What if the one person you can’t trust…is yourself?
US Army Detective Regan Chase spent years lying for her country.
Until she was caught.
Her reputation as the military’s premier undercover chameleon in tatters, Regan’s been shunted to a Stateside post and reassigned to the grunt work of Army CID—investigations. First up, the brutal stabbing of a soldier’s wife.
Instead of the domestic … soldier’s wife.
Instead of the domestic homicide she expects, Regan confronts the first in a series of murders and suicides brought on by the violent hallucinations plaguing a twelve-man Special Forces A-Team just back from Afghanistan. A team led by Regan’s ex-lover. The very soldier responsible for the decimation of her undercover career.
As the murders and suicides mount, Regan clashes with an unforgiving, uncooperative and dangerously secretive John Garrison—and an even more secretive US Army.
The Army knows she and John have history. So why hasn’t she been reassigned?
Someone wants Regan on the case. But they also want her off her game. They’re depending on it. Why else is she being followed?
What happened in that Afghan cave? Why is the Army willing to risk an entire Special Forces team to keep it secret?
Regan won’t stop until she finds out. But by then, it may be too late. Another name may have already been added to that growing list of victims.
Her own.

Another great novel by Candace Irvin/Irving! Fast moving, great character development, real people in real situations around the world. Humans with flaws and great traits…Regan returns to continue her journey, this time in the US and Middle East. Read this book–you won’t regret it…better yet, start with Aimpoint and then read this…characters and settings will make more sense.
The book flows smoothly from the beginning to the end, with several surprises waiting for you…as well as for the main characters.
Thanks, Candace, for another bright spot during the COVID-19 Pandemic!
Stay SAFE!!!

Blind Edge is the second book in the Regan Chase series. Regan Chase is a US Army Detective. Agent Chase is called to the scene of a horrific crime. After returning from a particularly intense and difficult deployment, a soldier stabbed his pregnant wife to death and claims he had no idea what he was doing. Before Agent Chase could even get much information on the soldier and what happened, she had another crime scene to get to with similar details. It seems the twelve man team that just returned from a highly classified mission are becoming violent and unreliable one by one. Agent Chase must join forces with Major John Garrison, a man from her recent past. While fighting the powers that be in the military and the government, the two must find out what exactly happened during this deployment that is causing these soldiers to hallucinate and act out violently.
This book is a could not put down on the edge of your seat book. Not only does this book have non-stop action but Irving also deals with the struggles soldiers face trying re-acclimate into civilian life after a deployment and the PTSD that a lot of soldiers face. This book had me in tears as my heart broke for the soldiers that come home and are expected to just put aside the horrors they witnessed and function in normal society. This book is extremely well written and Irving’s knowledge of military places and workings is evident. This book had me guessing at every turn with several plot twists. Another thing that Irving does well is depicting the sense of loyalty, friendship and respect amongst soldiers that serve and have served together.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book and anything Irving writes. I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.
I like a writer who can deliver a complex plot, while keeping the story moving fast enough. I kept having to remind myself to slow down and enjoy it, instead of wanting to race through to the denouement. Seeing the continuing story of the two central characters and how their paths cross again was definitely engaging. I want to see what befalls them, or some of the secondary characters, in the continuity of the series. The writing is clean and vivid. If you are fan of military stories, you’ll enjoy this too, as everyday heroes and heroines come to life in the pages.
A book that grabs your attention and keeps it. I recommend reading the previous book first so you will have all the background. I think this book might have been better than the first one and I really liked the first one. I am thankful I had an ARC from the author.
Blind Edge is a sure-fire winner. It is a thriller, mystery, medical, and military tour de force featuring Army CID investigator Regan Chase. Starting with the murder of an Army spouse by her husband, just returned from Afghanistan, it soon spreads when the members of an elite Special Forces unit all begin experiencing hallucinations, seizures, and comas resulting in murder, violence, and suicide. In investigating the events, the mystery touches the highest echelons of the Army, stretches the limits of the medical community, and reaches from Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush, where Regan risks her life to uncover the source of the strange events. This is a book that cannot be put down. It is an exciting, adrenaline-fueled adventure, with strong characters, an original storyline, and fine writing. I highly recommend it.
There are good books and then there are great books, Blind Edge is GREAT.
I could not stop reading this thriller. If this does not turn into a series I will be very disappointed. There is mystery, suspense, love and twist galore.
This is truly one of the best books I have read. If you like mystery books, especially Military themed, then you can not afford to miss reading this one
