Scarlett Valentina Hartman. With a name like that, she ought to love all things hearts and flowers, including that silly February holiday. But Valentine’s Day is her least favorite day of the year. It might be that she’s insanely busy with the Hartman Inn— the bed and breakfast she owns—or maybe it’s that she’s surrounded by hopeless romantics. Mostly Scarlett classifies herself as a realist … about life. And about love—a topic she has zero time for with her beloved inn barely out of the red. Not even when a sexy plumber shows up in her kitchen to fix the leaky pipes. In town for his best friend’s wedding, Teague Jamison is a business consultant with laser sharp focus and a brain that never shuts down. His specialty is breathing life back into wilting companies, but discussing the specifics of his business—especially with women—has always backfired on him. When the lovely inn owner mistakes him for a plumber, his interest is piqued. When he truly gets to know the sweet-natured woman, he lowers his guard altogether and risks everything. Does Teague have what it takes to help Scarlett discover what true love really is?

Scarlett didn’t believe in love. She knew her best friend had plans in the making for her to be matched with the best man since she was the maid of honor but she wasn’t falling for it. Teague wasn’t looking for a relationship until he came in town early to fulfill his best man duties and got to know Scarlett. This was a fun story as Scarlett and Teague reach their HEA. Good read

This is my first time reading something by Ms. Carley and I thought it was a really nice read. The story was well-written with an interesting and engaging storyline. Scarlett and Teague’s relationship started out as casual and easy-going, but developed into something stronger, which neither of the had expected. Scarlett has some insecurities to overcome and Teague has his own issues to deal with before they can move forward with their relationship. This is a charming book that I very much enjoyed. Ms. Carley’s attention to detail really made the story come alive. I will definitely be looking for more of her books to read.

A well-written engaging romance. This novel is an easy-going romantic tale about Scarlett, the owner of a lovely Bed and Breakfast inn, and Teague a guest, the friend of Scarlett’s friends. It is Hadley and Ronan’s wedding where Teague is the best man, while Scarlett is the maid of honour. Being in the right age group and both lovely/handsome physical specimens, the reader automatically roots for them, as they both shied away from emotional commitments in the past. Their character, as well as the other’s in the book, has been very well developed and described. The storyline was always interesting, witty, scene-appropriate dialogue,. How can it not, when a hunky business consultant is mistaken for a plumber? The author made good use of the language and the novel was very well edited. The dramatic tension-points were well spaced out throughout the book, and the story was down-to-earth with a natural easy-flowing writing style. The relationship that develops between Scarlett and Teague started out as an easy-going strong physical attraction but neither of them expected that deep-rooted need which such a connection had evoked. The steamy sex is accompanied by a rather free-flowing language from Teague, giving this novel a hotness factor of about 7/10. Conflicts between Scarlett and her mother Amalia bring many of Scarlett’s insecurities to the surface, but all characters get an opportunity to resolve their issues, improving relationships all around. What the heart wants, the heart gets, and the reader is rewarded with a lovely HEA. I would strongly recommend this very well-written, enjoyable, romantic novel.

Scarlett runs the Bed & Breakfast in her town. All her energy goes into running the B&B and she doesn’t have time to waste on love, hearts, relationships. Teague is at the B&B on business, but by mistake, she takes him to be the plumber, not a guest. He let’s her think he is the plumber because he wants to get to know her better. He feels something. There is some chemistry. Their attraction continues to grow. They become important to each other. The story is well written and the main characters are likable and down to-earth and as I said, they have sizzle. It is not all smooth sailing with a few twists and turns. I liked the writer’s style and I found it to be a very enjoyable read.

What a great story! The main character is Scarlett Valentina Hartman. She is a realist and all her time is spent trying to keep the Hartman Inn, her Bed And Breakfast running. She is also around many hopeless romantics, but doesn’t feel that is right for her. One day, Teague Jamison shows up to attend a wedding and stays at the inn. They are both attracted to each other, but what can happen? They have different personalities and have different things that they are focusing on. Can Teague be the guy the man for Scarlett? Can she be in one of those romantic loving relationships? It’s a great read!
This started off as a really sweet romance, but there was eventually some more mature aspects to it. I did really like it, and it wasn’t overwhelmingly sexual like other books I’ve read have been. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite romance novel, but it was definitely one of the best written ones I’ve read.
The characters were relatable and it was hard to dislike them – for the most part. Scarlett’s mother annoyed me at times, and I found Arlo sketchy when he was first introduced, but they did redeem themselves. Scarlett was funny, and I loved her attitude. Teague wasn’t my favorite male lead in a book, but he wasn’t bad; he was funny and could be a really sweet guy.
I loved Hadley and Ronan the most. Their relationship was so cute, and it reminded me a lot of my own relationship with my boyfriend. Hadley was very relatable when it came to loving romance, and I thought it was sweet that Ronan was willing to do everything he could to make sure she felt loved.
As for Scarlett’s relationship with Teague, I did find it sweet, but it also felt a bit rushed at times. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I feel as if I’d have liked their relationship more if it had happened the slightest bit slower. Otherwise, the chemistry was present, so I can’t truly complain much about it. With most rushed relationships, there’s very little chemistry, if there even is some.
The overall storyline was very interesting. Carley kept things moving fairly well, so there wasn’t much time to get bored with the story. When things started slowing down a bit, she added a new twist to keep me engaged. The twists were usually small, so it wasn’t annoying nor frustrating to me personally.
The ending was really sweet, and I loved it. I love that everyone in the story got the happiness they deserved.

I enjoyed seeing Scarlett Valentina Hartman go from, as she says being a realist about love to finding Teague Jamison the man she can not do without. A well written story with a very good storyline. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
You might think Scarlett Valentina Hartman would be all about conversation hearts, red roses, and celebrating Valentine’s Day with a true love. But you’d be wrong. Scarlett’s actually a bit of a cynic when it comes to love, but then she’s got good reason to be. Her mother’s been in and out of love more often than some women get their hair styled, and Scarlett’s been around to watch every one of her mother’s “true loves” come and go.
Teague Jamison is in town for his friend Ronan’s wedding, the wedding where Scarlett’s friend Hadley is marrying Ronan. Scarlett owns the bed & breakfast where Teague will stay during the wedding festivities.
Sparks fly, but Scarlett doesn’t believe in love or fairytales, so why should she bother getting to know Teague better? Then again, why not get to know him while he’s at the bed & breakfast? Attraction doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with love, right? Besides, Teague remains a bit guarded himself. Maybe a simple wedding fling is just what the two of them need!
Or maybe there is something more to the whole true love thing…
Kate Carley delivers a delightful, lighthearted standalone romance in Loving Scarlett. Readers can expect Ms. Carley’s exceptional writing, her incredible attention to details that create a perfect setting, and characters to love and cheer on to their own happily-ever-after.
