I see dead people…and now one’s haunting me.First in a new series by Nyx Halliwell! Don’t miss out on Ava’s adventures as she returns to her small hometown of Thornhollow, Georgia, where mystery, murder, romance, and a little bit of down home Southern cooking are always on tap.Aunt Willa summons me home to Thornhollow with a cryptic message about using my ‘gift’ to stop a family curse and save … using my ‘gift’ to stop a family curse and save the town. Hours later, she’s dead and Mama swears she heard her arguing with someone before it happened.
When I arrive, my clumsiness brings about a near-death experience, and suddenly, I’m seeing and hearing ghosts everywhere. Even Aunt Willa’s cat is talking to me.
Uncovering the truth behind the family curse is hard enough, but my gift makes me a target for an angry ghost who’s trying to ruin the biggest event Thornhollow has ever seen…and she’ll stop at nothing to do it.
I’m convinced my aunt’s death was no accident, and if I don’t acknowledge the fact ghosts are real and I can commune with them, I may never discover who murdered her…or stop the deadly poltergeist now haunting me.

Good fun Halloween reading.
Such an entertaining and easy read. I loved it.
I loved this one. The town’s people attitude was fabulous. The attitude of the ghosts was funny and made the book. Putting it in a wedding planning setting was a very original ideas. Loved it! Will keep buying sequels.
This was a great read! This is the first in a new series that I can’t wait to continue. I enjoyed the characters a lot and loved that there was a “guest appearance” of a character from her Sister Witches series, which I haven’t read YET but have just purchased to read soon. The mystery was well done, there wasn’t insta-love (hate that!) and it evoked that wonderful Autumn feeling that I wish would last all year. I am now a Nyx Halliwell fan and I’m mad at myself for not finding her sooner.
A great book that you just won’t want to put down.
What a fabulous start to this new series! Nyx Halliwell has crafted a story that has a bit of everything – romance, a mystery wrapped up in magic, and great characters that will have you wishing you could take a trip to Thornhollow.
From the moment I met Ava I just knew she was going to become one of my favorite heroines. She’s moved away to find her own path, but when Aunt Willa’s death has Ava heading back home all sorts of mystery and a bit of mayhem stand in the way of her returning to her life in Atlanta. With talking doorknobs, a cat that might just be more than she seems, a poltergeist who is determined to ruin a wedding, and the possibility of a family curse, Ava has more than her hands full as she tries to figure out what happened to Aunt Willa. Throw in Logan Chance, the now grown-up man she used to crush on as a teenager, who seems determined to help her, and Ava doesn’t stand a chance of making a quick getaway from Thornhollow.
This was such a great read. I just loved the slow burn romance between Ava and Logan. The mystery had so many interesting twists and reveals that it was hard to put this one down. The entire cast of characters were so unique and quirky and really helped bring the story to life. And I’m a huge sucker for a cross-over, so I loved the tie in to Nyx Halliwell’s other series, The Sister Witches of Raven Falls – it was fun having Winter Whitethorn come and help Ava out.
I would definitely recommend this one to just about anyone – it has a bit of everything and should appeal to most any reader!
Pumpkins & Poltergeists by Nyx Halliwell/Misty Evans drew me in from the first page and never let go.
I love Ava! She is smart, funny and a gifted medium (if she would just accept her gift). She comes home for her aunt’s funeral and faces more than just grief as she begins to doubt that her aunt’s death was natural. There is mystery, ghosts, a curse, talking cat gargoyles and more as Ava searches for answers. Pure fun and entertainment. If you are like me and enjoy a light paranormal mystery, then you should try this book.
