Life as a monster is a sh*t pile with a cherry on top…It’s hard to be a monster in a world full of goddesses and humans. Especially when, on a rare occasion, you happen to accidentally kill a person here or there. And people, for some reason, seem to think you’re the bad guy. Crazy, right? But if there’s one thing a monster knows, it’s that life can always get worse.Like when you’re enemies, the … worse.
Like when you’re enemies, the gargoyles, finally manage to get their hands on you. And as hot as that sounds, they’re not exactly putting their hands where you want them, if you know what I mean.
Because while the rest of the world sees gargoyles as the sexy white knights charged with protecting humanity, they’re kind of protecting them from us… by taking our heads.
So that’s what we’re dealing with now. Being hated by the world, kidnapped by hot gargoyles, and preparing for whatever the next disaster might be.
It’s strange though. Sometimes the Fates have plans and maybe this time we monsters might get our happily-ever-afters too.
MONSTERS AND GARGOYLES is a box set of the first three full-length books in the Monsters and Gargoyles series: Medusa’s Destiny, Keto’s Tale, and Celaeno’s Fate. These are steamy reverse harem stories set in modern day, with sassy heroines, and hot-as-sin gargoyles. So, be ready for three standalones about Medusa, a mermaid, and a harpy, in a shared universe that will leave you begging for more.

If you’re familiar with Lacey Carter Anderson’s stories, you don’t need to read my notes. You know whether you love her stories (as I do) or don’t care for all the hot sex and supernatural beings. So don’t waste time reading my notes, dig into the three stories, and enjoy!
If you’re not familiar, read the blurb and if you still are hesitant, read my notes.
Medusa’s Destiny
Byron (bad cop gargoyle) and Harold (good cop gargoyle) kidnap the monster, Melissa Gorgon, *the* Medusa. Byron finds himself strongly attracted to Medusa, despite viewing her as an enemy. Carrying her as he flies turns out to be an arousing experience. They meet up with Forrest, the third gargoyle, and he asks Harold, “after she completes their assignment, how are we going to kill her?” Byron and Medusa have their clothes stolen and walk to Eros’ temple naked. They are given ambrosia, which acts as an aphrodisiac. Harold and Forrest investigate what’s taking so long and also get drugged with ambrosia. The four of them spend an erotic sex-filled night. Though they do manage to steal the statue. Next to succumb is Marcus, the alpha, after they steal Aphrodite’s necklace. Then back to the Gargoyle sanctuary, where Medusa is still considered a monster, and “monsters must die”. But fate intervenes in a miraculous way and Medusa’s destiny becomes clear. There are many more plot twists and turns throughout this story and a lot of hot, steamy, erotic RH sex (eventually four on one!), so skip this if you aren’t into vigorous sexual solo, coupling, tripling and quadrupling.
Keto’s Tale
Keto is a goddess but is enslaved by her cruel brother. She has lived a life of pain and suffering despite her powers and her control of the monsters of the sea. Finally, her brother uses her to get control of the four sea dragons in a heartless plot to sacrifice her. Amazingly, she is rescued by four gargoyles who bring her sexual pleasure for the first time, and then many times thereafter, described in steamy, erotic detail. To remove the slave collar from her neck, she must see Hephaestus. She meets Cerberus, not a three-headed dog, but a female shifter, apparently an old friend. She finds out where Hephaestus is but on the way is captured and again tortured by her brother. The gargoyles, strong as they are, are no match for a god. The conclusion is an amazing adventure, with twists that are an unexpected but welcome outcome. Keto’s Tale was hard to put down, it’s a very exciting story on several levels. I didn’t want to stop until I reached the end. We are left wondering what became of Lamia and Cerberus, hopefully in a future tale?
Celaeno’s Fate
Pay attention to the point of view at the beginning of chapters. Thought of as a monster, a cruel harpy, with the body of a bird and the face of a woman, without kindness or empathy, but she is completely misunderstood, a victim of legends and tales. Her emotions affect birds; anger will make them attack. She is captured by Grey, Journey, and Ender, three gargoyles, who are on a mission to help people attacked by birds. Grey is the “bad cop” who believes the worst of her despite being attracted, while Journey and Ender have trouble seeing her as a monster. Elite Edgar has a devious plan to kill all the female monsters after they have given birth. He will use their progeny to train into his personal army. Journey is the first to yield to the mutual attraction; then Grey quickly followed by Ender and Journey as they find her naked in a bed. A final confrontation with an evil witch, and the guys are convinced Calaeno is not a monster, but their woman to be protected.

