Woo-wee for Witchywood!
Some of North America’s top film stars have descended on Whittlecombe. Is the tiny village ready for such an intrusion?
Apparently not.
Medea Toulouse, superstar movie actress, is dead, presumed poisoned.
The chief suspects? Global phenomenon, Dom Bruise and housewives’ favourite, Brian Ben-Olds.
Alfhild Daemonne, our favourite witch, has a lot on her plate. And not … witch, has a lot on her plate. And not just cake, unfortunately.
Magic and mayhem, a murder and the BIGGEST movie star on the planet? It’s the usual chaos at our beloved wonky inn!
Have you made your reservation?

OH How I love the Wonky Inn, Alf and her ghosts hold a special place in my heart, and I love when each visit is due!
This time as ever Alf is worrying, worrying about everything, she worries about her hearts true love Silvan, who is in the desert somewhere, curled up a with a camel for company (sometimes it is better not to no what Silvan is working on!) she worries about the future of the Inn clearly the boiler needs fixing it is still playing silly beggars and needs to be convinced and cajoled into working, but the coffers are running low and there are no reservations in the book. So when Witchywood comes calling who is Alf to turn them down (unfortunately it is the Inn they are needing not her!) So with Witchywood trailers for the actors and crew, a parkour course for the actors to use for filming and training,
Just before they arrive the lead actress passes away (not in the Wonky Inn thank goodness!) and Alfs witch grey cells are twitchin’
With an actor ensconced in HER bedroom with boundary issues, she and Chelsea are sharing a mattress on the floor of the ghosts attic to accommodate all the stars and crew, the local bobbie is masquerading as sound crew and why is Alf fainting like a fan girl around the aging actor Dom Bruise and oddly attracted to the head of security Bill Fox?
As ever with Alf and the spectral Wonky crew you know the action will be far more engaging than any Witchywood movie?
I truly do love the Wonky Inn, perhaps because I used to live in Devon so can picture the landscapes and the warmth of the people. But the writing is so good, Alf always knows the right thing to do for the right reasons and whilst her investigation techniques are not as always sounds as a trained officer she always gets the right result!
Highly recommend, Whilst this can be read as a stand alone as ever you get the true warmth of the characters if you read from book 1
We all know goofy and crazy things happen at the Wonky Inn. The question is what will it be this time? Now add in filming a movie there, especially one with a parkour course being built?
What has Alf gotten into now? What is up with Dom? Why does Brian keep invading Alf’s privacy? Who will find romance? Who will try out to be a part of the action?
Watch out for surprises. Can you see the best one? I totally missed it. Read the book to see what I am referring to. You will enjoy it. But I did figure it out who done it before the big reveal.
Hi Mr Hoo. You look so cute with your microphone!!!!
Hard to believe this is book 10. Easily a standalone but much more fun if you get caught on the previous books. Definitely fun, easy to read mystery.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
3.5 Stars
The story line and character work were good. The book had a fairly smooth flow to it. This was another great addition to the series.

Another exciting read. The author really knows how to weave her magic in this book. She has a knack for the characters and how they interact. Great addition to the series.
Set aside most of a day for family-friendly Magic, Murder and a Movie Star, Book Ten in the Wonky Inn Series by Jeannie Wycherley. Having survived Camp Kappa Sigma Granma, and struggling with the still recalcitrant boiler, Alf accepts the contract to be the location for the upcoming film by Toad and Newt Productions

Alfhild gets word that a that her Inn is wanted to to host the stars and others for a movie that is being filmed in there area. She is excited for the money that it will bring in. She meets with the advance team for the rooms that everyone will have. Turns out they will need an extra one, so she will have to bunk with Chastity. There is a man she has met named Bill, she is drawn to him. Alfhild has everything lined and ready for everyone to arrive. Everyone is excited to meet the starts they have loved. Everything is going as well as she can expect with the film team. Then she gets a surprise visit from George, he is there undercover due to the death of the actress that was supposed to in the film.
Alfhid and others start to look into the actors and anyone in the film. They have a few leads that come up with. When somethings start to happen to a few individuals that Alfhild starts to put everything together.
This was such an entertaining read. I really love the dynamic between the characters and the murder element. You don’t really know who did it until the very end. I didn’t go into to much detail as I don’t want to give anything away. I recommend reading this book, perfect diversion from your day.

Wonky Inn is such a fun place to visit for some lighthearted reading and witchy antics.. Jeannie Wycherley has an entertaining writers voice that pulls you in and coaxes you along into the newest escapades of a certain red-headed good witch along with her familiar, mentors, and other various ghosts and characters. I’ve read the entire series and I tend to finish them rather quickly- because they are hard to put down. So hurry up and finish Christmas 2020, please! If I have any complaints it would be that the stories seem to end too quickly!
