All Kendal Rose wants is to put the past where it belongs and have started fresh with the rest of the Wine Wednesday group. However, when her friends are murdered, one by one, and Kendal is the best suspect, that becomes impossible. New York State Trooper, Ryder Vaughn has one shot to get his career back on the right track. At first glance, the Corkscrew case appears to be open and shut. Only, … shut. Only, Ryder smells a setup and he can’t let another innocent person go to jail.
Will Ryder and Kendal be able to solve the corkscrew murders before Ryder is forced to slap on the handcuffs and send the woman he’s falling in love with to prison? Or will Kendal end up in a body bag?

Who knew that finally trying to get over your past would turn into such a dangerous thing. Things go from bad to worse for Kendal after trying to met up her old best friends, she is trying to move on from the past which turned them all against her but someone else doesn’t like her being back. There are plenty of twists, surprises, a few laughs and some great attraction happening between Kendal and Ryder but you feel like you shouldn’t trust anyone. A thoroughly great read that keeps you turning the page until the end.
This is a great mystery romance that has you from the very first page. It has a wonderful plot that is well written plot that is action-packed and unpredictable. The characters are strong, well developed and captivating. I really enjoyed reading this book.
One woman revisiting her friendships from when a tragic accident happened 10 years ago and all blame was put on her. Dead bodies start to pile up and all fingers are pointed at her. A great suspenseful read and I had two people in mind for the crimes. A detective fighting to keep his job after his ex wife does his best to find the guilty person. Great characters and storyline
Kendall went through something in college and lost her friends in the midst of it. Now at a reunion she is hoping to reconnect with them and be able to move on with the people she misses more than she thought she would. But when they start turning up dead, she is the first suspect for Ryder. He doesn’t think she did it but the evidence keeps piling up against her. And now he has to not only prove who truly did do it but protect her at the same time.
This book starts off right from the start sucking you in and keeping you reading. Not only do the characters make you want to know more but the story keeps you guessing and needing to know what will happen next! Kendall and Ryder have this connection that you want to see be able to grow while at the same time you love the journey that they are going on while trying to figure out what is truly happening. There are lots of twist and turns, so you may some things if you aren’t paying attention. This one is another hit in my book!
Kendall was the driver when there was bad car accident with all her friends from the Wine Wednesday group. One friend was killed, and everyone else had severe injuries. For the longest time the friends blamed Kendall for intentionally causing the accident. After many years of separation, Kendall was looking forward to getting together at a collage reunion and trying to rebuild her friendship with this group. Unfortunately, one by one her friends are being killed and Kendall looks to be the prime suspect. Enter Ryder, the lead detective, who along with his partner are investigating the murders. Ryder is also trying to rebuild his career after his ex-wife ruined his reputation. While everything points to Kendall being guilty, Ryder believes Kendall is innocent. What makes it more difficult is that his ex is Kendall’s boss and her attorney. Loved all the twists and turns as Ryder and Kendall work to try to find the real killer.
Just goes to show that if you let the right people in, they can change your life for the better! That’s the case as far as Kendal’s life goes! Though her past is now coming back to haunt her, letting Ryder in is the best decision ever, even if he’s already involved! If you love romance suspense books, this one is for you!! Fast read that has you keep reading until it’s done!
Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres so I am always on the lookout for a new series to read. I have read some of the previous NY State Trooper books before and The Corkscrew Killer is set in the same setting but it stands alone in the series. It is a quick story that jumps right into the action in the first chapter. Kendal Rose has had tragedy in her past and a decade later she had hoped that was all behind her. She meets up with some old college friends and now everything is spiraling out of control. Detective Ryder Vaughn has been burned badly and now he doesn’t trust women, especially female lawyers. When his latest case leads him to suspect Kendal of murder he doesn’t know what to believe, his head or his heart! This is a quick afternoon read and it is told from dual POV. It has a few twists and turns and a bit of steam. It was a good addition to the series.
This is a book that draws you in from almost the very first page The connections between the her and heroine is not only romantic but there are also strong connection in the people they know and is it those connections that are putting their lives in danger
Ten years earlier Attorney Kendall Rose was accused of the death of her friend in a car accident everyone turned against he even though she was cleared and a drunk driver was charged with causing the accident. Now she is trying to reconnect with her friends from that time but all that it seems to have caused is more death and mystery as her friends are slowly murdered She is the prime suspect but the detective on the case Ryder Vaughn thinks sh is been set up He has to tread very carefully as his career is on a knife edge due to the actions of his ex wife a attorney who not only destroyed his life and career but is Kendall’s boss and the the one representing her. But is everything what it seems or is there far more going on than anyone realises You will have to read to see
Sometimes the past is painful and when you finally feel you can let it go, it just comes back to haunt you.
After reaching out to her group of friends they agree to get together to really put everything behind them. Kendal is the first to arrive and orders the same thing they had every Wednesday night when they were students here. It’s murder that interrupts that reunion, the murder of the woman they were waiting for. It’s Kendal who can identify her, she recognizes the cowboy boots Sylvie Leticia was wearing when Kendal dropped her at the hotel.
To top it all off, when she returns inside to get her purse along side the detective in charge, there’s an corkscrew in it. Something she doesn’t carry with her, even the wine they ordered had a screw top not a cork.
Just to make things more interesting, the detective in charge is one Ryder Vaughn, is Kendal’s boss’s ex-husband. Now just to be clear, Kendal is a criminal defense lawyer, but she is surprised when Sarah Moffit her boss comes to defend her. The thing is she really didn’t do it and there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that points to her.
