What follows is an epic historical saga that stretches across France and encapsulates the real life stories of love, heroism and resistance that inspired Christopher Nicole’s acclaimed series.

This book is very good, however there are significant formatting issues with the ebook that negatively affects the reading experience. And it made the third book virtually unreadable. It is a shame that such a good book should have these issues.
The content of this book is pretty good. Unfortunately, the rendering of the novel is horrendous. It appears that the text has been optically scanned without further correction. The spelling is bad. The sentence structure is confusing. Paragraphs are in complete chaos, making the reading of this novel difficult and frustrating. I do not recommend this book in this format. It’s too bad, this could have been a pleasant read. The publisher of a work in this form should be ashamed.
I looked forward to reading this box set. However, the editing did not work out on my Kindle, with many words on every page run together. Could not finish, sorry to report.
Limited but good coverage of France in German occupation
Great read. Very informative with lots of facts I didn’t know about the French resistance
So disappointing. This book in Kindle format sorely needed at least two or three editors to go through it a dozen times. No paragraph breaks. Run on sentences. Incredibly difficult to read. Ridiculous numbers of gratuitous “F-words” sprinkled throughout, which I very much doubt were used as frequently in 1940-1944 as they are today. The author seemed to paste today’s lack or refinement and culture back onto the WWII era, which caused dissonance.
The story-line of the French resistance was interesting, but of the 4 books, there seemed to be a complete repeat in the middle of book 2, so I think there were only actually 3 books.
I’m so glad I got this in Kindle format through Bookbub, and did not spend a large amount of money for it on Amazon or another vendor. If so I would have felt incredibly ripped off.
The author should pay a few high school seniors $30 each to go through this book, remove the duplicate chapter, insert “end of Line” sequences, paragraph breaks, put in Bolded text for headings, and do all of the sundry other actions that occur for the vast majority of other Kindle books I have read – which number more than 200. I have never seen a book so poorly presented.
The story plot was good but the proof reading was very poor. There were so many run on words. There were two sections that were duplicates.
I love reading stories about history that are true or could have happened. This is one of the best I’ve read in a long time. It was a page turner and I am sad I’ve finished it.
Reading now. A very well-written story with great characters.
There are HUNDREDS of typos in this Kindle edition series and if you can get past page after page of mangled words and merged words and unformatted dialogue you will learn a little about the French Resistance. Repetitive conversations among characters coupled with the unforgivable mistakes made this a struggle. How could this mess happen when editing would have saved it?
I enjoyed this WWII long but still entertaining action novel. There were some annoying transcription typo errors which should have been caught by proof reading. The errors were obviously the result of multiple individuals working on the final effort to get into print as long portions were perfectly fine: followed by several chapters of poor punctuation and multiple words typed together. However, these interruptions did not keep this from being a fun book to enjoy.
Moved to slow. Repetitive
Horrid typesetting made it impossible to get through . The storyline might be good, but readability was very distracting.
