One love-struck businessman; one compassionate Sioux maiden; one heart-wrenching decision. Is the power of love enough to save an entire tribe? Five years ago, when Edward James settled in Bear Creek to manage the mines, he saw a future of business and opportunity. He didn’t plan to fall in love. But since the moment he met Morning Sun, his world has been turned upside down. If only her family … only her family would accept him, he could be the devoted husband he longed to be, but how can he convince them that he’s worthy of Morning Sun’s love?
Morning Sun wants nothing more than to marry Edward, but can she really ask him to give up his life to live with the Sioux? She’s loyal to the tribe, but she can’t ignore the power of her feelings.
But Morning Sun’s father isn’t their only problem. Bear Creek is under threat. The US military plans to banish the Sioux to a reservation, taking Morning Sun away from Edward forever. If they run away together, they can save their love, but what will become of the tribe?
Can their love survive the harshest of tests?

I listened to this one on audio. The narrator, Alan Taylor is fantastic!
This was an excellent book. The characters of course are great, you can’t expect anything less from this author. The story was great and incorporated real-life historic events, like the army rounding up Indians and putting them on the reservation. There were a few twists I did not see. I would say this book is a bit more complicated and detailed than others this author has written so far in this series, but it needs to be. Excellent. I look forward to reading/listening to more in this series.
3.5 stars- The Pawnee chief comes to warn the Sioux chief of trouble heading their way.
Edward James is the mine foreman and is seeking one of the Sioux women but her father isn’t having it even though he is half Indian.
A group comes into town claiming they are to round up all the Indians which causes friction. They want proof they are benefiting the town to stay on the land. A plan is made to have the Sioux help in the mines. Greed comes into play with these outsiders after they discover there is gold involved.
I requested this audiobook from http://www.audiobooksunleashed.com for free and have voluntarily left this review.
I enjoyed this story a lot! The part I disliked the most was Morning Sun’s “dream”. There were many parts I loved!
As usual, the narration was wonderful!
It’s a good story well written. So for me this story leaved a lot to be desired, I don’t like hypocrites. There is an old saying, Do do as I say not as I do. A lot of people have this problem. They say one thing and do as they want. Cruel to others but cause all kinds of problems if they are treated like they treat others. Two faced, this story says a lot along those lines. But there are some that can be trusted. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story gives an interesting look into Indian life in the time of the army rounding up the Indians to move them onto reservations. I love the relationship between the Sioux tribe and the residents of Bear Creek. Really enjoyed reading this book.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
I love the residents of Bear Creek, but I didn’t think Edward was ever going to get to marry Morning Star. This book is both wonderfully sweet and romantic and sad because it tells of the mistreatment of the Native Americans. There is humor, romance, violence and a happy ending. I look forward to finding out what is in store for the residents of Bear Creek, the Sioux tribe and Brown Bear, in particular.
Well written and both heart warming in ways and heart breaking in ways. A story of a love of people from two different cultures and the problems they encounter in many different ways. A look at the Indian culture and the things that were forced on them and sometimes what happens in some intense situations. These two really loved each other but have a lot to overcome. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
