Three Short Fantasy Stories 3.5*
A Storm in a Teacup 4* by Kate Pearce
Mally can’t believe that her fated mate is someone who fears the sea. Hezekiah Makepeace is a Cambridge scholar who was rescued from drowning as a baby and has feared water ever since, whilst she has the sea in her blood. She soon finds out that they are physically compatible but doesn’t know how to explain her true nature which leads to trouble when he wants her to move to Cambridge. A cute story.
Once Upon a Midsummer Dream 3* by Ava Stone
Poor relation Frannie finds herself catapulted into spending time with the widowed Duke of Markham and his rambunctious daughters. She quickly develops feelings for him but accepts that it is more likely that she will become the girls governess than his wife. Very little interaction with ghosts and pixies in this story and very much a case of Insta-love, which I didn’t really feel.
Captured by Fate 3.5* by Nicole Locke
Troublesome brownies and a woman who speaks in riddles confront Lt Hugh Fenton when he arrives in Bocka Morrow, both to attend a wedding and complete the terms of his uncle’s will. The reader needs to keep their wits about them to understand this story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another lovely novella well written with strong characters, I loved Hezekiah who certainly had his world tipped upside down as he fell for Mally
