JEAN
The past has a way of catching up with you, even if you are immortal. I’ve spent thousands of years as the valet and companion to the powerful King of All Shifters. It has been my honor and duty to protect, serve, and advise him. I never intended to fall in love with him. My past is filled with death and bloodshed, but I never once regretted keeping Alarick safe. Now an evil I thought long … thought long gone has resurfaced, determined to kill Alarick and plunge the world into chaos. Saving Alarick means revealing the truth about myself. I don’t know what’s worse, failing to protect the king I love, or watching him turn away from me in disgust when he discovers what I really am.
KING ALARICK
As King of All Shifters, my powers are connected to the cosmos, and I have been around since the dawn of time. There are few things that can kill me. Unfortunately, one of those things has escaped its prison and is set to destroy me. The only weapon that can defeat this creature is the Scythe of Kronos, which has been missing for nearly as long as I have lived. When Jean and I set out on a quest to find the scythe, questions I had long ignored must now be answered. What is Jean’s connection to this evil? Why will he trust me with his life but not his secrets? As my most trusted valet, and my greatest friend, surely nothing that happens along this perilous journey can change what I feel in my heart for him. Or can it?

5 Stars!
The King and His Vigilant Valet is book 3 in the Paranormal Princes series, which should be read in order for maximum enjoyment.
I’ve wanted to read King Alarick and Jean’s story, since we met them in book 1, and it was fabulous! Alarick and Jean were so perfect for each other and the chemistry between them was out of this world. It took King Alarick a long time to see Jean as more than his valet and his trusted friend, but once he did, it was everything I’d been hoping for. And Jean, well, I didn’t see his secret being what it was, but it worked out perfectly in the end. He was just so resourceful and the true mastermind behind King Alarick’s meddling ways, LOL.
This was a fantastic read. Light and fun, action-packed and entertaining, just what I needed at the moment. Highly recommended!

This was a wonderful book to end this year. I absolutely loved it. I loved the world-building from the book prior and loved it in this as well. I loved how it was setup and the storyline was very good. I loved learning about what Jean is and what it all means and his backstory. I also adored King Alarick’s backstory and getting to meet several shifters from his past. I just loved everything about this book. I loved all the shifter children and the shifters from the other books. I cannot wait to go back and read the first of this series. Greg Boudreaux who did a great job capturing both Jean and King Alarick!! And OMG, that epilogue was soooo wonderful.
Received ARC from GRR in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: Overall/Narrator/Story:
I don’t know what I want to talk about first; my mind is darting between all of the things I loved about this story!
Favorite quote: (Owen) “Ewwwww. The dads are getting all lovey dovey.”
Adorableness: Anytime King Alaric’s and Jean snuggled in their shifter form, especially the last time, at the end of the book. My heart is full of all the lovey dovey stuff.
Battle of the Battles (not sure which one was better): The epic showdown with Nathair or the war with the squirrels.
This was a fun, fast paced, adventure filled story. I had a feeling, since book one, that we would get to witness King Alarick’s love story. It wasn’t going to be a surprise who his true mate was. King Alarick was the only one oblivious to it. That, in itself, was adorable. Jean was perfect for him. I felt so bad for Jean’s fears over his secrets getting out, but I had faith in Alarick.
This book will better enjoyed if you’ve heard/read the previous two. We see past characters, along with a ton of characters we’ve never met, and some events discussed will be confusing if you haven’t. They’re just as delightful as this one, so it’s no hardship. These stories were well written and full of lovable characters, who are all well developed.
Greg Boudreaux did a phenomenal job with this book, as well. I am very impressed that he used the same voices he originally gave the characters, from the previous books. All too often former main characters get new voices when they pop up in future books. It irritates me, but it’s usually the norm—in my experience. Not so, here. Hats off, Mr. Boudreaux; I’m impressed.
The King and His Vigilant Valet is the third book in the Paranormal Princes series. At least one of the other books in the series should be read before this book in order to get some needed background details. This book was my favorite of the series since it featured a slowburn (over thousands of years!) friends-turned-lovers trope. The slowburn was mostly off page, but when the two main characters finally get together, the emotions and love was stunning. There was a lot of fluff and humor throughout the book along with a thrilling plot that kept the book’s pace moving fast.
The audiobook was narrated by Greg Boudreaux who did a great job with all the character’s voices. I thought his performance was well done and easy to follow along with. I was kept thoroughly entertained and enjoyed the audiobook.
Loved this book and the series
Charlie does it again, great series with Shifters of every sort and a story I have no idea how she comes up with.
King Alarick:
As King of All Shifters, has an enemy who has the power to kill the immortal King. His loyal valet Jean tries to keep him alive whilst keeping his true identity a secret. Will the two of them succeed.
These books have been brought to life by Greg and his does a brilliant job.
Would recommend to anyone who lives Shifters, paranormal who has an imagination to take themselves into Charlie’s world.

This was a fun series.
What a fabulous ending to this lovely little series. I’ve loved Jean and Alarick from the beginning of book one. This book made me laugh out l9ud, catch my breath and ends with an Awwww that’s so cute.
I have really enjoyed this series, and this was a perfect ending. I love these creative characters and their adventures. Jean has supported his King for years upon years, but he has secrets he fears could turn Alarick away. Hard to believe two people could be together so long and not make the connection to the love they each felt for the other, but sometimes the time and circumstances have to be just right. There are some steamy scenes and an eventual battle to end the evil that threatens. At less than 100 pages, this is a short book, but it is extremely satisfying.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
As a huge fan of Charlie Cochet’s books I was ecstatic when I received this book as an ARC. As the next one in the series now is the story of King Alarick’s and his “valet”. A complex plot full of surprises and unexpected revelations especially when following the series since the beginning. Of course, at the end love won and everything settled just fine. An amazing reading! The best in the series so far!
