Tess is halfway to becoming an architect when she has to quit school and move back in with her mom to help with her step-dad who has terminal cancer. When she bumps into Rand getting coffee, she unloads her life on him…little does she know, Rand is her new boss and he can’t keep his hands or his mouth off of her.
This was a fun, steamy little read, and I really enjoyed both characters. The only issue I had was how often Rand told Tess she was his. While I enjoy the alpha male type, just the sheer repetition of the word “mine” drove me bonkers. Otherwise, it was great and I recommend.
I adored this book. It was cute and sweet and I loved Rand. He was a wonderful book boyfriend. Great fast read.
i really enjoyed this read. tess’ life had been turned upside down, having to return from college and help her mother out. hoping to start a new job and meeting a stranger in the coffee shop was all too much for her. the stranger rand, saw her and wanted her. he would do anything to make her his. its a sweet and sexy romance with sad and real life problems getting in the way of a true connection even when life gets hard, you work harder and see the rewards. great short read.
I liked this story a lot, it was very relatable. It was entertaining and had a lot of feels. The characters are interesting and well developed. I got a kick out of Jesse and Thayer, they were hilarious.
Tess is usually Miss Calm, Cool and Collected but when things get crazy, she’s a little overwhelmed. She had to quit school, move in with her mom, and find a job to help out because of her stepdad’s terminal illness. Tess meets a hottie that gives her a pep talk before her interview. She gets a job and she starts to feel like things are starting to work out. When Tess finds out the hottie she met is her coworker she is excited to have someone she already knows (kinda) at her new job. The two of them really hit it off, but is it just a temporary thing or more?
Rand owns his own company and always knew nothing would stand in his way, not even his past. He meets a cutie at a coffee shop and finds out about what’s going on with her and her life. Rand had decided that he wanted her to be his when he saw her, but after learning more about the curvy woman, he wants her even more. He wants to be there for her, he just has to convince her.
Rand wanting them to get to know each other was so sweet. Tess helping her mom and stepdad made me want to cry, I wasn’t prepared! I felt that Rand giving Tess and her mom time and then coming for her was the absolute best. I liked how the story ended, but I wish there was an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book!

Quick read about Tess and Rand. Loved them as a couple. Great chemistry and attraction between them. There is a little drama that will come between the couple and a tragedy but it will bring them closer in the end. Loved this quick read.

Tess is going on an interview for a job she isn’t really qualified for. She stops in to order coffee and finds out she left her wallet at home. Up steps Rand to buy her coffee. They sit down and start talking and he finds out Tess is interviewing at his company. He pulls a few strings and makes sure Tess gets the job. Rand is determined to make Tess his wife but when Tess finds out he owns the company and didn’t tell her – things get tense. Both Tess and Rand are very independent, confident individuals which makes for an crazy, hot and entertaining story. It’s a quick little read which will leave you with a good feeling. Enjoy!

Tess’s stepdad was the best father figure she could’ve ever asked for. He loved her mom, he loved her. Coming home to help care for him in his last days was a no brainer. So she came and settled into her re-adjusted life, looking for a job in the process. The construction job sounded promising. The day of the interview wasn’t off to that bad of a start, until she forgot her wallet and a kind stranger paid for her coffee shop purchase. A shared cup and deep conversation opened an unseen door to what could, and would, be life-changing.
To Rand, the young woman he bought coffee for was the most beautiful person he’d ever seen. Stolen moments at the shop let him wanting more. Finding out she applied to work for his company presented the opportunity of a lifetime. She meant more than any deal or his net worth. If she didn’t know who he really was for just a little bit longer, what could it hurt?
The attraction is there. The want for more is there. But a relationship built on a secret is off to a rocky start. When push comes to shove, will Tess let Rand’s lapse in judgement be the only reason she walks away? Or will she see it from his point of view, forgive him, and let him be her everything like she is his?
This was insta-everything with a touch of complications nestled in the heartwarming love and deep-seated grief of a child for her father-figure. It’s cute, sweet, just steamy enough, and a good read.

Loved it, as I do everything by Liz Fox! First off, a sexy, possessive, rugged alpha of a man who is also a construction company boss – YUM! Second, a young lady willing to leave school, move home and find a job, and support her mother, all because the step-father she barely knows is dying – Sweet beyond words and strong to boot. I loved the dynamic between Rand and Tess, the fire and heat and caring and compassion. And I must say, I loved the cameo on Vincent Street at the end! I’m very excited to see what comes next!

Blame it all on her hobo bag
Rugged Boss is the second book in the Bad Bosses series but Rand is definitely not a bad boss……well unless you count that he got involved with the young and tenacious Tess.
Tess was in college to get her architect degree but decided to drop in her last year so that she could move back home and help look after her mother and her dying stepfather. One way she is going to help is financially. So after looking over all the job postings she found one which get her into a company that custom builds homes for rich people. On the way to the interview she stops for a coffee only to find that she left her wallet at home when she switched everything in her hobo bag to her stepfathers briefcase that she borrowed, she figured it would make her look more professional. The man standing behind her in line tells the barista that he will pay for her coffee. He then ushers to a table and goes back to get their coffees and a muffin before rejoining her.
Rand started his own company custom building homes for the wealthy in town. He has worked hard to make the company successful and they definitely are. When he stops for his usual coffee order on his way into work he sees a curvy woman in a tight black pencil skirt standing in front of him and he is more than attracted. When she tells the barista that she has forgotten her wallet he sees an opportunity to talk with her and takes it. He is a man who knows not to pass up a good opportunity.
The first meeting of Tess and Rand is not the only fun in their story. I found the book was well written with an interesting story-line that had some drama caused by someone not being completely honest, sorrow, romance and of course a strong and sizzling connection between Tess and Rand that is on a deeper level. There are some missteps but there is also truthful honesty which gets things back on track easily. An enjoyable book with a great epilogue.
This is Tess and Rand story. Tess is going for a job interview when she decides to stop in at a coffee shop. She runs into Rand. She tells him her life story which includes a job interview at his construction company. They meet at the job but he didn’t tell her it was his company. Good relatable story with relatable characters. I like seeing the vulnerability of the characters. Tess is vulnerable because of what she is going through. Rand is vulnerable because he has never been in love and he doesn’t know what to do plus the situation Tess is in isn’t exactly fixable. The story flows smoothly.
