Promised to the Swedish Prince is the second book in the London Lords series, but it was fine as a stand-alone. The book was fast-paced, and the plot was developed. The characters were charming and easy to fall in love with. The story was sweet, and the next book looks great.
Prince Christian Lind fell in love with Erika but only realized it when she is about to leave for London. His father and Erika’s plan on Erika and Prince Gustav, Christians’ brother, to marry when they return to Sweden in four years. Christian plans on writing to Erika and charming her in the hope that she will fall in love with him. His father stops his letters so instead, he puts anonymous packages with treats from Sweden. He decides to become a diplomat with intentions of going to London so he can charm Erika.
Countess Erika Jansson grew up with Prince Christian Lind and Prince Gustav. She loves Christian and hopes that over the four years Gustav will find someone else to marry. When Christian arrives in London to handle a trade agreement between England and Sweden, she is tasked with introducing him to Society. In order to access members on the trade project, they need to pretend to be engaged. But faking an engagement becomes difficult when Erika desires a real engagement. Can they change their parent’s plans and be together?
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Promise To The Swedish Prince, by Sasha Cottman readers will enjoy. Sasha writing takes on a trip to the lovely country of Sweden. Her terrific writing shares the romantic love story of Christian and Erika. The two star cross lovers has known each other their whole lives. They secretly held from each other the love that they had for one another.
Before this love could be heard Erika is whisk away to London with the sealed contract to marry Christians brother. This snaps Christian out of the fog that he’s in. He then sets to win her hand. You will find this funny and a joy to read. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
Despite his illustrious title, Prince Christian Lind of Sweden is still the youngest son of a youngest son and has no wealth or lands beyond his title. to make matters worse, he’s just realized his true feelings for his childhood friend, Erika, when she is on the verge of being pushed into an understanding with his older brother.
Now with Sweden stepping into European politics, Christian sees his chance to prove himself as a diplomat. His mission to secure a trade agreement sends him to England where Countess Erika Jannson happens to be living with her father. Her English is nearly flawless and she knows everyone important so she’s the perfect candidate to help him achieve his goals. But in order to get invited to the right parties and meet the truly influential people, they need to be a couple. Christian’s solution is a fake engagement which soon sees them both beloved by English high society. As Erika works to quell her long-standing feelings for Christian, she knows it’s a losing battle. Meanwhile, Christian is trying his best to ease Erika into the idea of making their engagement real and finally capturing the heart of the woman he loves.
This was an enjoyable read for me and I liked the characters and the unique plot. I loved Christian’s focus and determination to achieve his goals, including marrying Erika. What annoyed me here was how long it took for these two to be honest and confess their true feelings to each other. Then the removal of the supposed barriers keeping them apart happened so fast it seemed anticlimactic and made the ending feel rather abrupt. I would’ve loved more of an exploration of Gustav’s reaction to the marriage. Nonetheless, I appreciated this as a light and entertaining read with a charming couple I was happy to root for.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really love Sasha Cottman’s books and this one did not disappoint. She has given us a new twist on Regency England with a story that is based around Swedish Royalty and Swedish titled characters in London.
Prince Christian, youngest son and his brother Gustav Lind, the heir, grew up with Countess Erika Jansson, daughter of Count Jansson who served the King as a foreign diplomat. At some point in time, Christian and Erika started to have feelings for one another but neither would admit it to the other one. Erika has been promised to marry Gustav after she and her father return from London in four years.
Christian waited too long to tell Erika of his feelings, so he schools himself to become a diplomat and the King sends him to London to negotiate a trade deal. The adventures that Christian and Erika have in obtaining their HEA includes a fake engagement, meeting London’s “right” people for his negotiations, romance. There is not a lot of drama – just an enjoyable and entertaining book!
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
I really enjoy taking a trip to regency London and this time I got to go to Sweden first I do love travelling the world while reading and Sasha Cottman has again written a story that is sure to pull a reader in with characters that are real very lovable, I do hope that you pick this one up and get to know Prince Christian and Countess Erika, I do love a royal story.
Prince Christian is a younger son and as such has spent a lot of time enjoying life while his older brother Gustav is steadfast, they have been friends with Erica for many years and Gustav is going to make her his bride as she will be best at being a princess, but Christian has his eyes on Erika. Erika and her father move to England and Christian throws himself into work and study to become a diplomat so as he can go to England and be with Erika.