Ryder doesn’t think Kendal is guilty, but she is definitely being set up, unfortunately for him, it seems he is also being targeted to fall.
Things go sideways pretty quickly as her one of her other friends is killed and the other goes missing.
A romance that begins in spite of the fact it shouldn’t and the investigation that leads to Kendal and Ryan hiding out to do the research needed to figure all this out.
I love this series and I am way behind in it. I’ll have to work on catching up to this book soon.
Kendal’s life had been plagued with bad luck and tragedy, and just when she’s trying to put her neglected friendships back on track, that dark specter strikes again. Ryder has his own share of bad luck and tragedy dogging his heels. When she becomes the prime suspect in his latest case, they discover they have an unexpected connection; both in the people they know and in the instant chemistry between the pair. What we get is another twisty little mystery from one of my favorite queens of romantic suspense. This was a quick read that sucked me in from the beginning and kept me anxiously flipping pages to find out what would happen next. I had my suspicions of who the villain was, and while I was ultimately proven right, I didn’t have a clue of the full extent of their evil. This book introduces us to several new characters that I hope we’ll see more of in future books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
This book gives you everything and more! I hate spoilers so let me give you some teasers instead! Kendal is hoping for a reunion with her friends after a tragedy tore them apart, one that she was blamed for initially. After finding out the truth, she’s hoping to move forward, but then someone is murdered, and she gets blamed again. Ryder is the man assigned to the case. But then the attorney shows up, another surprise. Lots of twists and turns, lots of clues, you won’t be disappointed!
I really enjoyed this edge of your seat mystery. I really like Kendal Rose and my heart broke for all the tragedy she has been through. When murder happens all signs point to Kendal.
Detective Ryder Vaughn is on the case and he thinks Kendal is being setup. Can these two trust each other enough to make it out alive. I loved all the twist and turns and mystery with this book. A definite one click book for all book lovers.
Kendal Rose faced tragedy in her senior year in college. Her friends turned against her, and she disconnecting with them all. At the ten year reunion, Kendal wants to reconnect with her friends from the Wine Wednesday group when tragedy strikes again. The plot is full of twists and turns and a mystery to solve who is the killer. Ryder Vaughn is the detective on the case. His ex-wife is Kendal’s lawyer, who has filled Kenal’s mind with terrible things about Ryder. A wonderful book with well-developed characters. I highly recommend this read.
I love books that give you just enough clues to make it fun to track the baddies, the right amount of heat to keep you wanting a HEA, and characters you can relate to – and Jen Talty has done this again. The odds are heavily stacked against Kendal and Ryder – his ex = her boss/lawyer; she’s a murder suspect – he’s the detective investigating the murders. How they overcome these odds, who the killer is, why the killer kills, and how Kendal’s back story factors into the present are all enough to keep you reading without pause. I’ve never been let down by Jen Talty’s writing, and this book is no exception.
Kendal is worried about this reunion. They haven’t all been together since the accident that killed one of her friends and injured the rest of them. Everyone blamed her.
Ryder is a detective and divorced. His ex wife screwed him over big time. He just got off desk duty because of her.
Now another one of her friends are dead and the weapon was found in her purse. Ryder and his partner are on the case. His ex wife who also just happens to be Kendal’s boss is Kendal’s attorney.
More deaths and still no leads. Will they find the killer before Kendal gets arrested for all of them?
Wow!! Fabulous book!
Could not put it down until I had finished the book.
Absolutely loved it!
Kendal and her friends lived through a tragedy years ago and haven’t seen each other since the accident. When she tried to get the Wine Wednesday group back together, a friend is murdered. Then another, then another and Kendal is the prime suspect. Detective Ryder Vaughn is assigned the case. Unfortunately he is the ex-husband of her attorney and she suspects she will will railroaded into being the only suspect. Thankfully Ryder is open minded and recognizes that this is a set up and does everything in his power to find the real killer. Some twists and turns but the real killer is found in the end. I’ve read each book in the series and have liked each one. They can be read independently or in order.
The reunion that Attorney Kendal Rose is hoping for, with her friends, turns in to a tragedy when one of her friends is murdered. Kendal is a possible suspect, unfairly accused again as she once was in the past. New York State Trooper Ryder Vaughn is the detective assigned to the case and doesn’t believe that Kendal is guilty. When Kendal’s attorney arrives, she is his former wife, Sarah. When other events continue to cast blame on Kendal, can Ryder find the evidence needed to prove that Kendal is innocent and find the killer? Kendal is not sure she should trust Ryder, but he seems to be her only hope to prove her innocence. An exciting romantic suspense by one of the best. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Kendal is back in town for a college reunion an is hoping to meet up with friends after 10 years of not seeing and talking to each other after something happened 10 years ago and Kendal gets blamed for it. Ryder is assigned to the case after one of them is found murdered. Everything points to Kendal as the murderer. Can they trust one another to get to the bottom of the killings? Will Ryder be able to prove she’s not the killer before it’s to late? This book has twists and turns and an ex wife who makes things worse. This was a quick read at least for me I wanted to keep reading to find out who the killer was!
The Corkscrew Killer
Jen Talty
Once again a journey of twists and turns that take you from one clue to another until the surprise ending. Love Kendal and Ryder and how they learned to trust again. Read it straight through as I just had to find out who done it.
Looking forward to more.
