Fast paced with lots of action like the original but with a few twists.
Magic ,gems ,a dragon and more.

One of the many things that I find so alluring is how this world is set up. It’s a fascinating blend of high urban fantasy combined with the modern human world, but as in the same way Harry Potter is. The ones who live within the fantasy realm have advantages, technology of their own, but they can also share in the technology from the human world. Kind of like Hermione taking an iPad to Hogwarts.
Julia writes with such a voice that you’re immediately drawn in, lured down into page after age as though you’ve been spellbound by Argentum herself. She’s a modern woman, fierce and bold, unwilling to be passive to her own fate, and instead decides to take her Choosing into her own hands. It’s that same brave stubbornness that gives strength when she needs it and helps her connect to the reader so well.
Fans of Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments, A Girl Called Firedragon, and Underworld will love this book. That same fierce boldness that carried characters like Hermione Granger, Clary Fray, Aurelia Sun, and Selene through their trials and tribulations is alive and shining bright in Argentum.
This was my first Julia Goldhirsh’s book. This short novella is a prequel of the Gemstone Massacre series, a Dark Arthurian Fantasy. The storyline is original, fun, fast-paced, action packed, and entertaining, filled with magic, and sorceress. The characters are great, and well developed. The world building is well done, and intriguing. This is a great introduction to the series. Alexandra Hunter did a great job with the narration. I love her voice! I enjoyed it, and I am looking forward to listen to the first book in the series.
This book is a prequel and a short read. I really enjoyed the plot and the setting of the book. The writing is compelling. Gemstones affinities is something I had never read about before. The characters were strong female and I thought they were sufficiently described, despite the shortness of the story. The twist regarding Excalibur was original. In short, this is a fun read that is a great introduction to the next book of the series. I am curious to read what will come next for the characters!

The sorceress leader, Joan, has prophesied about pulling Excalibur from its stone. Unfortunately her clan wants to use the power for a darker purpose. The clan uses gems to control their power, and be able to change their identities. Opal is tricked into choosing a gemstone that will unleash a dragon, to start a war. As Opal tries to fix what has been done, who can she possibly trust…..
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK
“You wanted a war? Now, you’re going to get one for the history books.”
Thank you for an arc.
I really enjoyed The war of twin Swords mainly because it has two fierce and valiant female characters as well as a great story I’ve never read before. It has drama, action, magic, friendship and anything you can possibly want from a fantasy novel.
Opal: it’s her eighteenth birthday and also the day of her choosing. She knew if she wants to be a strong leader of her enchantress clan she would require to be choosen by a strong gem. So instead of letting a gem choose her she choosed a gem. But to her surprise her own clan refused to see her as their leader.
Joan: leader of sorceresses clan has decided to go against her own clan to prevent a war between two powerful clan in world of magic. Which has been enemy for a long time, the sorceresses and the enchantress.
And what happens if leaders of both the powerful clans befriend to save innocent people while fighting with their own problems and their own people.
~what i really liked~
• The plot which has references to Merlin and King Arthur.
• The setting was great and with vivid details which made it easy to get me into the story.
• I really liked all the characters that were meant to be liked (except obviously opal’s parents and the magic council)
•This has potentially hyped me about the series.
~what i didn’t fancy or what i wished to read~
• i would really like a little backstory of the main character. As it would help me in understanding opal and her darkness better.
•I wish i could read Joan’s character or Joan’s story as a leader of sorceresses clan.
Overall I’m really looking forward to read the series and am secretly hoping to see character art of this series.
Ps: the cover is stunning!
