I have been reading Irene Hannon’s suspense novels for several years, and she remains one of my favorite authors. She is one author who just seems to get better with each series and book. This first book in her new Triple Threat Series is proof of that.
Hannon takes a page from current events, and brings the radical group Antifa into her story. I always get easily engrossed in her books anyway, but that made the story all the more interesting and gripping as I read in a novel about what is happening in real life.
The main characters were well developed and very likable: Eve, the conservative talk show host determined to stick to her beliefs and let her views be known, even when threatened….and Brent, the determined police detective who thinks his past experiences mean he must go through life alone.
Point of Danger truly is a read in one sitting, at least for me. It has non stop action, drama, and suspense that made the book hard to put down, even for drink and bathroom breaks. There was a lot going on in this book, and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. One bad guy was a bit predictable as to his identity, but the other was a total surprise, and I did not see it coming.
And though fictional, Point of Danger does emphasize the fact that there are radical hate groups in our country who are bent on destruction and division.
Hannon shows in this book that she still has it, and this may be her best….or at least one of her best…yet. It definitely made me want more in what promises to be another great series from this accomplished author.
I was provided a copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions in this review are my own.
Point of Danger puts emphasis on the danger parts. The story revolves around Eve Reilly, an edgy ultra-conservative talk show host with viewpoints that put her in hot water with her critics. Several people want to see her silenced, and she receives multiple threats. As the threats escalate, police detective Brent Lange gets involved, professionally and personally with Eve.
I love the plot twists in this book! Lots of red herrings made me think just about anyone could be the culprit. There’s lots of danger and action in this story, but there is quite a focus on the budding romance between Eve and Brent. Brent’s shell-shocked from prior relationships and has no idea how to be in one. Eve’s just an overall great character as a female lead that knows what she wants and doesn’t apologize to anyone for her beliefs. The ending had some shocking twists, but I gave this 4 stars because I felt like a few of the “red herrings” kind of faded into the night – I didn’t understand how they were connected to the story in the end. But all of the false leads and motives these characters had for wanting to stop Eve’s show really added to the story line.
Definitely check out Point of Danger. It’s an action-packed drama that will have you hooked, trying to piece together clues until the very end. I’m looking forward to the others in the series.
Overall Rating:
4 stars (I liked it a lot and would definitely recommend)
Suspense Rating:
4 stars (lots of action and suspense to keep me intrigued)

POINT OF DANGER…Irene Hannon
Radio talk personality is use to the threats, and her motto the show must go on. Until a package. comes to her doorstep. Detective Brent comes to investigate, it was a bomb. Eva is gutsy, determinded, that the harassment she is now getting won’t stop her. A lot of incidents are happening, the detective is sure they are connected. A new series with a good beginning, a love interest is with Eve and Brent. For those who like a good suspense. Given ARC by Net Galley and Revell.
Point of Danger by Irene Hannon is a romantic suspense lover’s dream. The heroine is put into danger right away and enters the adoring police officer who wants to help her out and figure out how to solve the mystery that is threatening the heroine without losing his heart first. In Hannon’s latest novel, Point of Danger, she does definitely what she promises to her readers. It is thought out and full of romance. The mystery is okay. Not non-stop action where the reader holds her breathe as the characters rush against the clock. With Point of Danger, I really didn’t figure out who the bad guy. But to be honest, there really is no clue leading toward this character anyway. When it was revealed, I shook my head in display because there was nothing pointing toward this character, so personally, I felt cheated. The romance seemed to be the main threat with a overarching threat, but it didn’t seem to be the most important aspect of the novel. As for the timing of the novel, Hannon has included some political hotspots that are actually occurring in today’s headlines. Overall, Point of Danger really didn’t seem that suspenseful. But then again, this was just my opinion. Others may feel like this is the greatest romantic suspense novel ever. That is fine. That is what makes the world go round.
I received a complimentary copy of Point of Danger by Irene Hannon by Irene Hannon from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

“Be silent . . . or be silenced.”
An ominous warning, tucked inside what was fortunately a fake ticking time bomb, but no less nerve racking for its recipient. Radio talk show host Eve Reilly knew there were those who didn’t like her straight forward, conservative approach to current events, but up until now, the occasional personal threats had appeared fairly harmless. This one didn’t, especially according to the handsome detective assigned to the case.
Brent Lange’s first official case as a detective has turned out to be far more complicated than he would have preferred. Ten years of experience as an officer have honed his instincts and Brent’s gut is telling him that the lovely Eve Reilly is in more danger than she dares to admit. As the threats not only continue, but escalate in intensity, the time Brent and Eve spend together discussing the case begins to include personal snippets of conversation. But Brent makes it very clear at the onset, he is not “relationship” material.
Eve disagrees; “the sparks we’re generating deserve to be explored”, but isn’t it a mute point if Brent fails to protect Eve?
In the beginning, this story felt reminiscent of many other novels by this author with a bit less character depth. The story also champions some distinctly current event vibes that will inspire some, and off put others. However, in the end, it’s obvious that this is a story that only Irene Hannon could write. . . .a very nice start to a new series.
Holy Cow! Why have I not been reading more of Irene Hannon?! This is the first of a new romantic suspense series and it features Eve Reilly. She is a conservative radio talk show host and someone isn’t liking her views. The hero, Brent is a detective working his first offical case and is drawn to Eve from the start. This book has action with page turning suspense and sweet swoony romance with suspects galore. I enjoyed every single thrilling page.
*I received this book from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.
‘Final warning. Shut up or die.’
Irene Hannon starts a new series with a great story that will have you trying your best to discover the culprit. Only you probably never will. I don’t. This one was a huge shocker. I love how she layers her suspense from chapter to chapter. Much like the late Mary Higgins Clark, Hannon continues to add to her stories until the reader has no idea who is the bad guy. I love it. This one is a satisfying read and I look forward to the next in the series. Recommended.
*My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion in this review is my own.
