I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Such strong characters and storyline. Even though Alastair seems a bit weak, he’s really not – just withdrawn by his experiences and tormented without him knowing it by his brother. There are twists and turns in this story that prompt you to read it in one sitting. The plots, the mystery, the unknown love and hate, make this a story to remember. Chloe’s character is so strong and inspirational in overcoming any hurdle, it makes you realize that “love can conquer all”.
Wow! What a Awesome story! Betrothed to her Highland Enemy will hold you spellbound as it comes to life with all the intrigue, betrayal and treason that will keep you reading to the very end. Chloe is being forced to wed a man she has no desires to wed to her clans greatest enemy to ensure peace between the two clans. Alasdair the heir to the Lairdship that he does not desire has no love for his soon to be wife. Both have emotional scars from a past neither one has been able to forget. As they come together sparks fly but an enemy slinks in the background to spin a web of deceit to try to destroy them. Alasdair and Chloe’s love for one another soon find their passions building in this heart pounding action-packed story filled with drama, danger, heartbreak, trials and tribulations, turmoil, and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with so many twist and turns abound that makes this one outstanding story!
Lady Chloe MacLagain is the remaining child of Goraidh, the Laird of Vargas. Betrothed as a child to Alastair Bochanan, the future Laird of Finley, her time has come to fulfill that duty. Neither Chloe and Alastair went to marry but both know they must to end the feud between their clans. When Chloe arrives Lucas, Alastairs younger brother befriends her, and tries to sway her to his side. Lucas believes he should be the next Laird of Finley and wants Chloe for himself. Will love bring Chloe and Alastair together or will Lucas win both Chloe and the right to be the Laird of Finley? A page turner to the end!
Chloe’s personality is inspirational! What a beautiful story of “the ties that bind”. Embark on Fiona’s newly written journey that has many different discoveries of love, in all manner of places. You won’t regret it.
Another great book about redemption through love. Great characters and storyline. Heartbreaking and heartwarming, with unexpected twists and turns to keep us on the edge of our seats. Enjoyed it very much.
This is another good read by Fiona Faris and I’ve read so many by this author. The author gives us interesting, sympathetic characters who face monumental tragedy and sadness in their lives. Alastair and Chloe find the strength to keep moving forward in search of their well-deserved happiness. Chloe’s parental neglect and Alastair’s grief have clouded their sense of self-worth for years. In the process of letting go of the burdens they carry and their journey towards friendship and eventual love, they become a part of a large and loving family and clan. Alastair is subjected to jealousy and manipulation by a surprising party and in the end, finally finds the strength and confidence to move beyond the betrayal and begin to assume the role his father and clan expect of him. If I have one minor critique, I feel that this process of Alastair finding his way to his eventual role felt repetitive and too drawn out and should’ve taken much less time, This book has violence, loss and sadness but it is overshadowed by redemption, love and belonging. It leaves its readers in a very good place: with a heart full of wonderful feels. Highly recommend. 🙂
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
