A great children’s book I got to read for free after seeing Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween.
This book is amazing
I recently got a bit of the nostalgia bug when thinking back to the Goosebumps books I read as a kid. Goosebumps, and by extension the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark series, definitely introduced me to the genre of horror. After Goosebumps I moved onto classics like Dracula and Jekyll/Hyde, then on to the gown up stuff throughout my life and to this day. Well, this nostalgia bug got me wanting to re-collect the original 62 run of Goosebumps books, and in their first run printings because of the amazing covers. Perhaps the best part of the series was the covers. Next up;
#7 Night Of The Living Dummy
Here, we are introduced to argubly the most famous of the Goosebumps monsters, Slappy the Dummy. Or are we?
There is a bit of a bait and switch going on in this story. I won’t spoil what I mean, but those familiar to the story know the different take that goes on compared to what you expect the book to be about. But it does serve as an origin story to Slappy the evil ventriloquist dummy, and in his introduction I noticed the storytelling getting a slightly darker tone to it. There’s even a scene where a dog gets strangled!
Night Of The Living Dummy is one that certainly tickles the nostalgia strings, and for anyone interested in revisiting the Goosebumps series, this one is a must.

It was a classic book I loved reading, and I personally loved it because it was a horror type book but with a suspense twist to it
Slappy is a favorite of mine.
