A splendid book in an amazing series!
All the Xeno Sapiens are truly unique beings with all of the genetic modifications done to them. I think Winnie is the most unusual I’ve seen so far. Her nature has created a dilemma that doesn’t appear to have an acceptable resolution. Certainly not an easy one. The love of her life is Sam – a human police officer who put his career on the line to save a Xeno Sapien. Just a regular ‘good’ guy. I admire him so! This one is an emotion-filled read for me! Replete with little kid sweetness (and wisdom) and loving moments with a good man (or two). Well done, Ms. Marks. It’s a winner!
This is definitely a different kind of love story. Winnie is a wisp a xeno sapien in a and out of time living 2 different lives. She loves Sam and his daughter Olivia but she is always going in and out. Can Sam and Olivia get Winnie to stay with them forever? This was a really good story. It’s complex and has great characters Sam is fantastic and understanding. This is such a great series. Rena Marks has a talent for creating stories of Xeno sapiens with amazing powers.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read written by Rena Marks; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

Winnie and Sarah Elizabeth are two personalities in two different timelines, all in one person. Winnie/Sarah Elizabeth are both subtle and sweet individuals. Both live an unconventional life – Sarah Elizabeth being part of a co-op commune in the 1970s and Winnie as a Zeno Sapien in 2855. The characters are written in a way that despite their similarity, their personalities are clearly different.
Winnie and Sam are one of the sweetest couples, and Winnie is enamored with Sam’s charming daughter Olivia (and her best friend and partner-in-crime-and-adulting, Baby). Already they are the perfect family. Sarah Elizabeth is working on building a bigger family with her devoted, though somewhat personality-less spouse Christopher. But when the dual life becomes more complicated for them, Winnie learns something shocking about Sarah Elizabeth that at best leaves everyone devastated, and at best, leaves only one devastated. If they can change alter the past in a careful and subtle way, while rescuing Olivia from a horror from the past, everyone can get their happy endings.
This one is a tear jerker – a happy ending, but a tear jerker.

Two lives twice the feeling
Rena has a way of making you fall in love with her characters and this book is no exception you will laugh cry smile and love the emotional roller coaster this book takes you on before end happily ever after
Quite different story with the here and now and then when Winnie freezes in a different time. Winnie is really a different kind of Xenosapien since she is like a ghost, since she is colorless to other people except Sam and Olivia. There is a mystery to this story and I love that happens to the Xeno Sapiens trying to deal with Winnie’s life. Love the characters, clever storyline and plenty of action. Enjoyed this story very much. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Well worth reading!
Dual Lives
Rena Marks
When your a wisp, how do you explain where you go?
Adorable 4 year old Olivia, daughter of Winnie’s boyfriend Sam, has the grasp of what happens when Winnie “wisp-out”. Although it’s in a simple form, what truly happens is so much more complex. Now that she has fallen in love with Sam and his precious daughter, Winnie struggles with her dual lives. How can she begin to explain her other life to the man she loves in Xenia or the one in Texas?
It’s 1972 and Christopher is enjoying life with his wife Sarah Elizabeth, who referred to her as his Trekkie. She was a sci-fi geek, and he loved that about her. They are enjoying life living in a commune.
Now she’s back to 2855, and she wakes snuggled in the arms of Sam. Both Sam and Olivia realized they need to protect Winnie when she wisp-out. In this realm Winnie is blind, but have other senses that she uses. She also knows the time is coming that she needs to make some hard decisions.
To find out what they learned about Winnie/Sarah’s dual life, and what could potentially happen, you need to get yourself this book. It is a intense read with double the loving.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sam, and even his 4-year-old daughter, knows that the Xeno Sapien he loves is more than she seems. Winnie is a Wisp who sort of freezes in time. Sam wonders where she disappears to during that odd phase. Where does Winnie go? She is almost like a ghost! And then there is Sarah Elizabeth … a whole other piece of the story!
You’ll love this mystery and what happens to the Xeno Sapien trying to deal with her life. Great characters, tons of action, and a clever story that you’ll enjoy every minute reading as it takes the reader into understanding.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

This series is a favorite of mine! I always wondered where Winnie went, but never figured on what it really was! (I won’t give it away here.) Sam is so good to Winnie. Winnie is such an unusual Xenosapien because she’s like a ghost, colorless to everyone but Sam and Olivia. There’s a reason for that. Needless to say, I really liked this new edition to the series. Sam is the perfect partner to Winnie and the story had a very complex, but satisfying conclusion. Dual Lives was a pleasant surprise! 4 stars
I had no idea where Winnie went. For some reason I thought she traveled to other places and was able to get information, to spy on others and help people. I had no clue what her secret really was- it broke my heart for her and especially for Sam. But he was such an incredible man, his reaction, wow, he’s so wonderful and truly shows his love. And on the other side, I swear I was crying through parts of the book, both in brokenness for what they were going through, in their love and then in the end of the book, at the depth of their love. I very much enjoyed this book and how everything was resolved, was twisted, how horrible actions turned into the most incredible future. I cannot wait for the next book.

This book is completely original. There may be hundreds of similar storylines out there somewhere, but I’ve never come across one and I read all the time. So unusual the story remains with you after you put the book down. Would you, could you? The questions plague the imagination until you do not know where you end and the story begins.
The characters are wonderfully written, enticing and believable. The plot keeps you guessing and despite wanting a specific outcome you really are unsure how the story will end. The backdrop is deeply detailed and the interactions between characters, supporting cast and setting works beautifully.
The book description gives the potential reader an idea of what to expect, but the actual book goes above and beyond.
