Oh I have been hoping we’d get a story for Storm North and Susan Stoker has given us such a gift with Securing Jane!
Jane is charming, Storm is everything, and together they’re perfection. I love that this is about a slightly older couple, and how that doesn’t in any way detract from that fierce connection you can establish with anyone at any point and completely out of the blue. And their connection, their CHEMISTRY? Priceless.
There’s drama, there’s intrigue, but mostly, there is a blossoming relationship with open and honest communication and I adored witnessing it on the page!
You won’t regret this delightful extra story giving us more of the amazing world created by Susan!
Jane and Storm’s romance is absolutely wonderful. Their relationship is realistic and filled with passion. This novella is action-packed with danger, suspense and mystery. A very entertaining read that is well written with amazing characters. This is my first book by Susan Stoker and it definitely won’t be my last.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review
Thanks for this book! Sometimes I want to read a Novella instead of a 350 page book filled with unnecessary verbiage. Instead of suffering through midlife crises, this story-line takes it on with gusto. Find something or someone new; look for different friends; experience new entertainment; and, maybe fall in love. That was Jane and that was Storm North. A match no one expected, especially themselves, but they loved every moment they had together. I loved the older viewpoint; I smiled so many times while reading “togetherness;” and, I so appreciated The End that contained so much feeling.
This book, was so good. As soon as it dropped on my kindle I had to read it, yes that was during the early morning hours… This book has a HOT Navy SEAL Commander North, and Jane who works on base in the mail room.. Sparks fly between them. There is a bomb scare, action and romance that heat up the pages. Commander North, is everything, he is a HOT, Protective, APLHA and he cooks.
It was fun/exciting to see North with Jane is such a hard but fair commander with his SEALS but with Jane he is so sweet. Oh add in a crazy lady, who goes after Jane all Bricks hit the fan.. North and Jane are so perfect for one and another…. Just FYI once you start this, you will not stop till the ending…. Oh and have a glass of something cold near you, with this read… North is so HOT!
1001 Dark Nights has never let me down. Each carefully woven tale a new chance to fall in love all over again
Jane has raised her family. Done the marriage game and has acceptant that she would spend her final years single. She was okay that – didn’t mean she couldn’t still fantasize and occasionally ‘oogle’ a smexy specimen especially one that may or may not be on her morning route.
Storm had always been invested in his job. That and his men were his sole focus in life. He never noticed how much he missed having someone to share the little things with until his friends began to settle down.
Then one day he looked up
These two were the perfect match. It is rare I find both main characters mature in age. They had both experienced the early ups and downs of life. Relationships. Careers. Family. Adulting.
Leaving them both knowing what they wanted from life or in Storm’s case finally seeing what had been in front of him for so long
I enjoyed the steady pace of their relationship. It was fast but not (once you read it that statement will make sense)
The connection between them was almost tangible.
Noah was such a sweet partner. He wanted Jane something fierce now that he had her in his sights yet he still respected her boundaries – Took the time to show her how important she was to him
Tender – Attentive – Smexy –
but when Jane is in danger?
His training kicks in and nothing will stop him from protecting the woman he loves.
This was engaging from the opening scene and kept the fast pace throughout the story. Packed with action, little twists, and plenty of romance.
Jane has had a low key crush on Storm North forever it seems. The days when she brings mails up to his office are the highlights she keeps in mind. Still, she knows he’d never, has never, go for a plain 50+ woman like her, not when he’s a hard-bodied SEAL commander. But somehow, one day, he starts what seems like flirting with her, and asks her out. She’s not sure what changed, but she’ll gladly take it, even if in the back of her mind she’s wondering why and what. Then a horrible accident on base happens, and Storm’s protective instincts are brought forth, and Jane’s at the forefront of his mind. Can he protect her, and convince her he only wants her?
I always love it when I can read a romance about a couple older than 20 or 30 something, and I love it even more when it’s as well-written and excellent as Securing Jane is. Jane is such a sweetheart, so relatable, and perfect with and for Storm. Not only do they share similar views and likes and interests, but both are at a time in their lives when they are ready for something concrete and committed, so when they fall it feels real. I haven’t read any of the other stories in the SEAL of Protection series, but after having read and loved this one, I will definitely be going back and downloading them.
4.25 stars—SECURING JANE is the last instalment in Susan Stoker’s contemporary, adult SEAL of Protection: Legacy romantic suspense series, and the latest addition in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is SEAL Admiral Storm North, and fifty-one year old, mail room civilian contractor Jane Hamilton’s story line. SECURING JANE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Jane and Storm) SECURING JANE follows the building romance and relationship between SEAL Admiral Storm North, and fifty one year old, mail room civilian contractor Jane Hamilton. Jane Hamilton has had a ‘crush’ on Commander Storm North for as long as she can remember but one morning Storm North took an interest in our story line heroine, an interest that would find Storm up close and personal when a mail bomb, intended for Rear Admiral Creasy, blows up and injures Jane Hamilton in the process. Hoping to get closer to our story line heroine, Storm North, begins a slow seduction of the woman that is calling to his heart. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Storm and Jane, and the potential fall-out as Jane and Storm become collateral damage in the vendetta against Rear Admiral Creasy.
Jane Hamilton never expected to find love again, least of all at the age of fifty-one. Her first marriage had been failure, and the one positive, her daughter, struggled in the aftermath of her parent’s divorce. Storm North had been married to the job. As the commander to several teams of Navy SEALs, Storm never had time for love or marriage but now that he was no longer going on overseas missions, Storm watched from the sidelines as his men found love. Lonely, looking for his own happily ever after, Storm goes after our story line hero but almost loses her before their relationship truly begins. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Several of the previous story line male characters play secondary and supporting characters. As Storm introduces his fellow SEAL team members to our story line heroine, Jane slowly overcomes some of her issues of low self esteem, including the negative body image and ageism.
SECURING JANE is a story of vengeance and retaliation; mystery and suspense; romance and love. The premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are mature, energetic, and enjoyable-there was never any conflict between our leading couple.
Delivering mail to Storm is the bright spot in Jane’s day. Workaholic Storm doesn’t notice Jane until one day he does. He recognizes the same longing for companionship in her that he feels. He plans to get to know Jane slowly, but fate has other plans.
Often the stories in novellas feel rushed or incomplete, and the characters aren’t well defined, but not this one. Securing Jane maintains a tightly focused plot while delving into Storm and Jane — their backstories and motivations. The storyline moves at a fast but reasonable pace, and the reader develops a very good sense of who Jane and Storm are. This novella delivers a complete story with well-developed characters.
I enjoyed this mature romance between two great characters. I liked the way Storm appreciates Jane for who she is and builds up her self image. I loved how protective he is of her. Jane knows what she wants and goes after it when the opportunity presents itself.
Securing Jane is a good preview of the series for those like me who are new to it. I definitely recommend this quick read with the right mix of suspense and romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an early copy of this book. This review reflects my unbiased, honest opinion.
