I read this with my 12 year old grandson and we both enjoyed the writing and the story.
Great children’s book recommend it for all children.
The Mystery of the Secret Lake (The Mystery Series Book 13)
Story starts out with Joe and his sisters and Will getting invited by Colin and his dad, the actor to the Pyrenees.
Feel like I got two stories in just this one book. Will and his dad head out to see a relative and meet up with a woman that his dad knows but….
They get kidnapped because of the information Helen knows about.
Joe and hiss sisters head in a boat to meet up with Colin and things don’t go according to plan and they are on the island.
They listen to a few men discuss about their boss and ifnromation a woman has about the heist.
So much adventure, mystery and just fun kid things mixed up with travel to exotic places in the 1950s where you learn so much.
Wish some of these books were made into a movie, they would be fantastic.
It’s interesting how the story ends, never in my wildest dreams did it end this way.
Love the tunnels and clues along the way, SO cool. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

When your friend is missing, you will do anything to find them!!
Colin Peterson called the kids, Joe, Amy, and Sarah, and invited them to go with him and his dad to the Pyrenees, where his father was starring in a movie. He said that the kids would have a chance to go hiking, swim in the lake, and camp out. His dad thought that this might be a way of saying thanks for rescuing Colin from the kidnappers not long ago. Colin told Joe that Will, the kids’ best friend, was also invited. Joe told him that he thought it would be great, but he would need to check with his parents, sisters, and Will, so he would need to call him back. Of course, his sisters thought it would be lots of fun, and their mom said that they could go.
They rushed over to Will’s house and caught Will and Mr. Spencer as they were loading their car. They were going to Will’s grandmother’s house for a birthday celebration, but they would only be gone a couple of days and would be back before the weekend. Mr. Spencer said it would be ok for Will to join them.
Later when the weather cleared up enough, the kids cycled into town so they could get some ice cream at Darby’s. While they were there their friend Quigley came in and invited them to go to Seacrest (a neighboring town) where he was going to pick up a boat that he was buying from a friend. They would then sail back to Smugglers Cove.
And now the story begins…
What did I like? As all of you know I am a big fan of Paul’s books, I have read nearly everyone that he has written. Paul has recently added some interaction adventure books, where you have the chance to choose your own ending for the story. They are lots of fun. Plus, he has added a “Kids Corner” to his website where you will find puzzles, word searches, and crossword puzzles, giving you a place for lots of fun for you or your children to enjoy. Paul has many books out that kids can enjoy especially “The Mystery Kids” series.
Now the other thing you probably have figured out is that I just will not grow up, and Paul’s books are my favorites to sit down and relax with. Of course, I do share these books with my grandchildren, and they cannot wait to get into them. This book is especially exciting! The mystery is extremely well hidden and a little hard to figure out, in addition to the fact that the kids are threatened several times during the search for Will and his father. It was so exciting that I could not put it down!
What will you like? Action with a capital “A”! Intrigue, mystery, danger, excitement, and captivating characters. The storyline is beautifully written and edited with a very deep plot, it will take you in many directions and give you a heart-wrenching ending. Each of the kids has their own part to play, but not without danger to them. There is a deep mystery that will take you a minute to put together. I think that this is the best of the series and Paul has done an amazing job capturing the readers with his plot. Do not miss adding this to your Children’s Library. Now, I say children’s, but you will certainly enjoy it also! Available today.
