What a journey I was treated too. The h/H seemed like real people and not caricatures. I enjoyed their honest conversations, even though some may hurt. This can be a stand alone.
I had a slight problem there was no mention of worry she might be pregnant from her husband. I know she was an innocent, but certainly the H would have questioned if this was possible or not.
This is filled with all kinds of turmoil, that will certainly hold your interest. There are fight scenes, suspense, twists and strong character’s. Our h takes responsibility for her actions and makes no excuses. You can see as the chapter’s go by how she is maturing and not sitting by to be rescued. She takes her life in her own hands and is smart in doing so.
Our H isn’t from the Ton. He is a spy for the Crown, doesn’t get rewarded for his work. Knows he was born in a brothel and won’t be able to be with the h. Oh, how I enjoyed their falling in love. Romance builds slowly and their is lovemaking outside of marriage, heat level 5 out of 5 and described a few times.
No cheating, interesting main and secondary character’s, HEA, romance and steam. (ljb)
Starring Ridge Claymore and Lady Isabella Resenfeld
Ridge and Isabella are from different social statuses. He’s a bastard raised in a brothel and she’s a daughter of a Marquess. He’s also an agent of the Crown who needs Isabella’s cooperation in apprehending her husband (who she eloped with and who abandoned her a few days after their anvil wedding… I know, right?!). Anywho, Isabella and Ridge try to fight off their delicious attraction for one another amid all the intrigue…. but love wins in the end.
This was an absolutely fantastic story with a lot of “did not see that coming” plot twists!! I also think that this is Tabetha Waite’s hottest book yet(you go, girl)! So grab a fan. This is the second book in the Season of the Spinster series and totally can be read as a stand-alone… but you’re definitely going to want to read all about these fascinating women and their swoon-worthy heroes.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.
My Star Rating: 4 1/2 stars
Book was great. Loved the characters. Gave me the feels and aaaaaaalmost made me cry in some parts.
An adventure that begins right from the start as Tabetha Waite uses her magical pen to weave a tale of spies, deceit, a villian intent on using our heroine, Lady Isabella and a handsome hero that comes to her rescue. Albeit to use her as leverage to capture her new husband who is a French spy. Oh yes what a tangled web, but a delightful one as Isabella struggles with her attraction to Ridge Claymore.
After all, he kidnapped her himself and said he had been sent to protect her. She would just be used again, to capture her new husband!
I loved every word of this story, which is not a surprise because I feel the same every time I read a book by Tabetha!
So sit back, relax and be prepared to not stop reading until you turn the last page with a sigh!!
Isabella’s Secret Summer, by Tabetha Waite is one of her best historical romances to read to date. Tabetha’s writing is exceptional in this book. Her talent sores up there to becoming a legendary writer in historical romance. This is another book that I simply couldn’t put down, until the last page was read. The details of the book catered to my imagination.
I was swept away into the adventurous, romantic love story of Isabella and Ridge. Again, Tabetha’s writing is smooth and flawless. The book was easy to read at each turn of the page. I love how Tabetha’s writing doesn’t try to impress her readers with flamboyant words. Tabetha speaks to her readers at the level that they long for when reading a good romantic love story.
The plot and story line is on point. I loved the mystery, suspense and high action. These must haves are placed well within the book, keeping the reader wanting to know what’s going to happen next. The details and sounds of Isabella residing at the top of the castle to look at the ocean was beautiful.
It’s as though when Tabetha wrote these scenes, you could visualize Isabella standing there, with her red hair flowing in the wind. I loved how she introduced a number of characters. Each character had their own background that piques the readers interest to know more about them. In doing this, Tabetha was able to separate the characters from getting lost in the background. Avoiding the reader to wonder, what happened to that person. Tabetha wants her readers to stay focused on the main characters and not to feel as though they may have missed something in the story. Isabella’s and Ridge love story is one of adventure. From the moment that they where off, they had to doge sharp edge blades and bullets. During this time Ridge and Isabella steal passionate kisses and rendezvous with each other. These elicit rendezvous are very naughty and oh so steamy.
I see now why the ocean comes to play in this book. It’s so that Ridge could dunk himself in it every time he has a twitch for Isabella. And with Ridges lustrous thoughts for Isabella, he needed the whole ocean.Yes my fellow readers. I recommend this book, with two snaps and a twist.
Until next time my fellow readers… read on! I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
What an entertaining story with wonderful main and secondary characters. I enjoyed it so much, read it straight through & couldn’t flip the pages quickly enough.
Lady Isabella Resenfeld, is the daughter of a marquis & her mother only wishes for Isabella to marry a title within the ton to keep their family status. Isabella, instead runs off with a charming, handsome viscount to Gretna Green – her infatuation with him is soon brought to a halt when he beds her, takes her dowry and abandons her at the inn. When she starts her trek back to London, she is accosted by a man claiming he is taking her to protect her from her husband who will come back to claim her and sell her to the French.
Mr. Ridge Claymoore was born on the wrong side of the blanket & his mother died giving birth to him – a friend of his mother took pity on him & raised him in the brothel she owned. After growing up he was approached to come to work for the Home Office & after years of dangerous spying, the thrill and excitement is growing old. Now he has been assigned to protect Isabella from the English traitor but after meeting the copper-haired beauty, he may have to protect his heart from her.
Ridge & Isabella know the growing desire they have for one another will never be accepted but can they fight it? The adventures, dangers and society rules won’t make their road to a HEA easy. I highly recommend this well written & entertaining book by Ms. Waite.
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
What a ride! Lady Isabella Wistenberry has been abandoned by her new husband. Ridge Claymoore is an agent for the crown who is looking for Viscount Wistenberry, a traitor. When Ridge arrives at the White Horse Cellar hoping to capture Wistenberry, he finds only Isabella. He takes her with him to protect her and to lure her husband out of hiding. This is the beginning of a well-written and rousing story filled with intrigue, danger, and romance. It has twists and turns, secrets and surprises. There are spies, traitors, smugglers, and pirates. Isabella and Ridge have absolutely nothing in common, but the chemistry between them is sizzling. Opposites truly attract. The secondary characters are super. Mr. and Mrs. Hopper take care of them and give romance a nudge. Logan Montgomery, another agent, is here to work with Ridge. There is a lot of danger and action, but there are also some tender moments as secrets are revealed. I love Isabella and Ridge’s story. Don’t miss it.
Isabella elopes to Gretna Green, only to be abandoned by her husband days later. Ridge is a spy, looking for her wastrel husband, and offers to help get her back home. Lots of twists, turns, and surprises. I received an ARC of this book.