Countess Erica knows that the plans by her father and Gustav’s father is that they will marry in time it will be a good match but Erika is more inclined to spend time with Christian he is much more fun, but England calls and she goes to help her father in the diplomatic roll, but when Christian arrives two years later and needs her help to get a trade agreement going between their countries he suggests they have a fake engagement, will she be able to keep her heart from being broken.
I really did enjoy this story, beautifully written with heartfelt emotions and a very beautiful romance that has a few ups and downs before they finally get the much deserved HEA and sensually and wonderfully so. I do highly recommend this story and any of Sasha Cottman’s stories she has never disappointed me with one of them, I loved this one.
Christian has been in love with Erika for years. When she left Sweden for London, he thought he had lost his chance to win her heart. But when an opportunity arises, he makes sure to be the one that goes to London. Now the only obstacle is the fact that Erika has been promised to his brother…
Erika is ecstatic to learn that Christian is in London and when he needs a place to stay, she offers up her home. When Christian needs her help navigating through the ton, he jumps at the chance. But they soon learn that they need to take that help a bit further. Christian needs a wife or at least the appearance of one.
Christian and Erika announce their engagement. This opens up the doors that they need for Christian to do his diplomatic work. But it also opens up the chance that they will both get their heart broken. Because what each of them don’t know, is that the other is secretly in love with the other. Will it all work out in the end?
I loved Christian and Erika’s story!! I always love a great friends to lovers story and this was one of the best. There was a lot of anguish for both characters and I just kept saying to myself, just tell him/her that you love them!! But that would have made for a very short story, LOL!
Promised to the Swedish Prince is the best Sasha Cottman book yet! I loved Erika. She is someone to admire and stays true to herself throughout the book. Christian grows from a reckless youngest son to a highly respected diplomat with help from Erika and with a strong sense of his own worth. In a culture where the eldest son has the most value it is not an easy path. I am looking forward to more books in this series and know that they will be equally great. The descriptions of the two cities and the differences made me feel like I had been there.
This is my honest review after reading an ARC and purchasing the book.
Sasha Cottman is a wonderfully talented author! I always enjoy her books immensely. I really enjoyed Christian and Erica‘s story.
This is a sweet love story of two people who were friends as children and grew up together. Erika has to moved to London for four years with her father, a diplomat. Before moving her father arranges for her to marry Prince Gustov, Christian’s brother and the heir to the Swedish throne when they return to Sweden.
The problem is Christian, the youngest son is in love with Erika but failed to realize and express his feelings before she left. Christian studies to be a diplomat and plans to go to London to woo Erika. As friends she introduces him to society but London society is a tough crowd and in order to make the right connections Christian suggests they engage in a fake engagement all the while hoping he can get Erika to realize how much they love one another and make it real.
This is such a well written, fun and sweet story that will entertain you. I had hoped to hear more of Gustav and his reaction to their engagement but I suspect we’ll find out about Gustav soon. I can’t wait! Thank you so much Sasha for this charmingly, delightful story of true love.
They grew up as childhood friends, but could there ever be more?
Prince Gustav, his younger brother Prince Christian and Countess Erika grew up together in Sweden. Christian and Erika were the best of friends and each began to have feelings for the other, when suddenly Erika had to go with her father, a diplomat to England. But before she leaves, there were talks of her to marry Gustav when they return to four years.
Meanwhile Christian pines for her but eventually finds a way to be assigned as a diplomat for the king and travels to England. He cannot wait to see Erika!
Such a wonderful story that takes a journey for these two to find their happy ever after! It takes awhile but in the end…. yes all will be well!
I love Sasha Cottman and enjoy everything she writes!
I’ve always liked Sasha Cottman. Her Regency Rockstars series is a very fun read, so when I got the chance to review one of her newest books, I jumped at it.
And I’m glad I did.
Promised to a Swedish Prince was a very quick, very sweet story about a never-to-inherit Prince Christian and the woman of his dreams, Countess Erika. They’re childhood friends, but somewhere along the line, they started developing feelings for each other, as expected. They decide to be noble and hide those feelings from each other (also expected). She’s promised to his more arrogant brother, much to the mutual dismay.
So when she’s sent off to London for four years, he’s at a loss of how to pursue her since, of course, he waited too long. The rest of the story is how he goes about it.
