An all new flirty, lighthearted, standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg guaranteed to make you swoon. Blakely Foxx is having one of those years. Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make … the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.
When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why an early-thirties, hotter than hell, cardiothoracic surgeon would take an interest in her.
She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.
Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning forty would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound, is actually your happily ever after?

Flirting with 40 is a cute, fun, sexy read that you will just devour in one sitting. I couldn’t get enough of Slade. He is just amazing and sexy. I love how he lifted Blakely up so much. The chemistry between Blakely and Slade is red hot. Blakely goes through so many changes through out this book. I loved seeing her come into herself. Blakely goes from this beaten down by her ex husband to this stronger then ever standing up for herself when it comes to a younger boss. Blakely and Slade will make you not only fan yourself but giggle too. This book is so good. I couldn’t get enough.
Recently divorced and not looking forward to her companies “Team Building” adventure, Blakely finds herself burdening the man sitting next to her at the bar with her daily woes. Thinking he will just nod and walk away, she is surprised when the gorgeous man engages in conversation. But when he excuses himself to take a phone call and a younger woman asks if his mom a/k/a Blakely would give him her card, Blakely leaves the bar feeling worse than when she left. But Slade felt the spark and refuses to let her walk away. Instead they end up with a to do list that takes her from grumpy to satisfied. But is it all for the sake of her job? Or will the two go from friends to lovers to soulmates? Can you really find happiness at 40? In true K. Bromberg style, the reader instantly falls in love with the characters and cannot put the book down. From the opening pages to the very last line this book was filled with beautifully written characters, a heart warming storyline and just enough humor and emotion. Another great read from K. Bromberg.
K. Bromberg is quickly becoming one of my favorite go to authors where I will one-click a book just because she wrote it. I found Blakely to be extremely relatable. I didn’t exactly relate in terms of age or divorce but just in self-esteem. I have some very similar traits that Blakely holds. Where is my Slade?! I absolutely adored how Blakely and Slade met and how their relationship / friendship evolved. It was the sweetest yet hottest thing.
I found myself constantly smiling through this book with the back and forth banter. Their easy chemistry and situations they were in. Flirting with 40 was such a feel good romance. I feel like everyone can enjoy this story never mind their age.

5 star review Flirting With 40 by K. Bromberg
From start to finish, K. Bromberg wove a story that drew me in and had me riveted from the first to the last chapter and I was frustrated when real life got in the way of my reading. This is Ms.Bromberg writing at her best with a strong, emotional storyline and characters that you cannot help but fall for and whose story you quickly become invested in.
Blakely Foxx and Slade Henderson were characters that were easy to relate to and I loved the, both separately and especially once they got together. Having recently divorced, Blakely is struggling,; her ex is already involved with another woman, half her age, her boss is being a jerk and she is just about to celebrate her 40th birthday.
She cannot understand how a hot, and successful surgeon could possibly be interested in her. I loved how supportive Slade was and how caring and protective he is of Blakely. He was totally swoon worthy and I fell hard and fast for him as he helped Blakely get her confidence back.
This book was exactly what I’ve come to expect from K. Bromberg; it was well written, it will make you laugh, it will make you swoon and I loved it.
With the news of her ex-husband finding someone new Blakely Foxx is really struggling to find her happy again, he left her some time ago and now here he is with a new fiance already. Acting like their twenty year marriage meant nothing to him, and here she is still grieving the loss. And if that isn’t a enough to deal with a younger woman has been made her boss, and she takes every chance she can get to put digs in on Blakely about her age and not being hip enough to keep up with the trends at work. Nearing forty shouldn’t feel like this, she should be embracing it, but instead she feels like being older is a punishment.
That is until a gorgeous younger man comes waltzing into her world and proves to her that age is nothing but a number…that she deserves to be happy and live her best life!
