What if you can’t feel anything anymore?
Hunter is many things: a tough cop, an ex-army ranger and a burnt-out Dom. But nothing fulfills his needs anymore, not even the men in the dark clubs he once liked to play in.
A weekend in Vegas for his best friend’s bachelor party throws up all sorts of new problems—namely a stubborn, whiskey-drinking, tough-guy, who seems hell-bent on provoking him.
… him.
What if you can’t save yourself?
Colsen is a train wreck, loaded full of explosives and headed toward a cliff. Sin City is the worst place for him: the perfect vice cocktail of drink, drugs, gambling, and sex.
Colsen’s on a path of self-destruction and he can’t find a way off.
Not until he admits what he really desires: someone to take away his suffering and save him from himself.
A burning desire…
As these two dominant men battle against each other, something else bubbles to the surface.
A connection that neither man expected.
A desire that sets them both on fire.
A word they never thought they’d say…
A desire for a Daddy.
Hunter’s Desire is book #2 in the Dark Desires series. It’s enemies to lovers, MM Daddy kink romance. If you like dominant men in uniform, kink and a heated love story, then this story is for you.

Okay then!
Daddy kink has been very hit and miss for me, some okay, some good, but not ever so many being so bloody good, but this one??
So Bloody Good!!
Hunter is a Dom, through and through but is disillusioned with the scene and wants to step away. He wants to retire for the police force. He wants. . . . something else. Colsen is a train wreck waiting to happen, after the death of his mother, he is wracked with guilt for not answering the phone and now he has been suspended from work. The weekend in Vegas to celebrate his best friend’s up-coming wedding is the last thing he needs but he won’t let his friend down. Hunter and Colsen come together, and it’s not a matter of if they will butt heads, it’s purely a matter of when. Can what happens in Vegas really STAY in Vegas?
I think what makes this one work so well for ME was this was a Daddy/boy relationship, rather than a Daddy/little one. Yes, Hunter buys Lego kits for Colsen, but thats more to focus his mind on something else. And Hunter wasn’t really a Daddy before Colsen, either. A Dom, yes, but not a Daddy. There is an age gap, yes, but Hunter is approaching 50 (much to his disgust!) and Colsen is in his 30’s. They are both working their way through what they need from the other, even if they hate each other.
And they work through their way spectactularly! Heads butt, yes indeed, and fists almost, but what gets to Colsen the most? Words. Words Hunter says in a certain tone, that pushes all kinds of his buttons he didn’t know needed pushing. I LOVED how much Colsen fought Hunter, I really did. It doesn’t take much for Hunter to find out why Colson is drinking so much, and once he does, he changes tactics to get Colson. Because Hunter WANTS Colsen like he never wanted before, and Colsen will be his boy, even if only for the weekend in Vegas.
But they can’t leave it in Vegas, and it is great reading when Colsen finds out what Hunter did, and when Hunter comes into Colsen’s space for the first time, discovering he kept some things going.
I loved it, when they finally, FINALLY, admit those three little words to each other! Very in keeping with these guys, and I loved the little epilogue.
I was to go back and read Dan and Theo’s story now, too. It’s their wedding they are in Vegas to celebrate. I want to continue with this series too, some interesting characters!
It’s been a while since I had a one sitting read, and this one just nailed it, for me.
5 sparkling Vegas stars
**same worded review will appear elsewhere**
Colsen is on a path for total destruction. Hunter is strong, lonely and a force to be reckoned with. These guys have their own demons, and doubts, but the tension is palpable. Wonderful storyline, with lots of heat
Hunter’s Desire by author C.S. Joyce is the second book in the Dark Reserve series. I found this book doesn’t have to be read in order to get this storyline at all.
There were a few things I found confusing about this book. One the prologue starts 6 months earlier, and then with no warning or ending or even start to the prologue we get chapter one. Just stating a random 6 months earlier is not a prologue. Now remember I read an arc; I hope in the finished product the author put something there. Cause it was confusing for me.
Hunter is going to a friend’s bachelor party. He is a tough cop, ex-army ranger, and a burnt-out Dom. He needs a sub to take care of but feels he is too old for that now.