This is the second book in the series & could easily be read on its own. A fast paced book that at times left me breathless. A very well written book with strong characters. I loved both Isabella & Ridge who whilst from totally different backgrounds were so right for each other. I loved how Isabella coped with everything that was thrown at her & believe there was a lot. I loved how they challenged each other whilst all the time their attraction was growing. A delightful, enthralling read & I can’t wait for more

My review :
When unwillingly entangled in a web of deceit, will she come out unscathed …
If you’re looking for an adventure, pick this one book.
There is everything in it, spy, fortress, kidnapping, pirates, traitors, twists and turns and so on…
Plus a resilient leading heroine and hero in need of a good redeeming.
Isabella made the mistake to believe the wrong man, after years as a wallflower, she was an easy pray to be swept off her feet by the first man singling her out. And while his betrayal is even bittersweet, I liked she faces her own issue and recognizes she is not exempt of faults.
In her eagerness to escape a spinster’s fate, she readily followed a cad.
She also refuses to become a victim, she tries as much as she can to take her destiny in hands, and while her attempts are often thwarted, it does not kill her spirit.
Ridge while not having known his parents, is aware about where he comes from and it is as much a different one than a Marquess’ daughter’s. Why he tried to distance himself from Isabella when their chemistry hits the charts.
He is an enigma, a restless youth, so much he enrolled on a ship, but when it was not enough again adventure, he became a spy. Is it his absence of identity that unsettles him, still he has roots, they might not be from blue blood, but his upbringing made him the man he is now, honorable with any damsel in distress.
And while Isabella is in need of a good rescue, she is no shivering miss. She fights back when she is able.
Their relationship is full of ups and downs, both afraid of the rift between their two worlds. The London’s ton is a very unforgiving lot.
And while they have their doubts, I liked they were not easily defeated, they make errors, they tell things that hurt one another but they are also enough mature to understand when they are wrong.
Mrs Waite rises the entertainment to a top notch with Isabella and Ridge’s story, be ready to embark in their full of actions’ journey.

This book is an adventure from beginning to end. It will grip you at the start and keep you hanging on for an exciting ride. The second story in this series starts us back with Ridge Claymore. Ridge is also known as One-Eye who is a spy, but the good kind. He is in search of Lady Isabella who has made the worst decision of her life. This decision brings her out of her spinster shell and she discovers her inner strengh, but will it be enough? A must read.
