A home for her daughter
A Home for her Daughter is a wonderful story. It had my attention from start to finish. I loved Riley who is Janie daughter. Such a cute little girl and so smart. Janie and Drew are in Mary Applegate will. Due to the request in her Will they have to work together. Will they be able to do what Mary Applegate ask? Janie and Drew both have things to work out from their past. I love books with children in it. Riley character really bought a lot to the story. Riley was definitely my favorite character in A Home for my Daughter.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.
What could be more important for any mother but a home and security for her child? That is just the situation Janie and her little girl find themselves in when she finds out she inherits land, a home, and a camp. However, the will has a catch. Her one time crush Drew also has inherited part of the land and both must work together to open the camp by July 4th or risk losing all.
Both Drew and Janie have had some very sad times. Janie is a divorcee from an abusive marriage. Drew lost both his wife and daughter and was unable to save them. Both are carrying a lot of weight on their shoulders. And both want to see little Riley have her home and security.
Watching Janie and Drew work together to open the camp opens up the possibility of second chance of love for both of them. Starting out as friends working toward a common goal, even with all the obstacles (which are plenty), shore up their happily ever after relationship.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
This is a heart-tugging story of two people who have each suffered great loss, but find themselves faced with the opportunity for a bright future—if they can find the courage to step out in faith and accept the new start that’s been presented to them. It takes courage for both Janie and Drew to trust each other and accept the risk of being hurt by life again. At the heart of this story is Rachel, a lively, spunky seven year old who has also experienced a series of unwelcome changes. It’s for Rachel’s sake that Janie and Drew team up to reopen Rocky River Camp and give Rachel the home and future that Janie could only dream of providing for her. For Janie, it will take rediscovering the faith she had as a child. For Drew, it will mean stepping out of his sorrow to embrace the faith he already possesses, and trusting God to direct his next steps.
I enjoyed this sweet story with the themes of faith, hope, and love. The author did a great job of drawing me into this story through the compelling characters of Janie, Drew, and Rachel.
Please note: This book does contain references to spousal abuse. If this is a trigger for you, I wanted you to be aware of this before you read the book.

Oh my has this been a wonderful story to get lost in. I don’t think I have read this author before. I am questioning why after reading this remarkable book. The author is able to express emotions with tenderness and I found myself wanting to move to the little town described in the book. The people there are friendly, helpful and caring.
Bringing two people back together can be tricky at times. The story can become stale and predictable. In this book it surpassed everything I could imagine. Janie and her sweet daughter Riley find themselves the owner of land and a house. Janie’s dreams are coming true when she sees the potential in the land. But there is one small catch to receive the inheritance.
Drew has been lost for the last few years after the tragic loss of his wife and daughter. He blames himself everyday for their deaths and stumbles through life shutting everyone out. All that is about to change when he finds out he has inherited land . A very wise and loving woman has put in her will stipulations on how Janie and Drew will be able to claim their inheritance. What impact will it have on their lives?
I liked the way the author handled Janie’s destructive marriage. It was hard to read what she went through and it hurt to know that she hid it from everyone. Riley doesn’t understand why her dad doesn’t want to see her. Her need to have a father figure in her life made it easy to see why she took to Drew so fast. Their bond was quite cute and I loved how Drew was drawn to Riley as well. Will Riley help Drew get over the pain of losing his daughter?
The excitement of Janie and Drew working together to build a place for children and families to come have fun in the outdoors was intriguing . There are a few hiccups along the way, but the author shows us through faith how God can heal broken hearts. I loved how Janie at sone point knows she needs to open up to Drew about her past. They both carry baggage that hinders them from moving forward in their lives. The story is a great example of trusting God, allowing Him to heal wounds and believe in yourself.

Heartwarming and delightful read of two people healing from a past of pain and loss.
To work through his grief Drew hid and isolated himself. To work through her’s Janie sort a new life for her daughter and herself. The rambunctious Riley kept this story enjoyable and filled with humor. Her energy was contagious.
I admired how Janie and Drew worked together to fulfil a dying woman’s wish and in the process heal from their past, find love again and enjoy a beautiful life making it adventurous for others.
Their’s is a story to warm the heart and remind us that no matter what God is always in control even over the most dire of situations.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
A Home for Her Daughter was a very moving second chance love story. Both Janie and Drew had a lot of emotional baggage to get past in this novel. They had both experienced loss and disappointment in their lives. Janie hoped for a safe home for herself and her daughter after years of being in an abusive marriage. The inheritance she received offered her that chance.
Drew didn’t think there would ever be a new, fresh start for him. He carried crushing guilt over the loss of his family and didn’t feel he deserved anything good in life. Stepping up to help Janie and her daughter was extremely hard for him, yet provided a renewed desire to live and love again.
These characters were very likable and had good chemistry together. I loved the epilogue!

Newly divorced single mother, Janie, and widower Drew have until the 4th of July to revive the camp that they attended as children, or lose the generous second chance they’ve been given.
Janie’s daughter is a cheerful, upbeat girl named Riley. She loves to read, animals and the outdoors. Riley instantly latches onto Drew, wrapping him around her little seven-year-old finger.
This was a quick heartwarming read, about two hurting hearts drawn back together by the unique stipulations of a will. Janie is a great mother, and wants to do everything she can to give her daughter a fresh start, and the camp seems like an answer to a prayer. Drew is a Park Ranger and all around nice guy, he is great with kids, and has a lot to bring to the table by way of skills and ideas. An enjoyable read, with characters that you can cheer for all the way.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A Home for Her Daughter is my first introduction to author Jill Weatherholt. I have no idea why that is. I thought this sweet romance was a wonderful quick read. I did find it somewhat predictable but still so very good. Janie and Drew were a great pair. I loved their undeniable chemistry. Little Riley was a perfect addition to their story. I enjoyed reading every single word of this book. I had it all read in just a couple of hours – hours well spent. So good.
A Home for Her Daughter is getting four and a half stars from me. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean and heartwarming romance. I would love to read more by Jill Weatherholt in the near future. This one is definitely worth a read.
I received A Home for Her Daughter from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
This is a book that is gentle on the soul. It pulls at the heartstrings as it draws readers into the lives of a divorcee and a widower. The relationship unfolds through the shared effort of rebuilding a campground. A child helps guide the story with her innocence and laughter. Overall, this is a story that evokes a smile and restores hope in the values and dreams we hold dear.
