Wonderful contemporary story filled with swoony romance and wonderful characters.
Ches! He was very uptight at first because of all the expectations on him and ambitions not his own. I love the spice, fun and difference Josie brought into his life with her fun loving brothers.
I loved how the author inculcated the Christian faith into the book with very practical applications in the characters lives and stories.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
It was a pleasure to read Hope Toler Dougherty’s Forever Music. I have not her books before and I would love to read more by her in the near future. I enjoyed this sweet little story. It was a delight to meet Ches and Josie. There were a few scenes that made me giggle and laugh out loud. Other scenes have a few twists and turns that kept me engaged as to what would happen next. I had no problem reading the whole book in a few hours. Overall, I found it to be such a heartwarming tale with life lessons for all to learn.
I am giving Forever Music four and a half stars. I recommend this one for readers who enjoy a sweet and inspirational romance. I thought it was a great read and can not wait to read more books by Hope Toler Dougherty in the future.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
This has been such an enjoyable story to read. Josie is a wonderful character and I loved how close she is to her brothers. Their banter back and forth is fun to read about. I love how protective they are of their sister. I laughed as her brothers picked on her, but she holds her own with them. It was interesting to read how Josie was involved in getting grant money for her local library. Libraries are not one of the top priorities when it comes to funding from the government. I can’t tell you how many bake sakes and used book sales we had over the fifteen years I worked at a library.
Ches is smart, handsome and a bit standoffish at times , but I knew he was going to be a good character. Behind the nice clothes, fancy car and law degree was a man who longed to be accepted by his parents. I think him getting to know Josie was good for him. Getting be around her family made him long for that kind of relationship with his parents. I was sad when I read how much pressure his parents put on him to be the best and basically do what they wanted him to do to be happy. What they left out was what made Ches happy.
There is a pivotal moment in the story that really shook me up. When Ches has an emergency he doesn’t turn to his parents for help but to his aunt and uncle. Ches knew calling his uncle and aunt was just what he needed. He needed to be surrounded by family that loved him. Even when a scandal comes out about Ches his parents turn their back on him. I loved how the author demonstrated how important family is and how much faith can get you through even the most difficult times.
The relationship between Josie and Ches is a roller coaster ride. I think Josie was a bit hesitant because her brothers weren’t quite sure about him and because she didn’t have peace about it. I loved how Josie continued to pray over each situation and waited on God for answers. The story is a wonderful look at following what makes you happy. We don’t need to do things to please others. Ches needs to examine his life and discover what makes him happy. The journey to finding peace will be hard at times but at the end with God’s help, you will find the right path.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Forever Music by Hope Toler Dougherty
Books where you don’t want the story to end…this is one of those books! Characters that I grew to know and really enjoy, villians that played the part well, and loving, wonderful families! This book was a joy to read! The inspirational message was a central part of the story. Definitely worth the read! I will be looking for more books by this author! This book was provided to mr by Celebrate Lit for me to read and review.
Best book of Hope Toler Dougherty’s so far! Great characters, great story, fun read! Highly recommend if you need an enjoyable fun escape!
I’ve read three of Hope’s books, and this one is my favorite so far. It’s a highly enjoyable story. I loved the relationship between Josie and her siblings. And it was fun watching the attraction build between the main characters. I look forward to more from this author.
I enjoyed reading this sweet story! I love how Josie and Ches bring out the best in each other and encourage one another to go after their dreams. I also liked the dynamics between Josie and her brothers and hope to see the brothers in some of the Mrs. Dougherty’s future books!
Forever Music vividly shows the value of being loved and appreciated by your family. Josie Daniels’s joy and happiness is very evident and she has always felt treasured by her parents and her brothers. Ches Windham has never felt loved by his parents and being an attorney is what his father expected of him. Josie immediately notices the haunting sadness in his eyes, and in a poignant moment she asks Ches, “Are you going to live his life for the rest of yours, or are you going to live the one you were meant to live?” Will Ches accept her advice? Can he overcome being ruled by his critical, unloving parents?
This is an intriguing story of two very different people who find each other when they least expect it. Their reluctance to see each other as more than friends is very apparent and author Hope Toler Dougherty throws in many complications as their relationship continues. I love Josie’s vibrant personality and when she finds herself thinking unkind thoughts, she always asks God to help her change those thoughts. It is, however, Ches’s character development that especially thrilled me. He changed from an aloof and uptight guy to someone who enjoyed having fun with Josie and her brothers. He also recognized that even though he didn’t have his parent’s love, he has always been loved and treasured by his aunt and uncle!
Forever Music is an enjoyable contemporary romance with great characters and a strong faith message running throughout the story. I recommend it to all who like Christian romantic fiction and I am looking forward to reading more books by Dougherty.
I received a copy of this book from the author. A positive review was not required. These are my own thoughts and opinions.
Maybe because I spent much of my younger years in the Charlotte area, I was excited to read this book. Having seen the pain and anguish that overcontrolling parents can cause a child and how families sometimes think they know who is best for a family member, I was interested in seeing how this book would turn out.
Take a teacher who volunteers at a library and who has three overprotective brothers and then add in an up and coming lawyer from a powerful family, and tensions are going to rise.
From the time I met Josie and Ches, I wanted these two to overcome the obstacles in their path for becoming a couple. I think two of my favorite characters are Ches’ uncle Jack and his aunt. These two individuals demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ in everything they say and do.
Truly, this book was filled with ups and downs, and twists and turns, and even a 5K, but I loved reading every word of it.
So check out this book for yourself.
I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.
Cute read. I enjoyed meeting all the characters and seeing the relationship Josie had with her brothers. I felt so sorry for Ches with his family. Having a family that is supported and wants what’s best for you is so important and a huge confidence boost.
Ches and Josie form an unlikely friendship and it shows Ches just what he’s been missing all his life. When Ches faces troubles he calls on his aunt and uncle instead of his parents because they are very not supportive of him.
Poignant tale. Not a suspense or mystery but more a lighthearted romance that you’ll love losing yourself in.

I loved this story. I seriously didn’t want to put it down. The characters are spunky and easy to root for. And it was like falling in love myself as I followed their path through all the struggles they faced.
Good book. Enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading and reviewing the books in print format.
