The movie studio needs to keep them together to promote their big movie, and they’ve sent someone to make sure I fail in my first VIP gig.
Wes Baxter. Also known as my ex.
Also ALSO known as, the guy who broke my heart so thoroughly, I had to turn myself into a self-help guru just to get over him.

Soon, love is in the air, the sparks between us are hotter than ever, and I’m seriously questioning my ‘no backsies’ policy.

The Break-up Artist is book 4 in Lila Monroe’s Cupids series of standalone romance novellas. I was intrigued by the premise of dumped and heartbroken, Eliza creating a job of blogging about breaking up that eventually leads to a book deal. That has to be the classic example of turning lemons into lemonade!
The main characters are likable enough. Eliza’s job as a break-up consultant seems to only fuel her personal pity-party about the loss of a boyfriend years ago. Talk about not letting go and living in the past!
Wes Baxter, who ghosted Eliza and turned her into “The Break-Up Artist” has apparently grown up and grown a conscience. However, I doubt I’d ever see someone who ghosted me as a potential match in the future. Letting go of that little detail, present-day Eliza and Wes are a good couple even though “explosive chemistry” doesn’t come to mind when describing them. I thoroughly enjoyed Selena, the young screen star who too easily takes back her horrid co-star/boyfriend time and time again. At times, she is the quintessential movie star and at other times, she is sweet-as-pie and down-to-earth.
The plot is well paced and straightforward. The angst is minimal, and the conflict is fairly inconsequential and easily negotiated. While The Break-Up Artist is not my favorite in the series, I did enjoy it for a quick, fun escape.
3-3.5 stars
The Breakup Artist was a delightful read.
I smiled all the time while reading it and these characters made my day so much better.
Lila Monroe writing is a sure thing to put me in a good mood especially in the gray days.
Katie became the Breakup Artist when her boyfriend, Wes, ghosted her to start anew on the West coast.
She made a blog to overcome her sadness and insecurities, and after five years spent helping hundreds people with their breakups her work is really appreciated and she is also going to release a book, but when all seems going well she meets her ex.
Wes, a Hollywood studio lawyer, has to help the couple starring his studio latest movie with their relationship issues to avoid the bad press so when by chance he meets his ex girlfriend in New York he supports the actress decision to recruit her but he doesn’t expect that things can get weird and complicated pretty fast.
Could the Breakup Artist give a second chance to her ex who has broken her heart? Pick up this book as soon as possible to find it out.
The Breakup Artist is a fun second chance rom-com that will take you away from all the craziness that life has dished out lately. It’s quirky, unique, and heartwarming. It isn’t very angsty and there’s the requisite HEA that we romance readers love.
Katie and Wes are characters that are likeable and easy to care about. They have good chemistry. And there’s all the witty banter that Lila Monroe does so well. Things didn’t end well five years ago but have they both become wise enough and grown up enough to make it work the second time around?
This is book number four of Lila Monroe’s Cupid Series. Each book is a standalone with it’s own unique story line. The Breakup Artist just may be my favorite so far but then again, I like them all so much it’s just too hard to choose. I’m giving this book an easy four stars for brightening my day and warming my heart.
This fourth in this series was a joy to read. We have a new author should she rekindle her romance with a previous lover? And how to help a famously popular couple decide how to handle their own relationship. A fun read. Don’t miss this one. A TBR addition, for sure.

The Break-Up Artist is a fun and heart warming second chance rom-com. Katie and Wes were both very likeable, easy to believe in characters, and I loved that Selena was neither entitled or bitchy. The author created a cast of characters that together added depth and colour to the story.
Second-chances are a guilty pleasure of mine, some are better than others. In this one I liked that their original break-up wasn’t cliched. Both played a part in it and though Wes really hadn’t come out of it with any honour he DID acknowledge his mistakes and show contrition. In fact the whole plot line avoided the usual cliches and was very much about BOTH characters growth and learning.
