We won. But at what cost?
I’ve been swimming in a sea of storms for so long now, surrounded by darkness, that it hardly feels like a victory. It was just one fight in the new war. The Old Gods are still coming, and they won’t be playing nice. Which means we have to do everything within our power to play for keeps.
Vampires, witches, werewolves, fae, dragonkind… the first Supernatural War saw … first Supernatural War saw us at each other’s throats. But if we don’t work together, the second Supernatural War will see our end. All of us.

The title is particularly appropriate as Storm Warden Vera keeps throwing her heart into every action, Eli and Zezza right behind her, as they lurch from decision to decision, crisis to crisis, to the grand finale. Perhaps she throws a little too much heart and not enough thought into each decision …
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
OMG, I don’t want it to end!
**SPOILERS**
“Heart of the Storm” feels like the last book in the “Storm Warden Chronicles” series, but not, it leaves itself open for a new book in the Chronicles series. “Heart of the Storm” is fast-paced with a captivating and engaging conclusion to this storyline that bursts with drama, action, intrigue, tension, danger and suspense spirals, jolting this tale to a whole new level delighting the reader and takes our favorite characters to new levels of magic and intensity. The concept of the God of the Undead attaching itself to someone is an intriguing concept that Jessica Gunn used to play with the senses, emotions, and reality that added spice to this tale. You almost didn’t know whom to trust! My heart broke when Vera and Eli talked with the God of the Storm Dragon, I kept hoping for a different conclusion. This tale draws out your emotions

Zezza rocks….
… what? You still don’t know who Zezza is…. have you really been living under a rock? Then you are excused while you go back in the series, pick the first book and get acquainted with her. No, I will not tell you to pick the rest, you’ll do that on your own nevertheless
The fourth and final installment on the “Storm Warden Chronicles Series” by Jessica Gunn, “Heart of the Storm” is a delight from star to finish and a fully propitious end to an already very successful series. Still asking yourself who Zezza is? Zezza is, of course the dragon. Now you are wondering if that is a series about dragons? Well yes, and not…. Let me explain…
… technically the series follows the adventures of Vera Varrone-Donovan a somehow strangled daughter of the Varrone-Donovan Financial clan, which back at the beginning of the series have the fortuitous idea to gain freedom from her family by winning a very high-stakes poker game at the joint she was working at the moment and fleeing the city. She won…. an egg, which promptly turned into Zezza, and from there on Verra has been thrown out into a non-ending adventure trying to save the dragons from their enemy, the world from the Old-Gods and generally speaking everybody from themselves.
Ultimately Verra won, but at a cost that could be to high to pay and to heavy to bear. The first Supernatural War has already been fought…. Time for the Second One? The problem is: Verra knows that should really a Second Supernatural War take place, nobody has a chance to win, and everything will be lost in the end, so she does what she is best at…. Throw herself in the mix, hoping for the best, expecting the worst and saving everyone from everyone else and him/herself in the process. And which role plays Zezza in all of that? Now you ask? If you don’t know yet… pick the first book and work from there…. I do not like to repeat myself but… you…. will… thank… me… later I am partial to Zezza? Absolutely, I witness her birth with my own two eyes…. and you will love her too, as you will Verra, who is one of the most compelling urban fantasy heroines of our times.
Jessica Gunn has, true to character, created a wonderful world, filled with dragons, witches, faekind, shifters, vampires and everything else in between, which is fun to read and a joy to be part of, even if only for the time we got immersed in the story… and now the most sceptical of you would ask… does have any flaws…. Well… there is in fact one…. it ends …. But I guess the old adagio is true after all “all good things must come to an end”.
