Danger from a fae court comes calling when a queen visits her daughter at college. “Always expect the unexpected with Byrd’s writing” ★★★★★_____________________________________________Queen Elixia attending a symposium sponsored by the university may irk her daughter, Brigit, but neither can ignore the warnings given by a Black Dog. For all know that a magical fae hound’s prophecies come true. … Black Dog.
For all know that a magical fae hound’s prophecies come true.
Who knew that protecting a puppy that survived the traumatic destruction of his fae court would put both Brigit and her loyal friend, Logan, into danger? Or that Jib, the talking cat, would get into a huff about sharing space with a dog?
A YA FANTASY with quirky friends and surprising twists.
Worse? The fae queen just met Logan’s human mother.
“for those who love magical beings living among humans and the things that could go wrong. Boy, can I assure you things go wrong.” ★★★★★

Mothers. There is nothing so comforting as a mother’s love – or so annoying to a young adult. I was struck by how alike Logan’s and Brigit’s mothers are, despite their very opposed opinions of each other’s kind. That added quite the fillip to Logan’s and Brigit’s liaison duties and studies as well as their personal lives. Logan and Brigit don’t really need sleep, do they? Even with the touches from Providence Paranormal or Hogwarts, this feels so true to life. I enjoyed this sweet yet fantastical glimpse into magical university life and I plan to share these with my nephews.
I received a copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Completely captivated by this series and the characters. Couldn’t put it down once I’d started reading.
I got the chills so many times in this book. It completely blew my mind.
This was the last college far book I have read and I want morrre! I like how diligently the story develops. I loved to see the parents of our main couple (and really wanted to kick the human mom with something heavy – but the brownie was quicker!). I liked that we now have encountered several new fae and how all the threads come into a beautiful bow. I am eager to know more, too!
Brilliant and fun. A magical fae adventure topped with family dynamics, collage experiences, romance, and cultural differences. Can’t forget the looming threat to the fae world. Who wouldn’t want to read this?
A prophecy or warning from the Black Hound…
“ The Hound of Death hunts a noble prize; When the glass turns, who falls, so others rise?”
I’ve read the previous two books in this series which I loved for different reasons; but this one is the best so far. There is so much to appreciate and there are morsels here to satisfy the appetite of the most discriminating of readers regardless of age. This is a solid 5 series so far and is appropriate for a tween to 16 or for adults who still enjoy a well written fantasy filled with magic, a touch of romance and a dash of the unexpected.
For the older reader, there’s a lot to behold and enjoy. Each chapter is titled with chess moves and there’s a chess glossary at the end of the book. It just so happens that I play a fair game of chess so this immediately grabbed my attention…trying to surmise what will happen in each chapter. What a winning literary manuever! A book and a chess match with real cut throat maneuvering by the main characters who are pretty much “royalty”. What could be better?
The best part? Battling queens! One Fae and one Human. The moms not only make an appearance; but they steal the show…I mean book! Does love win this round? Too early to tell, but there may have been some assistance from a very unexpected source. Be still, my fluttering heart! No checkmate yet!
Never a disappointment.
This addition to A College Fae Magic Series is filled with action, intense family drama, conflict between humans and fae, and romance to root for. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
Bane of Hounds: A College Fae magic series #3 by Byrd Nash is such a story that I have read it my head say WOW!!!! when I was done. This is book number three in this WOW!!! series that I am so hooked on the books just keep getting better and I can not wait to see what is next. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Fae and YA fantasy.
Enjoyed this well-written, engaging installment in the College Fae series. Book #3 is multi-layered, has great character development, and features a few plot twists and character motivation reveals to keep the momentum going.
I recommend this series to all but young adults will probably relate to it more since it’s about kids at college and their experiences there.
Each book could be read out of order as the stories don’t overlap but I would recommend that they’re read as they were written so the reader can get to know the characters more fully and see how their perceptions change.
Though the book is about paranormals and humans and their interaction with each other one could substitute race or background in our own lives and see if we can get along. We can see parallels. The mantra in our society we hear and see daily tells us only one race’s lives matter and none else! That’s racism out in the open and yet the media and “sports” have all jumped on it. All that will do is DIVIDE this country as it has for the past 12 years when it was instituted! How sad that people and a political party encourage and embrace this racism!
Books are written to be entertaining but I think they also can have a deeper meaning if we really look for it. As The Beatles so aptly put it 50 years ago (can it really be that long ago- it seems like it was just yesterday) “All You Need Is Love”. That is the basis and trust comes next. Change comes when basic values are accepted and implemented not what we’re told today by people who only want power over others whether by their riots and looting and destruction or political power and grandiose demands that will further divide the country by making race more important than anything else!
A Magical Fae Adventure Readers will Love!
A magical adventure that brings the fae world and the human world clashing. The story really heats up in this third installment to The College Fae Series as we follow Logan, Brigit, and friends on a journey that leaves chaos everywhere. We have Logan learning the reality of his bard ability, Brigit navigating her family issues, relationships blossoming, and parents meddling where they shouldn’t… All in the midst of a cryptic message from an unexpected source that has everyone involved on their toes. Readers will love the character and plot development in this book, which ends with a few cliffhangers for the next book to come.