The story is quite slow burn, which worked well with the plot line, but once the chemistry ignited this pair certainly burned hot. I found it easy to believe in their connection and emotions, and really enjoyed reading their story. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
Katie is known as the Breakup Artist because her blog has helped countless others get over the brutal breakup we’ve all experienced at least once. She should know how to get over a breakup considering her ex ghosted her, never for her to see him again. But now that same ex is back in her life when the latest It Couple she’s helping seem to have acquired a lawyer intent on keeping them together, at least for appearances’ sake, or more accurately, the studio’s sake, as they’re the couple starring in her ex’s client’s new movie. Yep, THAT ex. The one who ghosted her.
Katie knows better than to let herself get involved with Wes again after he decimated her heart all those years ago, but her body and her mind cannot seem to get with the program. But Wes says he’s changed. The question is, has he really? Can he prove to her, SHOW her with his actions that he’s really changed from that selfish boy he was?
I have been so lucky that during this pandemic, a lot of the reads I’ve been graced with have been just what I needed, and this one, too is just what I needed right now. It’s sweet, it’s lighthearted and it’s got heart. I love it. Katie and Wes have that familiarity that only exes have, and their tension is pitched perfectly. I can’t wait for more of the Cupids world Lila Monroe has so lovingly created.
This is the 4th book in this unique and intriguing series and is Wes and Katie’s story. Wes is an entertainments lawyer, and after they break-up Katie turned herself into a self-help break-up guru. These two find themselves stranded at a retreat, but will they have a 2nd chance at romance? No spoilers: this is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written fun and entertaining story which is filled with drama, witty banter, and is a heart-warming and humorous all-consuming read which had me totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend for all readers.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is part of a series but I have not read any of the other books before. It seems to easily stand alone. Its a 2nd chance at love but the two are not in love at all when the book starts.
Katie is The Break Up Artist which largely is where she helps a couple realise they are better off apart and the why it doesn’t work. To help them breakup but also to figure out what they need in a new relationship. She even has written a book about the subject. She credits one of her exes with this career, Wes.
One day she runs into him in NYC, he ghosted her 5 years before and she has hated him ever since. But he is with a movie star that is in a BAD relationship and so she gets hired to come to LA and help this movie star figure out how to end her bad relationship.
Wes is sorry he ghosted Katie 5 years before because he was ghosted himself and knows how awful it is. Now he works for the movie studio and he needs the movies stars coupledom to survive until the movie is out. So he tries to make them remember the good times while Katie tries to show them why it wouldn’t work.
This was a fun story that is told in dual POV. Wes was a jerk and well in this book he is a bit of a jerk again, but it comes from a confused place. What he does know is he likes Katie and she has changed a lot. Katie was an awesome character. She sticks to her morals and she is there for her client in the good, bad and in between moments. She is the hero in this story and I absolutely loved her.
I absolutely loved reading The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe. It was so much fun to read and I loved the basis of the story so much! Katie is The Breakup Artist. What does that mean? She once had her heart so broken, she wanted to help other women avoid the downfalls of a heartbreak if she could. I loved Katie. She was smart, beautiful and very single-minded. Now she has the chance of a life-time, to help the most famous IT couple navigate through their breakup with a big movie on the way. But the last person she expected to be right along with her is the man who broke her heart all those years ago.
Wes Baxter has a job to do. He works for the studio and they want their famous couple to stay together, no matter what. But when he runs into Katie again, he is fascinated by the woman Katie is today. However, Wes is the man that once broke her heart so bad, she created The Breakup Artist. Can he save his career and win Katie back? At the same time, can Katie trust Wes again with her heart? Her job encourages moving on, but the sparks between them are stronger than ever! Their chemistry was undeniable, but both have so much at stake.
I just loved reading The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe. It was the kind of read I needed right now. It was light, charming and low on angst with great characters and a story I loved.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
4.5 Stars for The Breakup Artist book 4 in the Cupids Book Series.
What a wonderful addition to very funny Cupids Book Series, this author is certainly up there with the best when it comes to romantic comedy and The Breakup Artist was everything I have come to expect from Lila Monroe, I laughed and I smiled a lot as I got to know in depth Wes and Katie while joining them on their second chance at love.