Flirting with 40 delighted on all fronts, it was witty, sexy, humorous and good for the heart. It was also a great reminder that age shouldn’t dictate how you live your life, you are only as old as you feel, and for our heroine she needed that little reminder! I loved watching Slade push her out of her comfort zone and show her how to live, how to embrace her older age. They were the perfect pairing, their personalities played off of one another nicely, and they had great chemistry that stirred up lots of steam between the pages. Each page had me smiling and swooning throughout, it was such a fun read, one that made for the perfect lazy Sunday escape! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it’s perfectly drawn characters will steal your heart and keep you thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
ARC received for an honest review
As a woman who has more than flirted with 40 – heck, I have flirted and waved as I rode right on past 40 – I enjoyed Blakely’s tale.
From flirtation to serendipitous meeting, Blakely and Slade are just too cute. I couldn’t help but smile as I was reading.
This was like a guide to finding yourself again. From work issues to moving on after divorce, Blakely is dealing with it all.
And Slade is just the guy to help her through it all, even when he is dealing with work complications of his own.
It is a good thing Slade is a cardiac surgeon, because he had my heart beating out of my chest. Palpitations I tell you!
There are some great secondary characters, and I feel that I need to get the story of Blakely’s bestie.
And I need to find a Slade of my own.
I look forward to more stories like this from Ms Bromberg.
Ladies and gentlemen, K. Bromberg did it AGAIN!
Flirting with 40 brings a romantic, fun, steamy and unexpected story about a woman whose self confidence has been wrecked by an unsuccessful marriage and the belief that being almost forty is a sentence of forever-loneliness and professional failure.
Blakely is beautiful and smart. However, she only gets to look at herself as an amazing woman after meeting Slade, the guy who can’t seem to shake the magnetism this woman has; an attraction which he can’t elude.
Slade enters Blake’s life like a hurricane, taking with him all the doubts, fear and self-consciousness that prevent this woman from shining and achieving her goals. He then realizes some goals of his own might be attained in the process.
I cannot forget to mention the amazing Kelsie, Blakely’s bestie, who is one of those friends everybody should have!
Definitely recommended if you like flirty, easy-to-read, lighthearted romances that bring couples whose chemistry reach roof levels and some swooning moments that’ll make you feel it all.
I’ve laughed, cried and had a constant smile on my face with this one.
K. Bromberg is one of the best. She’s been one of my favorite authors since forever, and this book only reaffirms my favoritism.
Having said that, a notice from me is in order:
If anyone needs to reach me, please be aware that I’ve taken a trip to Central Slade Cloud Nine.
This story is wonderfully sweet and not terribly angsty, but so full of emotion that it washes over, flows through, and all but consumes the reader. You’ll adore Blakely with her complexities, strength and vulnerability, and you’ll fall head over heels for Slade, with his confidence, fun-loving spirit, and eternal optimism.
Blakely Foxx is the senior member on her team and up for a promotion to VP, if only she can manage to get past the new, younger, female boss who hates her. Blakely’s confidence has taken a hit since her marriage ended seven months ago, especially when she finds out her ex is engaged. The last thing she wants is to be the fifth wheel with no significant other at the upcoming team building retreat.
Out of character for her, Blakely decides to have a drink, alone, at a trendy bar. Somehow, the handsome, younger guy who tries and fails to pick her up ends up being her pretend boyfriend on the company retreat.
These two owned my heart! I loved watching Blakely find her true self through Slade’s encouragement. And Slade, well he’s one of my all time favorite heroes. He’s funny, unabashed, a little irreverent and has a huge heart and a refreshingly humble humanity as a cardiac surgeon. And he’s absolutely perfect for Blakely, which is easy to see with the amazing chemistry they have.
I love seeing more books with an older woman, and this one was so much fun to read. Just in case Blakely and Slade’s romance isn’t enough on it’s own, we also get an awesome BFF, entertaining workplace dynamics, a meddling mother, and a mean girl you’ll love to hate. Slade and Blakely’s road to forever will captivate you, Slade will be your new favorite book boyfriend, and you’ll love every second of this sweet, sexy, heartfelt story.
