Alpha-preg. Enemies-to-lovers. Boss/Subordinate. May/Dec.
Jesse Sinclair has secrets. A mountain of them. At twenty, newly-rescued from a human trafficking ring, he’s eager for a new beginning. That means not looking at his case files, and not knowing what his captors have done to him. It’s all in the past. It doesn’t matter anymore.
Except it does, when his PTSD gets him off on the wrong foot … wrong foot with his fire station deputy, Dom. Dom is alpha-as-hell, twice his age, and it’s clear he doesn’t want Jesse on the team. Jesse joins the station family anyway, and everyone welcomes him with open arms. That is, everyone but Dom, who challenges him to drinking matches.
Dom, who subdues him during his panic attacks.
Dom, who kisses him and pretends it didn’t happen.
But the biggest secret is the one even Jesse doesn’t know—back in the Facility, his body was altered. Something Jesse should’ve discovered before following Dom home one night.
The simmering heat between them explodes. Jesse ends up conceiving a child. He’s not prepared for this at all.
Alpha in Heat is a 84k-word standalone slow-burn non-shifter MPreg romance, with two very aggressive alphas, secret donut gifts, an accidental pregnancy, and a station family who loves them both despite their quirks.

These alphas fight for dominance everywhere…even during intimacy!
And that’s how they like it…rough and shared.
Jesse Sinclair had a very bad back story. He was abducted, experimented on and tortured by a psycho doctor who is now imprisoned and Jesse is free. He’s applying for his first job as a firefighter in Meadowfall. For whatever reason Jesse and his Deputy in the squad, Dominic McCoy do not hit it off. They act like too tigers snarling and gnashing teeth at each other all while circling in a cage. Jesse can’t explain this because he’s so naive, while Dom, twice Jesse’s age, is afraid to be attracted to him b/c of his experience with Mal. Let me just say, when they finally figure out that they like to fight in bed as much as anywhere else (wink), things get very HOT. Since these guys are both alphas, neither can explain the fascination but it’s there. Secret experiments give both these hot guys a big surprise. But there are other even more scary surprises in their future. Will their relationship survive?
This book was written so well and the scenes between these two guys so HOT that I dare you to get up to get a drink while reading. When Jesse shares some of his past with Dom, things between them start to change. A really touching moment in Chapter 32 occurs when Dom makes his grand declaration of affection, which is especially poignant when you envision a big burly alpha saying it! I loved this book. It’s an explicit M/M hot mpreg romance. Keep that in mind. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes highly recommended for readers who enjoy steamy M/M enemy-to-lover romance.
Covers not bad either 😉
Alpha in Heat by Anna Wineheart this story deals with many troubling themes, I loved how Ms. Wineheart handles them with grace and believability. The blend makes this story completely unique and memorable.
There are trigger warnings the author has put in before you read the story. I will tell them here, on page torture, past torture, past human experimentation, past organ transplant/ additions, past lover suicide, self-harm ideation, consensual dubcon play, some violence, some gore.
This is also and enemies to lovers’ story and has mpreg in it. Though not what you would expect.
Jesse suffers from PTSD. He is 20 years old and has lived through hell. The things Jesse has suffered is horrific. The fact he is a decent human after all that makes him a hero I love. He has a strength of spirit and deep loving nature. Such a strong character. I loved him a lot.
Dom, he is alpha and the fire station deputy. At first, I could not stand this character. He was judgmental and overall mean to Jesse. When you peel back the layers and see why he is the way he is, you begin to like him more and more. When you find his heart of gold you are cheering for him and Jesse to be together.
This story is a slow burn, has a few time jumps as well. Overall a great read. You do not have to read this series in order to get this storyline.
If you want a deeply emotional read that you will never forget I highly recommend picking this one up.
Five Shooting Stars
This was one of the most intense books in this angst-filled series. I really liked both Jesse and Dom, though they had a long and difficult road to happiness. I found myself wishing they didn’t always need their sex to be so rough, especially at one point when they both had serious wounds that needed to heal. Both men had backgrounds that were heartbreaking, and I was happy to see them eventually find a new beginning together. I will never look at donuts the same way! This is the last book in the Meadowfall Firefighters series. I’ve enjoyed this world and the alphas and omegas who live there.
Alpha in Heat by Anna Wineheart is absolutely amazing. The story has emotion, angst, steam, humor… there is a great enemies to lovers vibe. The background of each character built them to be who they are and made what they are fit so well. I adore Jesse and Dom along with the supporting characters. I love it!.
Jesse has been experimented on. Taken at a young age, this Alpha has too many scars to show for it. What he doesn’t know is that that torture is not over. When he meets his new boss, all he gets is negative vibes. They hate each other for years until they find common ground. But is it too late? I felt for Jesse Sinclair, all the pain and self consciousness he keeps hidden and the love he deserves. Dom is a very aggressive alpha, but that just brings spice to the table. And donuts, all the donuts.
OMG, I’ve never read anything better by this author.
Jesse was so insecure about being an alpha after having experienced torture and slavery for so many years. As a result, he has spent the series, up until this point, overcompensating.
Dom, once he got out of his own way, was the perfect match for Jesse. I loved that he always helped Jesse to recognize his strength and value. Dom couldn’t have handled an omega mate, but being with Jesse helped them both to heal and grow so beautifully.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
My heart broke a million times while reading this. When Larson reappeared I had tears in my eyes and bile in the back of my throat. I was in despair when Larson revealed his disgusting plans for Jesse. Larson was pure evil incarnate! I laughed, I cried, I wanted to puke! I felt rage, empathy, and love. I was completely wrung out and undone by the story’s end, but in the best way possible. Thank you Anna for another memorable story and characters I loved and was invested in. An emotional masterpiece!! Great ending.