Katie is easy to like she has many traits that we have all suffered at one time it another in our life’s, she doesn’t quite believe in herself and she lacks a bit of confidence but that is in her personal life when it comes to her career as The Breakup Artist there is no one better.
Wes and Katie have a history and Wes has never really forgiven it forgotten the girl left behind but fate works in mysterious ways and maybe this time it could be different…..
I loved Wes and Kate, I loved their story and I loved all the other characters in this entertaining read and I guess all that’s left for me to say is please one click this gem of a read you won’t be disappointed.
I was intrigued by the blurb for this romantic comedy and couldn’t wait to read. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Wes and Katie’s story. While at times they really irritated me with their antics I realize it’s to expected with the story. I did enjoy the drama and the situations throughout and want to go back and read the others in this series. It’s a clever concept and the storyline definitely keeps you interested.
Loved this one, each book just gets better and better! 5 stars!
So we have Katie, she became the breakup artist when her boyfriend ghosted her years ago, and it’s been a great run! She’s got a book coming out, and her blog is doing great, till one day when she hears her name yelled, turns and looks, only to find the man, Wes that ghosted her all those years ago. And running into him again, he’s there with a famous actress, the actress wants to hire her to help her breakup with her leading actor boyfriend.
Read along and enjoy the story as Wes and Katie rediscover each other. Grab this asap!
Katie Peter’s never asked to be known as the breakup artist. When Wes Baxter ghosted her a few years back, she poured her heartache into her blog, which eventually grew into a profession of her helping others get through a break up and over their ex. Now she has a chance to provide her services to the hottest couple in Hollywood, and her old flame Wes just happens to be the studio attorney for the golden couple.
It’s not long ago that I found this funny lady’s books, but she continues to deliver a story that sweeps me away, charms me effortlessly, and manipulates my heart strings in the very best of ways. Katie and her BFFs are the girl tribe we all need in our lives, and their interactions keep me in stiches.
I love this book so much! Not just because it’s a second chance romance, but because it shows us that, while people may grow and change, the coming together of two souls is forever. Yes, it’s full of mayhem and shenanigans from quirky endearing characters, but it’s the element of heart, winding it’s way throughout the story, that sets this book apart.
If you’re not familiar with this phenomenal series, you really need to fix that, and Wes and Katie’s story is a great place to begin. Your core will get a laugh-induced workout, you’ll love the tension between Wes and Katie, and you absolutely won’t be able to put it down. Don’t miss this exceptional romcom that is sure to leave a smile on your face and a happy sigh in your heart!
Katie got her heart trampled 5 years ago, and turned it into a career as The Break Up Artist. She’s helped so many people, is about to release a book, and has seemingly moved on. But who should she run into, after having a green kale smoothie dumped down the front of her? You got it, said hot guy who dumped her without a word years ago, Wes. Not once, but twice, the second being with famous actress Selena Owens. When Selena finds out what she does, she decides she needs her help. You get Lila Monroe’s humor & wit as Katie tries to help Selena, tries to figure out if she could do a “backsie” with Wes, and watch Wes try to fix his mistake of years ago. I loved their back and forth, their rediscovering each other, seeing the real them this time around. I loved this!
4.5 Star Review of The Breakup Artist (Cupids #4) by Lila Monroe
Lila Monroe is an author who knocks romantic comedy books out of the park. Her books are, sweet, spicy, romantic and so funny that you cannot help but fall in love with her characters and the story she weaves; I never fail to smile when I read a Lila Monroe book.
Ms. Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun and entertaining read about
Wes and Katie; I loved them both separately and particularly together. There was something about these two that got to me, particularly Wes. They were so easy to like and relate to and it made for a great read. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments and the banter between them was witty.
This was such a quirky and unique story line that you cannot help but become invested in it. A second chance at love story that certainly ticked the boxes for me.
I am so enjoying this series of standalones by Ms. Monroe!
This is Wes & Katie’s story.
