A blood-filled night he can’t remember changed Shaye’s life from that of a roguish young Fae lord with a love for human delights to that of a man magically bound to answer the depraved whims of a scorned Seelie princess. Only Shaye’s devotion to his family and the downtrodden Talaenian people has kept him going. Until her.Single mother Moira has learned that love is an illusion, and ruthless … illusion, and ruthless practicality and determination is what it will take to ensure a good life for her young son. She should know better than to be swept into a romance with a mysterious man with rainbow-colored eyes that make her melt. He insists she’s his soul mate.
And then there’s the magic …
Shaye is determined to prove to Moira that her place is by his side, and he’s eager to be a father to her little boy. Aside from the deep love he feels for his brave, beautiful human, he knows his anam cara holds the key to breaking his curse and ending two centuries of sexual servitude.
Unfortunately, so does his evil mistress—and she will kill to keep her prize.

OH lord, how I loved this book!!! My heart was bleeding for poor Shaye since the beginning. I love the new world created in the book and how well describe everything was. I didn’t like Rea to much, for a best friend she is way too pushy. Loved to hate Deanna, she is awful. I really want to read more books in this world!!!
An attraction so strong that almost nothing else matters. Shaye has been bound by a curse to a Seelie princess for murders that he is sure that he has not committed. Moria has been hurt so badly by her ex that she trusts no man but there is something about Shaye that there is no way that she can forget him. Love is the only way to stop the curse but the princess will not give Shaye up no matter what she does to try and break him. Will love conquer all and break the curse, or will the curse break Shaye? What about Moria, she must protect herself and her son from heartache and betrayal by anyone who threatens them. Love is strong, especially when it is with your soul mate, but so are the abuse, threats and danger that are all around. This is a must read book and I’m expecting that book two will be just as exciting.
“Okay, the beginning was promising. From the very first chapter there was a connection and did I mention dual POV? Yes! That’s the best and when the guy is already ‘in love’ thanks to the ‘fated connection’ it’s simply amazing. Tough I wasn’t sure if I was gonna like the ‘other girl’, the blurb hint an evil mistress and
I hope there wouldn’t be intimate scenes because I wasn’t sure I could deal with those scenes between them even if she forced him. And just what I thought it happened and that’s a huge no to me. I was hoping for magic that stopped the curse for a short period of time so Shaye could break it but no, that wasn’t how things happened. Maybe if the moment were just implied, it would have pissed me off but I would have continue BUT the evil princess telling that part? NO! I’m so sorry to the author because I couldn’t finish her story. It’s always sad and I feel bad but I wouldn’t have enjoyed the story. It’s just that I couldn’t deal with the main character being with someone else. And it’s not that I mind explicit scenes, as a fact, I love the details! The more the merrier, right? BUT between the main couple everything else apart is like cheating. I’m sorry, DNF.”
This is one of those books where I just absolutely loved the world the author was developing for the reader as well as the story she tried to weave with Moira and Shaye. If I was to rate this just on that alone, I would give this story 5 stars hands down.
But there is quite a bit wrong with the execution of this story that I just couldn’t get past.
First I have to point out that there was a large plot hole regarding Moira and her real-world life that I just couldn’t look past. Time moves slower in the fairy world, yet we never get to find out what happens or how Moira has fixed any problems or issues she would run into while gone. I mean before Shaye she was a hard worker with 2 jobs and going to school full-time. She also has a son who has a father, even if he is an a-hole, he’s still the father.
Second, honestly, this book was waaaayyyy too long for me. There were many times when I would skim through all the overly descripted items or rooms. I’m all for a long book. But when I feel like all the description delays any kind of progress for the characters or the story then I just get rather annoyed.
Third, I really just can’t behind Shaye taking a spot within the Seelie court especially after everything he went through for 2 centuries at the hands of Deanna. I can’t help but wonder was she just that good at hiding her evilness from her father and that within those 2 centuries he never knew what she was putting him through??? And if he did know, he never stepped in and basically turned a blind eye to his own daughter raping Shaye.
Will I continue with this series? Probably because I really want to see Rhi happy as well after all she has been through. I only hope that I don’t have to skip around or skim so much throughout that story like I did with this one.
I really enjoyed reading Forbidden Heart by Kira Nyte. The story is very well written with great character work and world building. The storyline grabbed me from the very start and kept me pulled in until the very end. I love the book cover as well. This was a great start for the series and im looking forward to reading the next book. I would recommend reading.

Shaye can’t remember the night that caused him to be bound to an evil princess for 200 years. His salvation comes in the form of a beautiful single mother, Moira. Moira has just about given up on love when she meets Shaye. Can she trust him with her son, her heart, and save him?
Emotional, heart-warming and action-packed! This book captured my attention and heart from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I fell in love with the characters and felt every moment along with them as their relationship developed and blossomed. Highly recommend!
A heartwrenching, beautiful tale of soul mates
When I first read the blurb I was intrigued. There are very few books, in which the main characters have previous children, especially in fae romance. In most books I’ve read that did, the children were often pawned off on a relative for a good portion on the book. That, refreshingly, doesn’t happen in this book. Moira is a steady and constant pretense in her son’s life, even with the traumatic issues concerning the child’s father.
Shaye is just a dream. He has definite Rhys vibes, and yet a personality all his own. He’s literally perfect, which did bother me just a tad.
State’s sister, Rihanna, is such a sweetheart. She is just wonderfully kind-hearted and does her best to help Shaye and Moira be happy.
I enjoyed the pacing of the book. Some things with Moira and Shaye seemed sudden, but they also recognized each other as soul mates. I loved that the Far kept their own nature of speech. They had a very formal manner of speaking, which I found realistic and they never deviated from it or picked up slang.
All in all? It was a heartwarming story of finding love even when you least expect it, overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and discovering a little magic along the way.
Well made characters, good world building, action, mystery, evil, magic and romance. Was truly a good read yet did have some spelling errors which did not detract from the story. Hope to read more of Shaye and Moira.
The first book in the Talaenian fae series a well written paranormal/fantasy romance story, that kept me turning pages. This is a new Author to me and I want to read more by her. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
