Urgh, the last book in this series is amazing. A story of love, losses, secrets and heartache. After having nothing and no one at the start of Chrysalis. Emery has a family who love her. But her love for one person has been taken away. All that is left is darkness and revenge. All is not as it seems and will family and friends help to restore what is lost?
Well written and a journey over the 3 books has seen me hooked from the outset. I hadn’t really read paranormal prior to this series but I am so glad I gave it a go.
I am so sad that this series has ended. But I want ti see new stores as a spin off with the other charcters in the book. Maybe of we badger Maria enough it could work
I have been waiting a long time for the third book and now it’s finally here. It was all I expected and more! I’ve really come to enjoy this series and although I’m not a huge PNR reader, reading books like this slowly is turning me around! I’ve been hoping and praying that the story would lead me to the ending I wanted and it really grabbed my attention until the end… You’ll have to read to know if there’s happy ending or not…
Emery has been lost without Kade and is trying to use the anger & grief she’s been feeling to try and seek her revenge. But nothing is going as planned and when it’s time to go home, she’ll have to do the right thing to somehow find a way to save the world like she’s supposed to. Although an army is now standing behind her and a big threat is looming over her, there’s something hidden underneath that may be the one that will help her to get control back. With all the powers that be, it’ll be a struggle for all good to try and win over evil. Everyone will have to fight to survive but will Emery be able to save the world?… And will she find her way back to the man she’s lost along the way?…
Ascendance is the third and final book in The Gifted series. I, like so many others, have been desperate for the author to write the conclusion to this incredible story and although we have had a bit of a wait, it has been so worth it.
Maria Macdonald always writes outstanding and emotional stories and this book has been no different. I have to admit that I cried at the end of Ascendance. This was mostly due to all the emotions that I was experiencing but I do appreciate that it was also because I was saying goodbye to characters that I have grown to love.
This series has been perfectly written. I feel that the story has flowed beautifully throughout all three books because the author was always careful to ensure that readers knew the important details regarding the characters, their relationships and their powers. This not only enabled me to read the story without any confusion but it enhanced my enjoyment too. I must comment on the thought that has gone into the presentation of the books…. they are beautiful!
I am only going to mention one character in my review because I fear giving away any of the storyline, but I can’t not tell you my feelings regarding Emery as she is incredible! From witnessing her discover her true existence in Chrysalis, to seeing her grow and fulfil her role and duty to the very best of her ability even during those times when she faced her own pain and suffering… she truly is one strong, courageous and remarkable lady, and I admire her immensely.
I am normally eager to discover what happens at the end of a book. On this occasion however, I stalled as I approached the final scenes in Ascendance because I desperately wanted Emery and the characters supporting her to find happiness, and I also knew that once I reached the end that there would be no more. I have loved witnessing the interactions amongst the characters whether it be piths, siblings, friends or enemies…. they all added to the story perfectly.
I have a few friends who have thoroughly enjoyed this series who don’t usually choose to read PNR and I feel that this is due to this story being so engaging and well written. I would say this series is perfect for those who enjoy romance stories that bring out all the emotions, with some added twists and turns along the way. Ascendance gets a huge recommendation from me and I know you will enjoy reading not only this book but the whole series just as much as I have.