I liked this book. It’s short, but that’s not a problem. I often come across stories that seem to go on and on for no other reason than to pad page count. This one is simple and sweet. I liked the characters right off the bat. Christian is a cinnamon roll; absolutely adorable. Erika is smart, sweet, and dutiful. Their chemistry is good, though not electric. And the sex is hot… perfect for them and their relationship. I do wish Cottman had explored Gustav’s reaction to their “engagement.” He was an arrogant jerk, and deserved something.
Overall, I liked this book. It’s a fun, quick, summertime read. I can’t wait to read the next one!
I received and ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a delightful story, very well written with wonderful characters. Something different with the Swedish nobility as the main characters, usually it’s the French or Americans involved in regency romances. Christian and Erika were engaging to read, childhood friends with hidden feelings for each other and wrapped up in a diplomatic mission kept it intriguing. It wasn’t overly dramatic but a light enjoyable, engaging well written story.
Swedish Princes Gustav and Christian both want to marry Erika. Gustav wants the position and land she will bring him. Christian wants to marry for love. Christian and Erika love each other, but they have never voiced their feelings. When Erika leaves with her father for a four-year diplomatic assignment in London, Christian learns that she is sort of promised to Gustav. He decides it’s time to shape up and prove himself. He becomes a diplomat and assigned a post in London. Will this be his chance to win Erika? Can convince her and her father that he is worthy and the right man for her?
This is a charming and entertaining story. There’s little action and no big villain, just a delightful romance. I found the characters quite likeable. Erika is sweet and bright. Christian started out a little reckless, but did some growing up. Gustav is considered staid and wise. He is the Crown Prince after all. Really, I think Gustave is full of Gustav. This a fun read. I enjoyed it.
I received an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.
Promised to the Swedish Prince is a feel-good story you will love! This is a fun, well-written story without a lot of drama while maintaining enough emotional draw between the main characters. The steamy factor is pretty good, too.
Prince Christian, Prince Gustav, and Countess Erika grew up playing together in Stockholm, Sweden. It wasn’t until Erika was leaving with her father, bound for a four-year diplomatic position in London, that Christian realized the extent of his feelings toward Erika. A position where Erika’s father would gain power, more so if she had royal connections. However, those royal connections would only come from Prince Gustav, the heir, and not Prince Christian – the younger son. Unfortunately, Erika knows Prince Gustav only sees her as a means to an end, his way of gaining power and land. Before they leave, her father and Gustav come to an agreement. Oh, she is moving toward a betrothal with what her heart sees as the wrong man!
Prince Christian is determined to win Erika from Gustav. He is educated to be a diplomat and attains a position in London. Erika, having a better knowledge of the English language and society, offers to help him with his plans. How do they manage the barriers of high society? They fake their engagement so they can be together, and Erika can lend her assistance. But what happens when their feelings start to grow?
I truly enjoyed the friends-to-lovers story by Sasha Cottman! I do have two small complaints (and they are little). The first is how long it took Christian and Erika to declare their feelings for each other. This took a while and I felt if they had done so earlier, there could have been more “together” time in the story. The second is we don’t get to see Gustav’s reaction to their engagement and wedding. He was such a jerk and deserved a set down, which I for one would have liked to have seen.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
An interesting read dealing with childhood friendships and family expectations. And will the friendships last through family strife. You will have to read. A recommended read.
Prince Christian has feelings for Erika. The only problem is – she is engaged to his brother, the Crown Prince. I received an ARC of this book.

My review :
Will they be able to reveal their true feelings before there is no turning-back …
After discovering Mrs Cottman’s talent with her Regency Rock Stars series, I was curious to read more by her.
And she does not disappoint, both her main characters are very likable.
Erika and Christian while having been born at the top of the ladder are no conceited persons, they are kind and caring and on Christian’s side, a bit wild.
Both developed deep feelings for the other but are oblivious of them being shared. And while for a time, it was entertaining to see them at every turn missing their mark, I would have liked them to resolve their relationship conundrum earlier than at the very end.
This lovely story has no villains, just people so set on their path, they are blind to one another.
Christian knows being a prince is not the answer to his every dreams, he wants to show he can be more than a reckless young man, to be of a use for his country. So he sets for himself a new path, one he hopes will also bring him closer to Erika.
Yet, as he is able to compartmentalize and works the more urgent work first, by having kept his sentiments silent, he also hurt her.
While Erika tries to put boundaries to their fake betrothal thinking it will protect her heart. When staying distant sends also a wrong message.
In all a lovely tale of two persons obviously in love but thoroughly short-sighted of one another’s feelings.
4.5 stars
I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
