What Impact Will a Dying Mother’s Tragic Prediction Have on the Life of Her Newborn Daughter?
In the hectic halls of a mental hospital, a woman pleads with the nurses to attach a handwritten poem to the daughter she’s about to give birth to. The nurses tell the woman she’s overreacting because she believes she won’t survive childhood. But just as she predicted, the woman who gives birth to … woman who gives birth to Sonnet slips away shortly afterward.
Sonnet has led a charmed life. She’s beautiful, a world-renowned violinist, and she’s engaged to a handsome man that seems to adore her. Adopted at an early age, Sonnet has never been curious about her birth mother until her eighteenth birthday—the day the woman who gave birth to her asked her to read the left-behind poem.
While she’s still trying to cope with her birth mother’s words, tragedy strikes, and in an instant, everything changes. How will Sonnet navigate life when she can no longer rely on her beauty and talent? As everything unravels, Sonnet learns that everything she counted on was just well-disguised quicksand.
How could her mother have predicted the future so well? Was she truly crazy or is there more to the story?
Then, Sonnet begins to receive poems from an unknown sender that launches her on a journey of self-discovery. Will she come to believe that God loves her for who she is on the inside? And even if He does, how could anyone else? A touching, heartwarming story that will leave you feeling hopeful about life and its possibilities.

Here’s what readers say about the books in this series:
“This is a new author for me. As an avid reader of Christian/ Inspirational fiction, Ms. Geremia has written a fascinating, gripping story, that compels me to say so here. I haven’t given but a few reviews over many years and it takes being blown away to make that happen. But this is masterpiece work in my view. If I had the funds, I would buy loads to give away. I just don’t have the words to express. That’s what makes a masterpiece. Looking so forward to upcoming books by this author.”
“The journey of the main character is hard and intense. I recommend this book to readers who want to be moved by words. I’d just like to offer one word of caution… once you start reading this book you may not want to put it down until you finish reading it to the last page. It’s that good.” M. Bertrand
Excerpt
The woman looked around the room, panic overtaking her crystal blue eyes. “Sonnet,” she whispered breathlessly. “I want to name her Sonnet. And I need you to make sure this poem stays with her.”
The nurse, who had seen her fair share of nervous mothers in the delivery room, nodded and smiled. “Now give us a big push, won’t you dear?”
The woman took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She didn’t let go of the nurse’s arm.
And then she pushed. She forcefully expelled every fear, every sadness, and every regret she’d been holding inside of her for months. And as the screams and the air left her mouth, she felt tiny pieces of her life shatter, fly out of her and scatter deliriously across the room.
But at that moment, she didn’t mourn for herself, for the days she wouldn’t get to live, but she mourned for Sonnet. Because just as she understood that she was about to die, she also knew with certainty the kind of life her daughter would live.
And she grieved for it.

This is the first time I’ve read this author, and I will definitely be looking for more books from her!
What I loved about this book is the transformation of the main character. She begins as a very, very self-centered young lady but comes to realize that there is more to life than just what is on the surface. The character development and setting as described by Ms. Geremia are vivid and pulls the reader right into the story. This was a hard book to put down because I was anxious about what was happening next.
I received this as an ARC but all the review is voluntary and the opinions are all my own.
I highly recommend this book for those who love contemporary fiction, Christian fiction, and an unexpected HEA.
This is an incredibly well written book that kept me glued start to finish! The main character, Sonnet, starts the story on the top. She was beautiful, talented and living with the want for nothing. In an instant her life as she knows it is nothing but a memory. I found myself straining with desire to step into the story to see what was happening but at the same time the descriptions and telling of the story were so vivid I didn’t need to! You travel with her in her discovery of who she really was and what her birth mother could have meant in the poem she left for Sonnet to read on her 18th birthday, especially when the trauma she just suffered seemed to be a fulfillment of it. It was captivating to see her discover who she was herself, who she could truly count on and how to proceed from there. What did her mother really suffer through? Was that tied to what had just happened to her? Is there more of a threat on her life and if so, how can she figure out where that threat is coming from? Why is it that she can’t get away from the distinctive feeling that she needs to find out who God is and how He can play a part in her life? Is He the one who can provide the true basis for all she needs to build the new Sonnet from here on? Will her violin still be able to hold it’s place of beauty & serenity for her? I promise you will be captivated reading of Sonnet’s journey from her past, the present and discovering what her future holds!
This was the first time I have read from this author but certainly won’t be the last!
I received this as an ARC from the author but the review is my voluntary & honest opinion.
What would you do if your fairytale life ended abruptly?
April Geremia takes us on a suspenseful journey to find answers about Sonnet’s past which asks more questions of her present and causes fear in deciding her future. Sonnet’s journey takes her from depending upon outward beauty to seeing inward beauty as God sees it.
Geremia also helps us see that God allows us to go through hard experiences so that we reach for Him.
This book has no bad language or inappropriate scenes and is suitable for teens and older.
I received this book from the publisher/author free of charge with no expectation of a positive review.
