For Kiara Roberts, cancer was a b*tch. It took her teenage years, her shot at the Olympic team, and her leg. She was not letting it take her new job as the high school track coach and health educator. Sketchy test results put her patience on edge and made it a struggle to keep pushing forward. She needed a night of dancing, drinking, and fun with her friends to mark a new beginning, no matter … what the future held.
Coming home was supposed to be a relief for Army Specialist David Easton. He served his country and after months of rehab, the PTSD remained unbearable. Drinking wasn’t the answer, nor was co-owning the family bar with his brother. Getting the job at his old high school was manageable and put his family at ease giving the illusion that life was back to normal. It was anything but, and the moment he spotted Kiara across a crowded dance floor during the lowest point in his life everything changed.
Kiara wasn’t attracted to jarheads. She didn’t have room in her life for players no matter how sexy and sweet they seemed. So why was David Easton showing up everywhere? There was no escaping him, and her only option left might be surrender.

This is book seven in the Love by Design series. It’s David and Kiara’s story. The book is hot and steamy with a fun, enjoyable story that made me laugh and hit me in the feels. It reads as a standalone. I haven’t read the first five books and I never felt like I was missing something. I already have the series on my Kindle ready to start reading. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to be released.
David is home from the Army for good. He was wounded by an IED and was given a medical discharge. He’s suffering from PTSD. He meets Kiara in a bar one night and Kiara ends up going home with him which is something she never does. She sneaks out the next morning figuring she’ll never see him again. David’s upset because he really wanted to get to know her and date her. Little do they know they both work at the high school. That’s where David’s new job as an IT specialist. Kiara hasn’t been living her life to the fullest since she beat cancer and lost part of her leg in the battle. Her first response is to push people away. Can David convince her they’re worth it? Can they both heal together?

This is not the first book in this series I have read, but it is my favorite. The chemistry between Kiara and David is a controlled impetuous frenzy. These two bring the burn and if you are not prepared for it you will definitely combust! I fell in lust with the David, not only was he broody but he was the epitome of a man whom I could fall for HARD! Kiara was given a life which she wanted until things did not go as she wanted. So with all the sizzling sparks moving between these two is it any question that they are the most perfect for each other? They both have been through hell but you might be surprised that each brings their own to there relationship. It was a quick read for me and I have some of the other books within this series. I am so waiting for more from M.C.

David is retired military and meets Kiara on a night out. Instant connection turns to a one night stand when Kiara ghosts David in the early morning hours. Turns out, David’s new job puts Kiara in his path again. Their push and pull relationship is sweet, sexy, and sometimes funny, as each of them works to put their past behind them. I enjoyed their banter and David’s unwavering dedication to make Kiara his woman.

This one is definitely a keeper on my book shelf, to people who have been thru the emotional ringer. David and Kiara fit so well together and show that you can fight your battles alone, but with someone who loves you is so much better. Love the protective nature of David and Kiara’s zest for life. A very fitting ending for this couple who have fought their own demons to find that reward when openIn your heart to trust.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This was an emotional romance story. Kiara is a cancer survivor that thinks of and treats most men badly. She had a bad ex who dumped her during her fight. David is out of the military and suffers his own trials from time served. These two have a definite attraction that cannot be denied. Both will have to get past emotional baggage if they want a happy ending. I enjoyed this story and will look for more from this author

Short, passionate insta-lust to love story …
Former Army Specialist David Easton had been a one-night-stand, love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy until he spied Kiara at the bar in Poughkeepsie one night. She and her sisters had planned a night out, dragging Kiara along to make her get out. After losing her leg from the knee down to cancer and thereby losing her Olympic dream, she had made her teaching and coaching jobs everything in her life. That night however, she wanted to be normal again so when this handsome hunk with scars on his face and neck asked her, she left with him. But Kiara has hidden her prosthetic under sexy boots. What would David say if he saw it? Would he still make moves on her if he knew the truth? Couple this with her one night turning awkward on her first day of school when she is introduced to the new IT guy…David! But he has secrets too.
Oh. My. This was such a good short book. I love it when the H pursues the h with a vengeance. Kiara doesn’t want the intrusion into her well-ordered world but David wants her. He wins of course but much chasing and angst occurs before that 😉
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout and it comes recommended for multi-cultural romance readers. Much was said about the next two characters to get their own books. Can’t wait. There was only one problem: throughout the book there were grammatical and spelling errors. I read from my purchased version of the book so any errors found in the ARC were not corrected, hence the 4 stars rather than 5.
Tender and simple
3.5
It’s a beautiful romance between two people wounded by life, whether in the military field or by illness. The story is tender, simple. It revolves around their feelings, their priorities in life after everything they’ve been through before.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
David and Kiara meet at a local bar and end up working at the same school. Both have heavy baggage to deal with from some very troubling times in their lives. The characters are strong from their trials and determined to make it through. The locale is vivid with details and the banter between characters brings a lighthearted feeling at times. The romance builds steadily and they show they are in it for the long haul and help each other trust again. The ending is worth the wait. Now on to read more from this author.

I loved the storyline and characters, but hard time following at a lot of points. Things seem either rushed or skipped over. Would have liked way more filler/content/context. Loved the ending but again.. it was just booom. Done.

Mission For Love by M.C. Cerny. This is part of the Love by Design series but can be read as a standalone. This story has a little something of everything good (drama, quirky plot with some heavy past history for both main characters, strong and charming characters, and plenty of heat). The chemistry between the main characters is unmistakable and the banter between the two was great. I love how easy it was to read this book and enjoy it. I enjoyed this story but there were a few things that made it difficult for me to give it five stars.
David is a man who is surprised when he decides he wants to go after Kiara. His dogged pursuit of her is admirable. However he is Army not a “jarhead”. I know a little thing.
Kiara was a little different. I admire her determination but the fact she thinks all men are horrible because her high school boyfriend booked when she was sick, was a bit much. But I think what surprised me was how quickly she went from noncha6to “in love”.
Character development was good. Having nor read Andy’s book I really wanted to know what his ex did.
This is an honest voluntary review
I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC
M.C. Cerny brings us another book boyfriend that will stay in my heart forever. David is more than willing to go the extra mile in winning the heart of Kiara. His perseverance in overcoming her past betrayals in the face of a truly terrifying and traumatic time in her life left me in a puddle of melted goo. OUTSTANDING!
Army does not equal “jarhead.” David’s persistent pursuit of Kiara is refreshing. Her cavalier attitude is not. Her high school boyfriend ran during a very difficult situation and she holds it against every man. Her change was sudden and abrupt.
Needing a night out to cool off, David catches the eyes of Kiara at a local dive bar. She was out celebrating the final weekend before school began. They hooked up and she walked out before he awoke. But catching her last name or number, he was bummed but it happens to turn out he just began a new job where she teaches. Not wanting to get involved, Kiera tries her best to dodge his advances. David does not give up. Having best cancer and losing her leg, Kiera does not trust a relationship as her last walked out when he discovered her cancer diagnosis. David has his own demons with ptsd and getting settled back into civilization but dies not mind the chase he has to take because in the end, her walls break down and she falls in love.
