Interesting how such a feminine application can influence such masculine attention. As always Ms Albright used her manners and her intellect to push for much more than mere words could have gotten her. Beautiful photography and as much designer information as could be found.
I found this book to be disappointing. I would have anticipated for of a background story from this extremely accomplished woman and diplomat. More a picture book than a “look behind the scenes” while she was wearing the pins.
Just okay. Somewhat Interesting but not that well done.
Interesting review by Madeline Albright of all her signature pins, why she wears them and how she chooses them. A behind the scenes look at a footnote to history. Beautifully illustrated.
If I were Secretary of State and had written this slight, very insipid read, I would be embarrassed. For an intelligent, accomplished woman to write this bit of inconsequential fluff is appalling.
Gives a glimpse of what lies beneath the politics
The photos of the jewelry when zoomed in were of extremely poor quality and since that is a good part of the book, I found it disappointing.
I was unfamiliar with Madeline Albright’s use of her brooches for diplomatic purposes.
Great stories from a great woman. Never thought I would enjoy a book about pins.
I enjoyed looking at the collection of Ms. Albright’s pins and reading of how she used them to convey her own sort of subliminal messaging. More of a coffee table type book than a ‘good read’, but still quite interesting.
I bought this book because I am a costume jewelry collector. It is beautifully illustrated, Many large color photographs. With history, description, and source on each piece. Also learned a lot about Mrs Albright , The book will join my collection of reference books on costume jewelry.
This book reads like Madeline is speaking to you about why she wore the pins that she did/does. She is so inspirational as one of our leading ladies, with smarts and ambition. She is a wonderful role model
Secretary Madeleine Albright’s book, “Read My Pins”, details how she came about to wearing pins that cleverly and subtly sent a message to the world. It is informative, original and easy to read and follow.
Wonderfully entertaining book by a multi-faceted woman with an engaging sense of humor. You will also read about country leaders, and little antidotes that show us they are human, too.
scary to think about how desperately we need her skills right now
an interesting read, good look at what was really going on in the minds of some of the worlds “leaders, that’s also a bit scary
on my tablet the illustrations were disappointing however 2 friends told me their printed (used) copies were beautiful gifts i’m going to order a print copy for myself
I’m not sure what I was expecting – more stories rather than pages and pages of pictures of brooches and pins. Overall, I was bored.
Disappointing.
Nice, odd memoir
Hard to read in ebook format..the photos of the pins were too small; disjointed
Nice adjunct to her autobiography
