He was the second date that should have lasted a lifetime. Flynn Wagner didn’t have time for relationships. Her career as a headhunter in New York City was the only thing she truly cared about, outside of her parents. When her dying mother asks her to go on their much-anticipated trip to Alaska without her, Flynn can’t deny her mother’s request. Shortly after her mother’s passing, Flynn sets off … Flynn sets off to the frozen tundra and the Mistletoe Lodge. She’s prepared to hear endless stories about her mother. However, nothing can prepare her for coming face to face with the one man she couldn’t get out from under her skin.
Colton Granger left Alaska and joined the Army when he’d been eighteen years old. He swore he’d never return to his hometown. But when his father has a heart attack, Colton decides it’s time to return to the Mistletoe Lodge and help his mother keep the business running during the winter months while his father recovers. He never expected to open the doors to the lodge and find the woman who had changed his life forever standing there in high-heeled boots, a winter coat that didn’t keep a person warm, and a killer smile that would soon melt his heart.

Flynn Wagner doesn’t believe she has time for relationships or love. Her career comes first, before most everything. When her mother wants her to go on their trip to Alaska even after her death, Flynn doesn’t feel like she has a choice but to fulfill her mother’s last wishes. She doesn’t expect to to come face to face with the man she hasn’t been able to forget. Colton Granger left Alaska and joined the Army as soon as he turned 18. He lives for the adrenaline rush and loves his career. But when his father has a hear attack, he makes the decision to go home to Mistletoe Lodge and Alaska to help his parents. He never expected to see the woman who changed his thoughts about relationships to show up. Now they both need to decide if their path can include each other or not.
I liked this one but I don’t think I loved it. I really liked Colton and his parents. He is this sweet, snarky man that you can’t help but like. I had issues with Flynn. I almost felt like she couldn’t see past her own past to realize that you can have happiness in a relationship, regardless of seeing her parents have that. I don’t know, I just had a hard time with her. On a whole, I did like the story and how everything came together. I wish I had seen some sort of closure with her job though. I’d still read it again!
What at beautiful story! Flynn takes a trip to Alaska after promising her Mother she’d go even after she passes. She stays at the Mistletoe Lodge, owned by her Mother’s best friend. Although she goes thinking the one good thing is that she won’t see Colton, the son of her Mother’s best friend. The one she had a fling with in NY. But she’s in for a surprise when she finds he is there helping run the Lodge after his Dad had a heart attack. What a beautiful love story that unfolds as they navigate through their fears and find love!
A good read about two people getting a second chance at love. Colton and Flynn knew each other once but then Flynn left to go after her career. Colton ended up in the army. Now both back because of parents, can’t they rekindle a love they once had. A good read from the beginning.
Alaskan Christmas is a sweet, second chance holiday romance that you can easily enjoy on a lazy afternoon. Flynn is the typical New York career gal that doesn’t do relationships. Colton is the one guy that got under her skin three years ago when he passed through while waiting for his next deployment. Flynn also got under Colton’s skin. He had never planned on leaving the military but for one brief moment in time, he imagined something more. Now it is three years later and a lot has happened in both their lives. Flynn has lost her beloved mother to cancer and Colton has left the military and is now working with his parents on taking over the family lodge. Maybe the timing is right this time! It really was a sweet, low angst, bit of heat romance told from dual POV.
Flynn and Colton’s parents were good friends living as far apart as you can get – Alaska and New York. They were trying to hook up their children, and they agreed to meet in New York while Colton was on leave. They had an incredible week, but as he was leaving on his next tour of duty in Delta Force he was hoping to stay connected long distance. Flynn quickly put an end to that and Colton didn’t follow up. Three years later Flynn is headed to Alaska to honor her dead mom’s wish to relieve her memories by staying at Mistletoe Lodge that is run by her mom’s friends. Unbeknownst to Flynn, Colton is now out of the army and helping his parents run the lodge. Sparks fly between them immediately. Will Flynn be willing to give them a chance? Loved reading how they reconnected and loved the Alaskan setting.
Such a beautiful love story. Magic does happen around the holidays. Flynn Wagner life is in New York but keeping a promise to her dying mother she heads off on their trip to Alaska. The Mistletoe Lodge is a beautiful place. Colton Granger left Alaska and joined the Army when he’d been eighteen years old.Colton Granger left Alaska and joined the Army when he was eighteen years old. Heading home to Alaska to help his dad he finds love. Sparks fly when Flynn and Colton are together. This book warms my heart.
Flynn Wagner is on her way to Alaska to spend a week’s vacation at Mistletoe Lodge. She was to go with her mother but her mother passed away but not before she had promised she would still go. Her father handed her the ticket so she was locked in to her promise. Flynn is stressed as she is a headhunter in NYC and is trying for a promotion but is working against a woman who is out to get her fired. When she arrives at Mistletoe Lodge, she finds Colton, the owners son there which she never expected. He was military and she didn’t know that he had retired from the service because his father had a heart attack and he came home to run the lodge. They had met before but because of something in Flynn’s past, she had not been able to let herself make a commitment so she tries to hide the fact she loves Colton but can’t have him. She is also a klutz and I have to tell you I laughed so hard at some of the things that happened in this story. You couldn’t have asked for a better story. This was such a delightful read.
