I love this series! Every character has a strong presence and the story line is humorous but serious. The inspirational parts are there but not overwhelming which is nice. This is one of my favorite authors and I can honestly say I can’t wait to read more of this series.
Fan Favorite!
Even for long time fans of Christy Barritt, this series is quickly becoming a fan favorite! Elliot is such a fun character. These stories will keep you guessing and excited for more!
The Exercise of Interfering by Christy Barritt is book 3 in the Sidekick’s Survival Guide Mysteries series. The book begins with the most hillarious lip sync competition, but things quickly turn sinister when a murder occurs. And Elliot’s suspicions about her father continue to grow. The suspense in this book never ends. Pick up this entire series! You’ll read them all pretty quickly because Ms Barritt’s storytelling skills are masterful and she’ll quickly pull you in to this other world. It’s the perfect escape read for summer or any other time. I loved it! I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Elliot and her coworkers are competing in a lip-sync battle when things take a turn for the worse. Right before they’re supposed to go on stage, a dead body is discovered. It gets personal for Elliot when they find the dead guy in possession of a picture of her. She doesn’t know the man, so why did he have her picture? Could he be connected to her dad’s mysterious death?
This was another great read from Christy Barritt. I was happy that there were some new developments made with the mystery surrounding Elliot’s dad. There’s still a lot more to uncover, and more questions were raised, but this was good progress. I’m excited to see what happens next in The Practice of Prying.
I genuinely enjoyed the book, The Exercise of Interfering. I liked the way the story delves into Elliot’s connection with her father’s career as a spy in their home country. I also enjoyed getting to know more about Elliot’s character. Her quirks add a fun aspect to her personality. A great story. I’m looking forward to the next one in the series.
Love this new series and the main character, Elliot. Mysteries with a light touch. A distinct departure from Barritt’s also great other series. Delightful summer diversion. Looking forward to the next episode of Elliot’s adventures.
An enjoyable easy read!
I am loving the new mystery series by Christy Barritt. In this third installment of The Sidekick’s Survival Guide, Elliot finally begins to get some clues into what happened to her father, beginning with a dead man at a lip-syncing competition that Elliot was dreading, with Elliot’s name and photo in his pocket. Was he stalking her? Was he protecting her? Does he have something to do with her father? When Elliot and Michael begin trying to find the answer, surprising connections begin to come to light. I loved getting deeper into the inconsistencies in Elliot’s father’s death, and watching her relationships grow and develop with both her co-worker Michael and the investigating detective, Hunter. Looking forward to the next installment. I received a complimentary copy from the author. The opinions are my own.
While investigating the latest murder in proximity to Elliot, she and co-worker, Michael trace clues that bring them closer to truth about her father. Unfortunately, this invites danger to them and Elliot’s family.
I recommend this series to readers of mystery, suspense, fans of Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Monk and/or Psych. Cozy, clean fun is found inside. Brush up on your detective skills. You’ll need them to navigate the twisty maze of suspects.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
How does a person know who to trust? Will she be the next person to die? These are the thoughts that keep popping in Elliot Ransom’s mind as she tries to solve the newest murder case. She finds she has more questions than answers and now her life is more in danger. Can she solve this case before someone else she loves dies?
I love this new storyline and all the new characters. I’m excited to see how they all connect to the mysteries of Elliot’s life.
This story has so much packed into it. It is so full of suspense and mystery!
Christy Barritt is the kind of author who weaves her stories with so much action and suspense that your heart pounds and you find yourself suspicious of everyone around you, even your own family. Her books are the kind you don’t read at night, or you’ll never get to sleep. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE THESE BOOKS!
This author has a way of capturing you from the very first page to the very last. She is tremendously skilled at keeping us guessing who the bad guy is, in this story.
If you LOVE “who-done-it” stories with mystery, suspense, action, and a bit of relationship tension mixed in, you will love this book!
I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Elliot Ransom and her coworkers at the PI firm participate in a lip-synching contest, which leads to an unexpected case. As they try to solve a new murder, danger seems to be closing in. Elliot always seems to find herself in tricky situations, and this story is no different. The plot keeps you guessing and wondering when the threats will ever end. We learn more about her South American connections but aren’t certain who exactly would want her dead, just as her father ended up. The exciting adventures continue. Read this series in order for maximum enjoyment. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
If you have been following Elliot’s adventures working for a PI, this book will not disappoint. And if you haven’t, this book is a stand alone read but you will want to read the 1st two after reading this. Elliot’s PI firm is competing in a lip syncing contest when suddenly a man is found murdered backstage – with Elliot’s picture in his pocket!! Was he going to hurt Elliot? Or was he trying to warn her? Either way, Elliot is determined to find out the answer and, of course, her working partner Michael and Dectective Hunter will both be involved. Can this mystery be solved before someone else gets hurt – or maybe killed? Loved learning more about Elliot’s father and how her relationships with Michael and Detective Hunter are developing. If you like suspense and figuring out “who done it”, this is the book for you! I received a copy from the author but all opinions are my own.
The Exercise of Interfering is the newest installment in The Sidekick’s Survival Guide by Christy Barritt. The case for Eliot in this story is a bit more personal, you might say. She and her coworkers are participating in a lip sync battle when a man is found murdered before they even take the stage. Eliot has no idea who the man is, but strangely enough he is found holding a picture of her.
What begins is a puzzling, keep you guessing, nail-biting suspenseful story. Who is this man?? Why was he there? Who killed him? What is his connection to her? Eliot works tirelessly to find the answers to these questions and more while still searching for answers about her father. Is this man’s murder somehow connected to her father? You’ll have to read to find out.
In addition to getting to know Eliot and all of her quirks, I have also enjoyed getting to know Michael and Detective Hunter in the first three books in the series. I really like them both and wonder who will become Eliot’s love interest. Or will it be someone else entirely? Can’t wait to read the rest in the series to find out!
I guess technically you could read this as a standalone. However, you will be missing a good bit of background info from The Art of Eavesdropping and The Perks of Meddling. Do yourself a favor and start with those if you haven’t already had the pleasure of reading them.
I was given a beta copy of this novel by the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
I had a beta copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. What a wonderful addition to this series. Christy Barritt has written another great book in this series. I can hardly wait for the next one. There is great action and the characters are interesting and varied. Good reading for sure.
