Thiago and Iskvien survived a dangerous curse, but will they survive the coming war?
True love will face the ultimate challenge when a dark goddess rises, secrets threaten to tear them apart, and a queen will stop at nothing to gain revenge.
Whew! Such an intense book in an intense series. I loved it and can’t wait for the next one. Absolutely adore Vi and Thiago together. There’s a desperation to their scenes, where we know their emotional bond is strong but they’ve lost so much time together that each time they’re apart, they “greet” each other with a hard kiss. *swoon* A fabulous mix of sorcery, fae mystery, court intrigue, and shifts between knowing who is friend vs foe. Andraste, Vi’s sister, steals the scenes she’s in and then breaks my heart. Hoping she gets her own book/spin-off. Absolutely recommend reading this series in order.

I have to admit that this book has a difficult start. Bec McMasters is a rockstar of world-building and perhaps, we may have reach the boundaries of what a reader can absorb. Crown of Darkness is book two in the Dark Court Rising series. Two things: 1. This not a standalone and 2. there are a lot of characters many of whom were introduced in the first book. This is a complicated story featuring so multiple storylines, each with its own backstory.
However, once you get into the groove of the characters, I LOVE where the author took the storyline. It was dramatic and unexpected. And although there is a cliffhanger, I am utterly satisfied where the narrative is going and am incredibly excited to see what comes next.
I received an advance copy for review and my opinions are my own.

THIS BOOK!! OMG. I couldn’t put it down. Loved the first one, but then this one came and I loved this one even more. I can’t even… the ending of this book… and now I have to wait.
Grab this book, but definitely read book one first.

I am simply stunned. I will admit I am one of those people who read the second in a trilogy accepting that it will most likely be a way of connecting the first to third book. This book was amazing. It did not stop. It cascaded from the first moment to the soul clenching last. Thiago and Vi captured me in this book even more than the first. In the first book, so much of the story is built around Vi trying to figure out what is going on that you spend much of it being wary of love. In this book, their passion blazes.
That being said. Do keep in mind it is only part of the story. Do not read it with out reading the first or the knowledge that you will have to read the third.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

OmGGG! I need the next one now!! NNNNOOOO, I can’t wait so long to read it. This is so good!!!! I’m loving how all of the side characters are being flushed out more!!!! I can’t wait for all of their stories!!! But I seriously can’t wait!!! Wow and totally things happened that I didn’t see coming at ALL.
These covers are also fantastic. I guess Seduced by Darkness when it comes out in Jan. 2021 will have to hold me over until then. I’m all about this series in which I think its Bec’s best work. I want to cry at the end and seriously who will end up with Andraste. Oh gosh my heart just breaks. Seriously I can’t wait for Thiago and Vi’s finale and to see the rest of the cast’s books! Bec needs to write/release the rest of the series in consecutive order lol. That’s how much the waiting will hurt, but I know it will be great!
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
