All I can think after finishing this delectable sinister fairytale, is KER DUKEY I WANT MORE!! I want more of Mona and her backstory, more of the twins’ (Cash and Colt) hotness, more of their dynamics with Mona’s sister, Clara. JUST MORE OF EVERYTHING!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE US MORE!!
Moana is my favorite new age fairytale, and there was just enough semblance to the tale, but not too much that it overshadowed the fact that this was Dukey’s own. Ker Dukey teases out her twisty plot at just the right pace, once again demonstrating that she has what it takes to shock and surprise her readers.
A great addition to this collection!!
I have butterflies in my chest after reading Heart Thief. One thing I’m obsessed with is cult reads, and Heart Thief is already a favorite of mine. Ker Dukey spun a dark tale of a girl who just wants to be free, yet as much as it was dark it was also sweet. Weird, I know.
Mona wants to be free. She doesn’t believe in what her father preaches. She is so strong and I loved watching her blossom from a sweet innocent girl into a woman with a steel spine. Colt and Cash, sigh. They are the light to her dark, even though they have plenty of dark themselves. I love how they cherished Mona and made sure all her dreams could be within reach.
Heart Thief is a top read for me this year. I loved the suspense and romance that twisted perfectly with the dark and sinful.
***4 Stars***
This was a fun, quick and dark insta love retelling of Moana that hooked me from the first chapter and finishing it in no time flat.
I really liked Mona. Even though she’s been brought up in a cult, she doesn’t believe in the teachings as much as everyone wants her to. She wants to experience life and all that it has to offer. The Ward brothers are all kinds of protective charming goodness. Things happen quickly between them, which I didn’t necessarily mind, because they had a flow that I liked from their first collision, but I could have done with a little more time to delve into their connection to balance things out.
But what really hooked me was the whole mystery of Mona’s sister’s death. The twists and turns were very well done and I have to admit that I was surprised by the outcome, though I will say that I thought the punishment handed down was awesome!

Heart Thief is the story of Mona who has lived on this island her whole life and dreamt of the world outside her island and the water calls to her. Clara Mona’s sister promises her that one day she’ll come back for her and they’ll have an adventure away from the island, but when Clara is murdered and her heart removed Mona set out to find out what actually happened to her sister.
Colt is an asshole who finds little in life to be happy about until he meets Mona she calls to him like the water calls to her, but when the truth comes out its might be too much for Mona.
Overall the book was really good I loved reading about the pull that Mona felt to Colt and the love they were able to achieve. However, I didn’t care for the ending at all, she supposes to belong to both brothers only I never felt like Mona loved Cash or was interested in him that way. There where never moments in the story where you felt that Mona loved Cash like Colt, and I think Cash should have found someone that loved him, and while Cash cared about Mona you never read about those feeling evolving and I wish the author would have just let Colt keep Mona and given cash someone else.
Heart Thief is my favorite fairytale in the Sinister Fairytales Collection!
This is a dark & sinister retelling of the Disney movie, Moana. It is not your momma’s fairytale. It is twisted, dark, tragic, and may have triggers for some but it is also inspirational. I loved the book from start to finish. It sucks you in from the start and continues to enthrall until the end. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. There are a few twists/shocking moments that I did not see coming. The main characters were strong and amazing. Especially Mona. She was strong, fierce, and fearless. You can’t help but fall in love with Cash and Colt. They had the hotness factor! Did I mention that the steam level soars in this story? It was super hot!
Ker Dukey did a wonderful job of writing this unique tale of love, loss, discovery, tragedy, and triumph. It is dark but the love within the story is beautiful. This is a must-read and I highly recommend reading this unputdownable fairytale!

Heart thief by Ker Dukey is a short sinister fairy tale. For me, this was one of the best stories of the sinister fairy tales anthology. The way the story was portrayed was amazing. Those small twists and turns just drove my mind crazy. The chemistry between the ward brothers and Mona was off the charts. My heart just broke for Mona’s sister. She truly deserved better. But then also, had it not been for her, Mona and the brothers would have never met. The best thing I found about this book, was the way it just gets you hooked from the start , and was so sad when the story ended. It just felt like I didn’t get enough of the characters. This is a dark remaking of a fairy tale and is recommended to all the dark romance lovers, with a bit of twist and criminal suspense!!!
„Heart Thief” is my second book which I’ve read in Sinister Fairy Tales Collection.
Ker Dukey is one of my favourite author, so when I saw that she will write a book in this series I knew that I must read it. Immediately!
Mona Walters is in a golden cage. Her father is a leader of cult. Mona doesn’t want to be in this family. She wants to be free, explore the outside world and meet new people and the most important thing she wants to find the truths about her sister. One day she run from her parents, from her home to a new life, new world.
I have a really big problem to guess, which tale it is. But finally I connected all informations and now I can write it – „Heart Thief” is a new version of „Moana”. Darker, better and totally perfect!
„Heart Thief” is a really mystery story. I think that You will be interested in this book from the first chapter. Ker Dukey in her best version of writing. Highly recommend.
Wow! This was a story I couldn’t put down until the very end! The mystery, the intrigue, and the holy grab my pearls smexiness!
Mona is fighting to be free of the chains of her family’s skewed devotion and fights hard against the indoctrination of her upbringing. When tragedies strike, the urge to leave the island becomes overwhelming.
The Ward brothers….oh my me! Twins, tattoos, and piercings, oh my! These two embrace everything alpha, and they do it so well. The way they embrace and protect Mona is just whew…
The mystery in this story kept me guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had it figured out, Ms. Dukey shocked me! There are twists and turns throughout the whole story and I couldn’t put it down until the end!
Stuck under her fathers rules/cult, Mona Walters wants more. She wants to explore the outside world away from their island and find the truth of what happened to her sister. She was taught that evil lurks beyond their home but so does the truth! The Ward brothers might just have the answers she craves. This is a dark retelling of the fairytale, Moana. A clever, dark romantic suspense that I can’t say much without spoiling it but I think you’ll enjoy. The Ward brothers are both mysterious and perfect. This did take a bit to get into but once I did I couldn’t put it down. MF; MFM; Told in Multiple POV
