Ali winters new series The vampire debt was a awesome read! It has a great storyline with some very interesting characters as well. Our villain vampire Alaric Devereaux is going to make Clara pay for killing Rosalie a vampiress who he was close to and when clara’s father owes him money he takes her in exchange for the debt and so starts his revenge, but the more their together he starts to see a different side to clara and no matter how he fights it the attraction and the need to mark her and make her his is building and soon he makes a bargain with her. If she can draw blood he will let her leave and return to her family but if not she will be his prisoner forever and can never leave. Everything would be so much easier if clara didn’t want alaric’s kisses ,but every time she goes to draw blood it’s all she can do not to cave into her desire to be his lover. And just as things are getting heated up the vampire queen sends some of her court to see why alaric hasn’t marked or killed clara. With vampires, high demons and a loyal bat named cherno this story is only just begun. The chemistry between alaric and Clara is sexy and hot with great steamy moments and a good amount of build up! Can’t wait for more from this couple. It doesn’t so much end on a cliffhanger, but more like a continuing of this tale. Book 2 The Vampie Curse comes out in July! Until next time Luv’s
Interesting story with a cool gothic feel. Clara lives in a world where vampires exist. Her mother was killed by a vampire, so Clara hates vampires and takes the first opportunity to kill one. Unfortunately, it puts her further into the vampire world. Also unfortunately, Clara’s dad is a horrible father; he gambles away all their money, so they barely have any food. Clara is 21 and can live on her own, but she stays for her sister; which really she should’ve gotten the sister and herself out of there sooner since her father offers the sister in exchange for his debts to a vamp. Clara volunteers herself in her sister’s place, so Clara has to leave her sister with her horrible father anyway. Clara and the vamp, Alaric, don’t get off to a good start, but there’s something there between them. I enjoyed Clara’s fight and sass, but it can get annoying. She lets her hatred blind her to what is actually reality, but she does handle herself pretty well in this very dangerous world she finds herself in. Things move a bit too slowly at times, but the whole story is still really entertaining! I’m so interested to see where the story is going to go! I really enjoy the intense dynamic between Alaric and Clara; they are enemies and are constantly at odds with each other, but as time goes on, they begin to understand each more. The connection between them really comes through. The whole story has a cool vibe, and the story felt unique to me. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
if you haven’t picked this one up, you need to!! fabulous!!
Fantastic story
Do you like things that go bump in the night? Do you like slow burn romances? If yes, then The Vampire Debt is for you.
Ali Winters has written one of the best vampire romances I’ve read in a long while. With twists and turns and epic descriptions, we’re taken along for the ride. Her pacing is good, the characters are relatable, and the long, slow build from suspense to confusion to suspense to shocking feelings is perfect.
I’m definitely waiting for book two!
Top of my to read list right now!
Clara is in a lot of trouble. And she knows it. Killing a vampire is punishable by death, and when one appears on her doorstep, she’s convinced he’s come to collect his debt. But looks can be deceiving, and after spending time in his home as his “prisoner,” her feelings begin to change and she quickly realizes she may be in more danger than she originally thought.
I tend to gravitate toward more action-driven plots over character-driven ones, but this book hit all the marks for the PNR genre AND did an excellent job keeping my attention. The characters were interesting enough to have me reading on. Not to mention Alaric and Clara’s sexual tension was on point. I love the enemies to lovers premise. I’ve never wanted two characters to just kiss like I did in this story!
My only criticism would be with the ending because a new(ish) character was brought in (new to Clara at least) and the tension was ramped back up only to be left hanging. The extra danger in the last two chapters made the cliff-hanger ending more noticeable. I’m not a fan of abrupt endings in general, but it succeeded in making me want to read onto the next book, so the author hooked me.
An excellent read. Winters’s writing voice is smooth and easy to read. This book has everything I need. Vampires, an old-school setting, hate to love trope, and homages to Beauty and the Beast and Pride and Prejudice! Loved it from beginning to end.
For every reader who loves tales of vampires. Ali Winters has delivered another gem into our hands. The characters are lovable, the plot is intriguing, and the story held my attention until the final pages. This was a well enjoyed read.