Colson does not want to share a room with Hunter. He is too hell-bent on destroying himself for a friendship. He is a partner with Dan the groom getting married. He is pure rage when we meet him.
I think that they both have what the other needs. Hunter needs to be a Daddy, and Colson is in desperate need of a Daddy to help him be stable again. I loved these two together.
I loved this story and cannot wait for more from this author in the future. I know I will be in line to get the next book.
Five Shooting Stars
Luscious M/M romance between two hurting guys; hate turns to passion
My preference in M/M romance is two buff guys and this one delivers just that! I loved the premise of this book but there needs to be some serious proofreading being done. There were missing words, wrong tenses, wrong words. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is b/c the story was so good. It would have been so much better with proper editing.
Hunter is a 46yo LA police officer, former army ranger and a gay Dom who is currently numb with life. He can’t even get excited about going to the kink Club anymore. He needs to make some changes. But what? Six months later his former army buddy is getting married and having his Bachelor party in Vegas. Hunter is paired up with Colsen.
Colsen is a 35yo NY cop whose mother who died and he blames himself. Six months later he has turned to alcohol to numb his regrets. He feels too much! He and Hunter are paired up in a suite for Dan’s Bachelor party and it is hate at first sight.
When these two buff males begrudgingly decide to give into their desires…Oh. My. Word! The shower scene or their first time!!! What these two guys realize is that Hunter is a born “Daddy” who needs his “boy” to be happy. They find that in each other. But one lives in LA and the other in NY. How will that work?
I liked this book so much I am torn whether to try one of CS Joyce’s other books b/c of the lack of editing. This is where reviews play a big part. I was offered an ARC through Gay Romance Reviews but chose to buy the book. I voluntarily offer my review.
I really wanted to give this more stars but with so many edit errors it kept pulling me out of the story! I liked Hunter and Colsen with the hate love and drama but it wasn’t as great a read as it could have been!
Wow!! Hunter is an amazing daddy!! Colson really needed a daddy in his life even though he didn’t know it. These two have an immediate hate relationship that turns into so much more. I can’t wait for the next book!!
Colsen is a cop with his life spiraling out of control and realizes that he needs something to get in control.
Hunter is someone who likes to be in control and is a Dom. When these two meet they don’t get along and they have a hate/love relationship.
There were some typos within the book, even though I noticed it didn’t distract me from the story. I feel like the characters didn’t feel connected to me more like they were thrown in together but still was a good book. Overall a good read with some angst, hate-to-lovers and a HEA.
Hunter and Colsen
It’s an enemies to lovers, Daddy kink romance! What more can you ask!
Anger so much anger raging through Colsen. Hurt so much hurt. It seems the only way to deal is undermining his own life.
With mutual friends on a few days trip, Colsen and Hunter find themselves as roommates. Colsen hates Hunter and Hunter despises Colsen, until Hunter sees through all Colsen’s bullshit. He turns into a protective Daddy but Colsen doesn’t want to have anything to do with Hunter and his dominance and is certainly not in need of a Daddy. Hunter has to find his breaking point. Or was it his own?
When Hunter found the right buttons it was everything, read: everything!
Strongly written story with even stronger main characters. A lot of cursing and anger passing by. I loved the dynamic and I loved the struggle, together they were hot af.
There are a lot of emotions to find, hurt, comfort, happiness, fun, strong feelings of independence, and submission. Two broken men meant to be together!
Quite a captivating story. Awesomely way of storytelling!
Two men who feel lost. Two men who can’t seem to find it in their hearts to live again. They have lost something and they don’t know what to do to get it back!
Colsen lost his mom six months before and he feels guilty about it. Hunter has lost his zest for the things that he used to love.
They are both attending their best friend’s bachelor party and they have been roomed together. Two strong Alpha males, one determined to self-destruct while the other wants to find a new purpose in life.
A love story that started with disliking each other, first impression and all. But somehow along the way they found out they are just what each other need.
Hunter’s Desire is the second book in the Dark Reserves series by CS Joyce. Itt is a contemporary m/m romance with an enemies to lovers theme and hot Daddy kink. . The story has drama, angst, love/hate, passion, and steam. Hunter and Colsen are fascinating characters that called to me and kept me emotionally involved with their story. This series delivers great stories and characters and I am excited for book three when it releases.