I love Jen’s writing she always brings her characters to life and there is also enough drama and romance to keep everyone happy when reading her books She is an author that has caused me many a late night and this book was no exception
Flynn Wagner and Colton Granger’s mothers had always been best friends and even though they lived in different parts of the country they always kept in touch in fact this led to Flynn and Colton having a few dates when they where younger but Colton left his home in Alaska to join the military and they lost contact with one another. Now Flynn and her mother are planning a trip to Mistletoe Lodge the property the Granger family own when the unthinkable happens Flynn’s mother dies of cancer her father asks her to still go on the trip as a way to honour her mother. When she arrives Flynn is surprised to see Colton is also there he has returned after his father had a heart attack and even though he swore he would never live in Alaska he is ready to take over the reins of the lodge He has also never forgotten Flynn and hopes that they can build something together but can he get this career driven city girl to even give them a chance no matter how deep the attraction is between them You will have to read to see
I can see how hard it would be for Flynn to take this trip to Alaska without her mother. It was something they were going to do together. The Mistletoe Lodge is run by Flynn’s mother’s best-friend Renee and her husband, it’s also where her parents spent their honeymoon. The one thing she was grateful for was that their son Colton wouldn’t be there.
Colton was Delta Force and after his last tour his father had a heart attack. He’s left active service, returning home to run Mistletoe Lodge while he tries to convince his parent to move south. He knows there’s a VIP guest coming, his parents have conveniently not said who it is.
Since Colton and Flynn were kids their parents seem to thing they’d make a great couple. What they don’t know is Colton and Flynn had a week long fling in NY. The parted ways, her for her career, him for a tour overseas.
It was lots of fun watching Flynn battle with her emotions where it comes to Colton. From hot to cold to jealously and back again on the excursion with the sled dogs.
Of course her job gets in the way, and this time there doesn’t seem to be a way out for her. Plenty of ups and downs, some twists and turns, some sizzle and lots of romance as these to figure out what they really want.
This pair made my heart hurt. They’re both still packing around the emotional baggage that made them cut and run the first time they were together, but now they have a second chance. Have Flynn and Colton grown beyond their past hurts or are they doomed to cut and run from each other again? I really enjoyed this quick read. It has fun and humor along with drama and steam. Colton and Flynn are complex characters that I couldn’t help but cheer for. There may not be much that’s “Christmassy” in the story, but the book has all the magic of season.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Flynn never takes time for herself. Work consumes her. Her mom’s favorite place was Alaska and they were supposed to come here together. Her mom passed before they could so now she is here for her.
Colton left Alaska when he turned 18. Couldn’t get away fast enough. His father had a heart attack so he is back. He wants to take over the lodge for them.
Colton and Flynn had a week together in New York. It was their mom’s who wanted them to meet. He was focused on his military career and she was too devoted to her job so it was over. Neither one had stopped thinking about the other. Now they have time together again.
Will Flynn figure out work isn’t everything? Will Colton take over the lodge?
A fun, entertaining read. Flynn Wagner and Colton Granger had a week-long fling. Colton went back to the military and Flynn carried on with her work, her life. 3 years later, honoring her mother’s wishes, Flynn took a vacation to Alaska but was unprepared for what she found. Flynn and Colton found their second chance. Would Flynn set it aside again? I recommend this story and this author.
Set in Alaska We have Flynn and her mother were going to take this trip together but, her mom dies before they can go. Flynn meets Colton in NY 3 years before while he’s on leave. Their mothers are good friends and decide they would be good together so you have two matchmaking parents and two people afraid to let their hearts feel. All in all a great book that’s a quick read and it’s Christmas.
Alaskan Christmas: A Mistletoe Lodge Novella
Jen Talty
Love books written around Christmas, set in Alaska, and a second chance romance. This book covers all three.
Strong characters who are afraid to let their hearts rule for fear of having them broken. This brings some interesting conflict that they need to work through. They need to realize that sometimes Mama knows best.
When parents turn matchmaker!
One thing you can count on in a Jen Talty story is great characters, and this is no exception. Not only do we get to know Flynn and Colton, but we have an insight into both sets of parents as well – and boy but were they determined these two would get together! This is very much Flynn’s story, from the career woman under pressure at work from backstabbing colleagues to the woman terrified to let Colton into her life. This is a great, all-too-short read, and just what you need for Christmas, whether it’s in December or July.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
This stand alone story takes us to Alaska and introduces us to two individuals whose career meant everything to them…until it didn’t.
Flynn Wagner lives in NYC . Her career has become more important that living . Colton Granger left Alaska after HS and the Army became his life. Upon their parents insistence, they met in NYC three years ago while Colton was on leave. They had an unforgettable week but Flynn sent Colton away and he returned to the career he loved.
But life is full of twists and turns, and they meet again in Alaska during Christmas. Each facing a fork in the road on their personal and professional lives. Will they rekindle their feelings or will past experiences and duty keep them away?
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Flynn and her Mother were suppose to take a vacation to Alaska to relive some memories her Mother had with her best friend. Unfortunately Flynn kept making excuses not to go…then it was too late. Right after her Mother died her Father handed her a plane ticket to Mistletoe Lodge and wouldn’t let her put the trip off. On the way to Alaska, Flynn stressed about it being the wrong time to leave work because she was up for a promotion. Her biggest fear was meeting up with Colton, the son of her Mother’s best friend. They had a week long fling a few years ago and she broke off contact the instant he left. Well, luck isn’t on Flynn’s side because Colton is now retired from Delta Force and helping his parents run the lodge. How they get through their hurts and fears determines if they have another week long fling or a happily ever after.
Loved the setting in Alaska and a Christmas story to book. Nice love story. Flynn and Colton had a one night stand/week, but now she’s had a request from her mom that she is going to honor. She’s going to the Mistle Toe Inn in Alaska, where her and her mom was supposed to go. Since she put it off too long, now she’s going alone. But hey guess who’s at the lodge. Yep, Colton, he’s out of the serivce and the two aren’t getting along. Loved the story. HEA