Clara has taken it upon herself to be her sister’s protector and and care giver. Clara also wants revenge for her mother’s death, and she despises vampires because of her need for revenge. Clara is given to Alaric to settle her father’s debt. Alaric dislikes humans because one hurt someone dear to him, and even so saves Clara multiple times. It is very bewitching to read the push and pull of their desires and the relationship forming even though they both say they don’t want it. Will they get past their need for revenge? Read to find out! Page turning, fast paced read….I can’t wait to read the next book!
A mix of Jane Austin, Vampire Diaries and Beauty and the Beast in a whole new story. The world building and writing is superb. I have fallen in love with the characters.
I am absolutely giddy and flushed after reading this extraordinary vampires tale!! I want to squeal and shout out just how much I absolutely loved Clara and Alaric!!! This is a cunning and crafty twist to a Beauty and the Beast retelling! There is danger and daring and desire packed into this. Alaric is alluring and even though he’s not human, he posses these human like qualities such as care, protection and warmth towards Cara. It makes him the total book boyfriend package!! Add in his gorgeous good looks and he’s easy to drool over. Clara is doing her best to retain and even demand her independence. She’s losing her heart along the way. With dashes of danger, Clara is being saved by Alaric time after time and it’s sigh inducing at the least. These two are entertaining to read about and I’m very much enthralled by their growing feelings and the push and pull of their desires. Book two can not come quickly enough!! I’m more than a little anxious to see how Alaric gets Clara through the next edition! Ms. Winters took my breath away!!! This is going to steal away your heart and mind as well!! These characters are delicious and will tug upon your heartstrings!! Ali Winters has a hit upon her hands!! Join me in fangirling this ah-mazing author, pre-order this right now!!! You’ll thank me later!
I devoured this book. It did need a bit more detail to understand some of the characters’ thoughts and actions. Even so, I completely fell in love with the story. Definitely hangover inducing.
Where to start?
Miss Clara’s story starts with her being in a run-down house with her father and younger sister. She has to find a way to find food for them all to eat and money for her dad to ramble with. When her dad has to pay “debts” to a vampire for something he “did” Clara’s life gets turned upside down.
This was such an enjoyable fast page turning read!
I haven’t found a couple I’ve liked this much in a LONG time. They both are supposed to hate each other, for their own personal reasons, but they can’t fight the attraction 😉
I won’t spoil the book, and there’s so much to say!! All I can tell you is if you like vampires, fast paced, page turning, heart pounding romance novels then this book is a MUST READ!!
I am so ready for book 2! This series will keep you hooked and ready for each book.
Truly like this story, the characters are well made and their interactions are interesting and hypnotic. Yes there are some errors that some wrote complained about but the story overrides them with its hypnotic interactions between Clara and Alaric. Will definitely read the 2nd book and I hope it is longer.
Welcome to Shadow World where Vampires rule over humans and demons are real. Clara hates vampires and her hatred runs deep so deep that she kills a vampire to claim the vegeance she’s always wanted.
But soon… a mysterious stranger comes calling to settle her father’s gambling debts and in order to save her sister she’ll pay the ultimate price. She becomes the ward of Mr. Devereaux- a vampire with the end goal of making her suffer for what she did.
Jump into The Vampire Debt today and I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll love the unique twist on a tale as old as time, but with a hint of Dracula and Pride and Prejudice to boot.
The push and pull between Clara and Alaric is perfectly intense and builds up wonderfully. A book hangover I’ll gladly repeat!
Series start, so not a complete story. It was A Court of Thorns and Roses (Beauty and the Beast story), but with vampires and demons instead of fae. Our girl is very stubborn and that’s what’s going to drag this story out through a whole bunch of books. If you’re not up for the angst of Sarah J Maas, this may be your thing because it’s easier to read in a YA way or like good fanfic, but it just didn’t satisfy me and I probably won’t read the rest of this series.
Beauty and the beast with a twist…a fanged and blood drinker twisted vampire. I enjoyed this twist on the classic BATB it was an easy ready that even though I thought it would be better I will read the follow-up second book when it’s available to see if the story gets better. It was a nice escape for a few hours.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Good enough to want the next book.
Unfortunately it wasn’t very impressive.
Read the book not what hoped for