Absolutely loved this series full of so many twists and turns, Each storey is different yet they flow into each other, Very well written and totally binge-worthy
I absolutely loved this box set! From the captivating storylines to the interesting characters this author has created an unforgettable world. Getting the first three books in one box set makes for a perfect day of quarantine reading. I look forward to reading more books in the Monsters and Gargoyles series.
This includes the first three books in Lacey Carter Anderson’s Monsters and Gargoyles series-Medusa’s Destiny, Keto’s Tales, and Celaeno’s Fate. This is a paranormal, reverse harem or why choose romance. Each book cam be ready as a standalone with the same basic theme. To Gargoyles, good and evil are very black and white. They see all Monsters as evil, regardless of their circumstances. The monsters, Medusa, a mermaid, and a harpy are cast as villians in the Gargoyles minds, and as monster hunters, they will do what they must. This is a really creative series that all paranormal romance fans will enjoy.

Are they really monsters or misunderstood? Stories have been told about these three women for thousands of years. That they are monsters. But they have all been victims, cursed, and enslaved. Now gargoyles have been sent to kill them, or enslave them again. but what the gargoyles find is not monsters, but love and the key to the survival of their race. With strong writing and full of action, adventure, wonderful characters and world building these are the stories of three women. Women believed to be monsters simply because of who they are.
Of course we shouldn’t believe everything we’re told because things aren’t always what they seem. I loved how the author took these mythological creatures, we all probably grew up reading about as villains, and told new and sexy stories.
Definitely a recommend from me.

I enjoyed this box set so much! It’s reverse harem which I love but the stories suck you in and don’t spit you back out until you’re done. I discovered a whole new world and the character growth and different stories had me unable to put this down.
I really enjoyed this story, I love the hate turned to love story of it all. The Medusa story was honestly my favorite.

All the legends are true…to an extent. We delve into this Greek-inspired world full of monsters and gargoyles where everything isn’t quite what it seems. Each book has a new group of narrators while building a cohesive storyline and each group has its own draw for a reader. They can be read as a series that have familiar faces popping up and are interconnected, but each can be a standalone. I was more excited for some than others but ended up loving them all. Every single story had an amazing amount of depth to the history of each monster that is explored throughout the book and you can tell the amount of research that went into the original myths.

Monsters need love too
All is not as it seems – the monsterous ladies (Medusa, Keto and Celaeno) aren’t so horrendous after all. (And isn’t that just an allegory for the vilification of women in today’s society). Each lady finds love and a family with a trio of hunky male gargoyle hunters. These males initially seek out the monsterous ladies to hunt and eliminate them, but when they realize the situation is not as it appears, then the feelings present have a chance to blossom. In the end, those feelings blossom into a pregnancy (for Medusa, it’s twins!). Redemption is sweet (plus it makes for a really great read!) and it makes me want to read about other lady monsters getting their happily ever afters!
These three stories are stand-alone in a new boxset. They are each beautifully retold stories of monster lore with plenty of action, romance and steam. I love that the monster series takes the side of the misunderstood monster. I hope this series continues. There are plenty of misunderstood monsters still out there.

I enjoyed the approach this author takes with these books. This set provides a fresh look at some of the female monsters who have been maligned and things are not what they may have seemed. So in these stories, they get to be in control of what happens to them, getting a second chance at love, taking the things they want and not being forced by a big clueless brute.
The characters are strong and many become refreshingly likable. The story lines intriguing, keeping the reader’s full attention. And having these first three monsters and gargoyles books together in one collection is a real bonus for the reader! Get your copy and enjoy, one right after the other! This set provides something special for everyone! If you want an even closer look at the books, these stories are reviewed individually as well.
This was a great boxed set filled with wonderful story lines and character work. Each book had a fairly smooth flow to it. I enjoyed having these books together in one collection.

This is a totally different take on the female monsters of myth. I LOVED IT! The monsters were very human and totally misunderstood by everyone. This book set is full of good stories. I would highly recommend this set of books.

