Zach and Sara are best friends and have been so since they were teenagers. When Zach finally made it big with his business, he overlooked Sara for other women that is until he saw another man take interest in her which had him rethinking what he really wanted in life. Now that his feelings for Sara are solidified for him, has Zach waited too late to make Sara his own? This is a great story and will have you cheering Sara on towards her happily ever after. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Zach and Sara have been best friends since they were 15 when Zach moved in next door. They have kept up their tradition of eating pizza together every single Friday night no matter what has been going on in their lives. They share everything with one another support each other unconditionally. Zach has worked hard to make a name for himself in his marketing career and he’s finally there. Sara, with Zach’s encouragement and support, got her degree in Library Science and has a job working in the small town of her choosing. Sara has been in love with Zach for several years but Zach hasn’t slowed down enough to even think about what he wants outside of his career, until now. Sara is tired of waiting around for Zach. She wants love and a family and has decided she can no longer wait for Zach. When Zach sees her out with another man, he realizes that Sara is his. Now he just has to figure out how he can convince Sara he is sincere.
This is a wonderful best friends to lovers story. The relationship that Zach and Sara have are one all married couples hope for when they get married. Fox does a great job of showing us what Zach and Sara are thinking and going through. Zach finally realizes that he has taken his one true love for granted for so long and that everything he has been striving and pushing for in his career really doesn’t fulfill him like he thought.
This is what Zach has to say on his road to self discovery:
“But most of all, I’m sorry for taking our friendship-for taking you-for granted all these years.”
“Whether we’re eating pizza on a Friday night or cuddling in bed on Sunday morning, she’s my home.”
If you enjoy the writings of C.L. Cruz or Phoebe Sweet, you will definitely love this book!
I liked this story a lot. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. Zach cracked me up so much when he received his wake up call.

This short story had a lot of feels. Sara was brave taking the step of moving on when she decided it was time. She had great friends that were supportive. I loved that once Zach figured out what he was missing, he was all-in trying to make sure that Sara knew how he felt. I loved their happy ever after although I do wish there was an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.
She named her cat Chaz but her best friend is clueless about why
Sara and Zach have been best friends ever since he moved into the house next to hers when they were fifteen years old. That was over twelve years ago and for the past five she has been in love with him. Not the “love him like a friend” type but the “I want to scale him like a tree” type.
Sara has a degree in Library Science and is a librarian at Sugar Hill Library. This Saturday is the first ever Sugar Hill Community Fair which everyone has worked hard to put together. That includes Zach also as he did the PR/advertising for it since he owns a very successful firm. When Zach shows up at the fair he has a date, a skinny blonde with a big rack. At the same time that Sara spots them and has the wind knocked out of her, as she did not know he was bringing anyone, a customer at her book sale table asks her out on a date. She needs a distraction so she accepts the invitation by the very tall, dark and handsome Lincoln.
Zach has worked hard the last several years with Sara always there to help him and give him support and encouragement. He has finally “made it” which included a membership to the exclusive Oakwood Club. Later the night as Zach and his date are sitting in the Oakwood Club and he is feeling full of himself he realizes that she is actually checking out several other men. So he looks around and spots a lovely and curvy woman sitting on a stool at the bar. He is having the most wanton thoughts of her and is on his way to try and pick her up, so he can take her back to his place and have her for dessert, when a man joins her and she laughs. It seems that laugh sounds familiar and when she turns he realizes it is Sara. He best friend Sara!!! The woman he was having those wanton fantasies about Sara!!! This starts Zach to realizing that he actually loves her, she is his, she cannot be with any other man let alone on a date with another man……..who is taking her to the elevator to go to the lower floors of the club where the debauchery happens! Now this is going to get very interesting indeed…………
This is a funny, witty, spicy, infuriating and completely entertaining short story. Once again Liz Fox has written characters that are wonderful and continued to bring in characters from previous books, introduce new characters and woven certain story plots from the series throughout. Another wonderful book and definite recommendation.
