As a man holds his wife’s frail hand, he recounts a journey like no other… Daniel and Olivia are destined to be together. At least, Daniel thinks this the night he sees Olivia across a sea of people. As he backpacks through Australia, Daniel and Liv continue to cross paths, yet never speak. Until one night, Liv joins Daniel for a drink. And that night everything changes. Back in London, stuck …
Back in London, stuck in a monotonous routine, Daniel finds himself daydreaming of the woman with green eyes and fiery hair. Armed with only a name he begins a hunt to find her. With every passing moment, Daniel’s hopes begin to disappear. What if it wasn’t meant to be?
But then fate steps in, and Daniel and Olivia’s story can truly begin…
This is a tale of serendipity, missed chances and the power of love.

The story of Olivia and Daniel, when I read the blurb I thought it was going to be a little more light on the rom-com side but I was very mistaken this is a very emotional journey.
Olivia has very little time left in her life or so that’s what she thinks, she discovered she has a terrible tumor that is consuming her life, and that’s when things started to change, she wanted to tell her story to let her children know how she met Daniel, how they became in love and form this amazing family, Daniel wasn’t ready for this but life has a funny way to change your mind and so the story begins.
This is the story of Daniel and Olivia two souls that met a long time ago in the most unexpected situation and circumstances.. Olivia kept showing up all around Daniels’s life until a drunken night where everything started to change. The Night We Met take us on a roller coaster of emotions laughs and situations they both went through during the period of time they met and now married with a family of their own. switching from past and present Daniel and Olivia show us their story little by little but at the same time making us very emotional and somehow preparing the reader for a sad revelation or conclusion.
The night we met is a second chance novel, a book that will give you hope and faith. that not everything is written, not even if we think that is the case, life always keeps giving us surprises especially at the worst moments of our lives and this book somehow made me feel this way like there is no tomorrow only the present moment to keep fighting for the ones you love, that the last thing you will ever lose is your strength and faith that everything is ok and will be ok.
one of my fav parts of this book was getting to read all the amazing places the main characters were taking us all around, it felt like we were experiencing the same feelings and moments with them.
Overall it was a good book but get ready to shed a few tears and laugh at loud.
Can a glance make you know that someone is destined for you? Daniel is on a backpacking journey andes Olivia , but does she notice him? Sometimes it takes courage and fate or kismet that puts you both in the right place at the right moment for you to meet and actually have a conversation!
However, Daniel & Olivia still face so many obstacles before they meet again.
The author has written a very stirring book that will keep you turning the pages and you wanting to know the characters so much more. The characters are strong and believable which makes this book so tantalizing.
I definitely would recommend this book to anyone looking for a book full of emotion!
I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.
The Night We Met is an adult fiction novel of a young man and woman that keep finding each other all over the world. Over 20 years later (after a marriage and children) she asks him to write down their love story.
The year is 1996 and two twenty-year olds (Daniel and Olivia) are traveling across Australia and New Zealand trying to make the most of their summer before real world responsibilities start. Daniel has his first reporter job waiting for him in England and Olivia is starting design school in London. Their accidental meeting is the beginning of a love story that will span decades and continents.
The Night We Met is a love story but not a romance novel. It has all the highs, lows and devastating losses of a long and successful relationship. Zoë Folbigg creates a beautiful and rich story that has both incredible characters but detailed experiences of life around the world. Vistas and pubs from Australia and New Zealand come alive as do Milan, English suburbs and London. She creates a collection of characters that are a mix of the personalities (both generous and petty) that make up a couple surrounded by both family and friends. There is a scene where Olivia has had enough of a sour and selfish guest in her home that will have the reader screaming “YES, you tell her!!”
I highly recommend this beautiful and emotional novel for readers who want to fall in love with two amazing characters and their life together.

A copy of The Night We Met by Zoë Folbigg was provided by NetGalley and the publisher for review purposes
The Night We Met by Zoe Folbigg a five-star read that you will need tissues for, but despite the need for lots of tissues this is still one of the best stories I have read in a long time. It can take some getting used to the flow of words and the jumps in time and narrative, but honestly keep going as its so much more than an epic love story. You do need to pay attention, so this is not one to pick up and put down after a page or two, but if you have an afternoon in a rainy window seat, or a day in the sun pick this up and forget the world. Its not always happiness and joy, the story deals with touching and often difficult subjects but as always, this author does it with thought, care, and dignity. Sometimes we all need to have a good cry and just forget our own lives, this is the perfect story for that.
