s walking by. The questions here is why are they not running in opposite directions, but instead seem to be drawn to each other. Although they seem to like each other physically, they both are leery but are willing to listen to each other’s stories. They discover they each have not only secrets but powers and they must now work together to stay alive from the evil that is still trying to destroy him. Along the way, they meet fascinating people, both family and friends, whose help they’ll need. Meanwhile, the feelings they have for each other grow and they learn that not even hundreds of years can keep them apart. This is a great love story, filled with funny moments that just happens to involve dragons, witches, both good and bad ones, funny and oh so serious ones. If you read the first book in the series, you’ll run into some of the characters in this story. It may seem like I’ve given a lot of spoilers but I’ve just given the highlights; you’ll have to read to get the full exciting, funny, and so sensual story moments that happen in between my lines. I highly recommend this story to all who love not only highlanders but dragons, witches, comical scenarios, and beautiful, romantic love.
Highland Secrets****
Angus & Ari, these two secret lovers have a lot going on. Since I read this series out of order, this now explains more to me about Jonathan (Dragon Maid). Its reads like an intro to a series with a romance twist, lol…great start to a great series!! Very interesting, I would love to have some dragon tears & time travel nodes.
To Love a Highland Dragon*****
Love this dynamic duo!! Although this isn’t quite time-travel, its similar to that theme, which is one of my favorite genres, with the added bonus of lots of magic. The plot is very interesting with very unique characters to help build up the plot. As these two learn from one another, naturally, everyone isn’t happy for this couple. Lachlan and his cool dragon Kheladin are a great, not to mention sexy. Maggie is smart & very independent but blunders her way through to bloom into the woman/mate she was always meant to be.
