Evie sailed into life at Pentecost Island excited to have a place to belong after ten years of living alone on her boat. When her brother’s best friend— who also happens to be her ex-husband— turns up on Pentecost island to convince Evie it is time to go back home to her family, she is faced with a choice that may mean the difference between life and death for someone she once loved.
I truly am loving my trips to Pentecost Island and finding out more about the girls who are working hard on the resort, these girls are there for each other but each of them have a past that needs to be sorted for them to move on and this one is Evie’s story and I loved it.
Evie had been sailing around alone for ten years and arrived at Hamilton Island in the Whitsunday’s and met up with some old university friends and this was the start of a new life for Evie, she loves helping to build the resort up and having friends there for her, but when someone from her past arrives with news that shocks her, her life again is turned upside down.
Jed Stephenson has arrived on Pentecost Island looking for Evie, she left him ten years ago but he has never stopped loving her he has followed her life to make sure she is well for years but now he has news that she really needs to know about it is a matter of urgency.
This story is filled with emotion as Evie and Jed both come to terms about the love that had never faded it was just put away for a while, but Evie must decide whether she goes back home to the place that she had always felt trapped in, but there is only one answer and as Jed and Evie rekindle their love and Jed moves to the Whitsunday’s life is beautiful for them both. Thank you MS Seaton for another great read, bring on the next one.
I really enjoy this series, and this one was no exception.
Evie’s story is written in two time frames, now and from 10 yrs ago. Her back story was interesting and explained a lot. The question is will her past catch up with her and can she be happy?
She and her ex had to follow their own paths and grow up. You don’t have to live your life making other people happy. A tragic circumstance will change their lives.
Of course we had the other characters at this blissful island, the resort is coming along nicely.
Great story, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
*spoilers*
This story sure started off with a bang. I loved it. It took me awhile to warm up to Jed, but I eventually did. This was a lovely second chance romance. There is a blood cancer theme that hit me really hard as less than two months ago I donated stem cells. I loved the bits and pieces of the process that were included in this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
EVIE#5 is a standalone read in the Pentecost Island series with a happy ever after. There are no sexy scenes or colorful language so any age can read and enjoy. Three friends set out to build a resort on an island that was inherited by one of the girls. They have worked hard for a year and it is all starting to pay off. Other women have joined the group to expand their services.
Evie is the landscaper. She is really good and has made the island a show place with her flowers and trees. She is the quiet one, choosing to sleep on her sailboat she keeps to herself a lot. She is best friends with the owner and when she arrived at the island she knew she was home.
Everything comes crashing down when a male guest on the island approaches Evie. She screams, gets hysterical and then takes off for her boat. She set sail and no one knows where she is and if she is coming back. The man was her husband. They have been separated for 8 years and every time he finds her she moves to another place. Pippa knows him and their situation and she talks with him to find out why he is on the island and why he is insisting Evie return to her hometown.
This is the best book so far. There is mystery, adventure, sadness, it touches on cancer and bone marrow and of course love between two people that are total opposites – or so they think. To say too much would give the story away and this is one you have to read. I found it very entertaining and could not put it down once I started. It is a great read and I highly recommend it. This whole series is a great set of stories.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/28/2020