I loved everything about this story. From the first pages I was all in. It made me feel light and fluffy with how playful Slade’s character is. Plus his different take on every situation, how he is always positive and helpful helps the readers and Blakely feel uplifted. She is a great woman as she is but she blossoms around him. He is pushy, adventurous, fun, easy going, sexy, a great listener, charming and he has so many other great qualities that you can’t help to fall in love with him. He builds up Blakely’s confidence efortlessly. And reading how they connected had me swooning. I really enjoyed this book. I devoured it and ended feeling happy. I want more book boyfriends to be like him.
EXCPERPT:
“Does my age unnerve you?” he asks.
“Your age doesn’t matter.”
“Exactly.” He smirks. “So, why are you making it matter?”
I walked right into that one. “We’re at different phases of our lives. You’re in your residency. I’m a divorcée with baggage—”
“Everyone has baggage. It just looks different from person to person.” He leans back in his chair. “What are you afraid of? Getting to know someone new? Taking a chance? Stepping outside of the box for once? Finding yourself again?” His words root deep into me and take hold.
“I appreciate you trying . . . but we’ll never pull it off.”
“Yes, we could.”
“No one would ever believe it.”
“Quit letting them—whoever they are—put you in a mold, Blakely. Make your own damn mold. You might surprise yourself in the process.” His dimples deepen, and his eyes are as unwavering as his resolve.

There’s nothing quite like a true to heart simple romance and I say simple as a good thing. This book was just that…it was a fun, sexy, romantic, smile-inducing, heartwarming, butterflies in my stomach kind of story. And exactly what I needed to read right now. It was like a rebooting for my romance loving heart.
Kristy brought me back to my reader basics and reminded me why I started reading romance…for the good feelings. For the swoon-worthy moments. For the realistic love story that anyone could have in real life. The relatable characters and their insecurities. For the love that just happens and there is no other explanation than it just is. Call it fate or whatever you may, it just is.
I absolutely adored Slade and Blakely’s story and can’t recommend it enough. If you’re in the mood for something refresher and an easy read to make you feel good, THIS is your story.

K. Bromberg gave us something different than what we are used to getting from her with Flirting with 40 and I absolutely LOVED IT!!! It is so refreshing to see an older woman with a younger man. This book is so fun and lighthearted. I loved the storyline, Slade, and Blakely so much. Seriously, Slade is absolute perfection! He is confident, sexy and kind. Oh and did I mention he’s a doctor? When he meets Blakely the first time, he was entranced. However, she was hung up on their age difference. Blakely is gorgeous, smart, and a whole host of other things, but she is super insecure from years of being treated like she was nothing by her ex-husband. I’m so glad he was persistent with her, because what he brought out in her was beautiful! Blakely and Slade had such an ease about them and a chemistry that couldn’t be denied.
This book made me all warm and fuzzy inside. It also makes me long for the mountains, a makeshift porch swing, a glass of wine, and a friend named Ed!
Flirting with 40 is one of my favorite books of 2020!
This book is just what I needed. Slade and Blakely are perfect.
Where can I get a Slade from!! He is just so perfect. Cute, personable, a doctor, hot and just all around good. He treats Blakely like the queen she is even when she doesn’t feel like one. He reminds Blakely she is not old and to embrace her age along with giving her the confidence she needs. Blade for the win!!!
Another amazing read by K. Bromberg! This age gap romance will hook you from chapter one! Slade is absolutely swoon worthy and just what Blakely needs. This storyline is about rediscovering your worth. I loved their banter and sizzling hot chemistry. Most definitely worth the read.
I adored this book.
Why?
Slade is hot and so damn nice. And did I mention hot?
Also it’s got feels- even though it’s not angsty.
And Blakely? Hell I could be her. No I am her. I’m not a divorcée but other parts of her story- specifically things about her job that could be me. That has been me. It’s a fine line, women are in sometimes in the workplace – especially with each other.
But the love that grows in this story…it’s inspiring. This truly is a feel good story and I loved it!
And who doesn’t need a friend like Ed?
