Very well written and so recommended. He has blinders on as far as his wife is concerned. He thinks he is still in love with his first love who chose someone else. So he treats his wife very badly. His friend harasses her since her husband acts like he doesn’t care. He has blinders on to everything and it takes getting hurt to open his eyes to what is really the truth and where his heart really is. Exciting, emotional, twists and turns, danger, suspense and much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
James Townshend is one of the most selfish and blind man I have read about. I have no comprehension of why James even married her, when he was so into his broken heart to see how he was hurting everyone around him. He let his so called friend Rueben hound his wife. He refused his wife, even though he was desirous of her. All because he kept seeing two blue eyes that betrayed him. She didn’t die, or was forced to marry a Duke. She decided a Duke as a husband would be better than a wealthy tradesman. He couldn’t see the forest for the trees all carried his lost love. Waaaaaaaa! The worst part was the man decided it didn’t matter who he was married to, but chose Adaline because of some betrothal contract made up by two mothers that were friends and thought how grand it would be if their children got married. The worst part was he denied his wife children which at least she would have someone to love & love her back. SELFISH. The good part of this story is that it takes bashing his head in for him to finally see Adaline. Other than my retort on the so called hero of this story, the plot, storyline and Adaline were excellent.
Watch your back!
Adaline and James live at Birkenhead Lodge. Things are strained between the couple since James is still in love with his first love and not with his wife. He stubbornly refused to let Adaline into his heart.
Ruben Montgomery and his sister, Isabel, come for an extended stay, hoping the sea air will help her delicate constitution.
While his sister’s condition is slowly improving, Adaline’s is not. The constant sly comments of sexual reverences to her by Ruben, have her at an extreme disadvantage. Ruben is a childhood friend of her husband. She is in an uncomfortable position, and the allusions are getting worse.
Read to find out what happens when James falls off a cliff, is gravely injured and loses his memory. See if a budding romance between Isabel and James’ attending physician, Doctor Brown will grow. What will happen to James? Will he recover from his coma and other injuries?
This tale is excellent, with adult themes. It has some interesting twists and an unexpected ending.
I received a free copy of this engaging book.
The storyline was beautifully written with characters that were created with such great detail and depth that I remained totally captivated until the turn of the very last page!