I love, love, love that LCA looks to the Lady Monsters of Mythology and decides to give them back their humanity their soul. She shows the world that these ladies were falsely wronged centuries ago by men who could only see them at face-value. She is giving them a voice and a story and I love it. Each backstory and subsequent love story makes me: 1) want to go reread my mythology again, 2) be kinder before I judge someone. These stories about Monster Ladies getting a second chance at love with these stone hunks is a must read. It’s even better now that they are together in one book.

Lacey Carter Anderson is my newest addiction! I swear, if you have not read anything by her, then what are you doing? Everything I’ve read so far by her is a masterpiece! I cannot wait until I’ve read everything she has to offer!

Woah this box set is amazing. You get the first three books in this series and they are stand-alone which is a plus. So you don’t need to read them in any order in my opinion. But if you are like me, then you always have to read the first book in a series regardless if they are stand-alone or a continuation. So I will try and break this down with what I thought of each book. I loved them all! I have to say that I went through a lot of conflicting emotions so be prepared.
Medusa’s Destiny- Medusa, Harold, Marcus, Byron, Forrest
So you have Medusa who gets captured by some gargoyle monster hunters. So why is she being hunted? Well, the hunters need her help to save their race. However, it seems that these hunters seem a bit set in the ways that they are taught and what they are told about the monsters they have hunted. Will she help them? Will she be able to change what they think of monsters. All I know is that there are always good/bad monsters. I was shocked once I read her story
So how will this play out?
Keto’s Tale- Keto, Clark, Max, Arthur, and Steven
This one was really good. You have a sea goddess Keto who is trying to escape the clutches of evil only to be rescued by the monster hunters. However, there is a little white lie going around. She doesn’t tell then who she really is. So what happens when the guys find out. Will the time she spent with them be able to change their mind about monsters. This band of brothers seems to have some discord amongst them. They all have a past that they just cannot get rid of or can they. Who will break first in this book?
Celaenos Fate- Calaeno, Grey, Ender and Journey
Ohh fate can be fickle and cruel. So one day everything just goes bad for Celaeno and is kidnapped by the monster hunter. Let us just say that I do not like Grey for most of this book. The hunters enlist her in finding out what is going on in a small town. So there is a lot of bickering and sassiness in this book. There was also a bit of information that was provided and I got goosebumps. So will the guys find out is she is truly is a monster. I would have loved to have known is if Journey told the guys about the secret he is holding in?
All three books are totally worth it. You will have a love/hate relationships with some of the characters. Don’t worry they make it up with some smexy times. I cannot wait to read more of the series.

Actually, when I read that those were supposed to be just some light hearted, fun stories, I was expecting not much of a plot, not much character development and just an enjoyable read where characters fall in love with each other, have sex and then decide that they’re gonna be together for the rest of their long and happy lives. I guess that’s also why the rating of this book eventually had to be a five star rating. It’s not that those books were masterpieces, but they were so much more than I expected!
But, before we dive into that part of this review, I wanna start with saying that Andersen has an amazing writing style. It’s easy to read, it’s not overly flowery and yet she brings all those emotions and conversations across perfectly. Every character sounds slightly different and even though the writing isn’t too detailed, I got a very clear sense of direction and how the scenery looked. It was one of the reasons this book was so pleasant.
The other reason was the plot and how much of a plot there actually was. Not only is there a big story arc, spanning over all the different books and still going strong when I finished the third story, but every book also clearly has its own subplots. Yes, there is a lot of sex in these books (I’ll get to that), but there’s also a lot of action, we get to see a lot of the mythological world and its creatures and all characters have to learn and grow and they all DO learn and grow because of each other, because the other is not who they think they are.
But most of all, I got the feeling that those books were about female empowerment, about girls who were victims, victims of abusive men, victims of raging Gods, victims of false rumors and lies. Those girls, those monsters, are claiming their lives back, their narratives. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t mind the loads of sex scenes. They were about the girls being in charge, in control, taking what they wanted because they wanted it. They were part of a bigger storyline, where the girls were learning that they deserved better, that they deserved to be respected and loved. And within those storylines we encounter some surprisingly heavy themes and I think they were really well done.
So, I feel a little addicted right now and one way or another I will also get my hands on the rest of this series!