As always, Ms. Monroe packs the humor, heart and heat into this story of a second chance romance.
Katie has finally come to grips over the fact that Wes ghosted her five years ago. In fact she turned her heartbreak into a lucrative career! She is a fantastic character! Katie has grown to know not to hide her real self from anyone anymore. She learns to love herself and makes no apologies for it.
Wes too is a fantastic character! Making a huge mistake of ghosting on Katie when he was young was a real craptacular decision on his part, but he felt like Katie didn’t really like him. When they meet again, the sparks fly, their chemistry is still white-hot and their interactions are witty and swoony!
This is a fast-paced read that I couldn’t put down till the very end!! Another stellar story!
3.5 ’s.
I picked up this book, my first in the series, and had it read before going to bed. It is a complete standalone and even though you will get the previous characters popping in, you won’t feel left out or behind in any way. It’s a very quick read of a second chance romance.
Katie is a break up specialist. She is “the” Breakup Artist. She will help you end your relationship so each of you walk away with a sense of full closure. What got her started was her very own heartbreak from Wes. She has made a name for herself in New York, but now she has been summoned to the west coast to help out an A-Lister. The only thing is, Wes is also there to oversee things as the lawyer to the star.
There were some funny moments throughout the book. There is also a lot of name dropping which gives you a very Hollywood feel about it all. At times I felt both the couples lacked immaturity, and the storyline had stages of unauthentic events. I liked that Katie had found herself and was more comfortable around Wes in LA. He too had changed since they had dated five years ago and I wanted more paragraphs from his POV. He was very swoon worthy. I feel fans from the previous books will get a kick out of Katie and Wes’s story.

5+ warm and fuzzy feeling stars
There are only a few authors that I rely upon for a guaranteed giggle while reading their books and Lila Monroe is amongst them. She never fails to bring the laughter and joy to her stories, as well as the occasional drama or angsty moment.
The Breakup Artist had all of these elements as well as a scorching connection between Wes and Katie that’s full of sexy banter and lustful looks. These two had been a couple once, but it didn’t last. I’d tell you why (but.. spoilers!!)
Now, five years later they met again by accident, and even though Katie has reasons for not wanting to be in the same room as Wes, she can’t help being sucked back under his spell.
This was a sweet, yet slowish burning, sexy tale that made me smile. I also wanted to kick some of the secondary characters a**es, lol.
A wonderful, mainly light-hearted read for these most trying of times that will put you squarely back in your ‘happy’ place.
A perfect book for the beautiful spring days ahead. Lila Monroe wrote a wonderful lighthearted read about second chances in The Breakup Artist.
Katie is known as “The Breakup Artist”, between her blog, clientele, and book soon to be released on the subject of letting go and breaking up amicably. Having been ghosted in a relationship herself years before and never really getting closure, she has made it her goal to seek that out for her clients and do it without baggage.
When she runs into her ex, Wes, whom she hasn’t seen since the moment he ghosted her, she not only realizes she may not have come to terms with her feelings, but she also hates realizing that her success is all due to his leaving. When they are forced to work together and she takes a closer look at everything she has been avoiding for the past several years, the breakup artist may not follow her own advice.
This entire book is light and fun, which I love about Lila’s books, but it is also a concept I wholeheartedly believe in. Things happen for a reason, people come into and out of our lives for a reason and help shape who we become at any specific time. We all have the power to grow by who we meet and if you have a chance to give someone a second chance it can display that growth and teach each other what we’ve learned by growing in wisdom and love.
This book is the perfect distraction from all of life’s worries. This is the fourth book in the “Cupids” series that centers around Katie, who is more of an anti-Cupid. Five years ago, she had her heart broken by Wes when he moved to LA without telling her and totally ghosted her. From her heartbreak, she started a blog and became The Breakup Artist, navigating her clients through their breakups. When she is hired by a famous movie star to help with her breakup with her co-star, Wes is the studio lawyer, who is playing Cupid to keep the couple together. This was a light read with a lot of laughs. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
