A Cotswolds village—a Fall Fête—TWO four-legged sleuths—and a murder!
Leta Parker is back with her talkative companions—Dickens the dog and Christie the cat.
Though Leta’s still haunted by her tragic loss, moving from Atlanta to the village of Astonbury has given her a new lease on life.
Leta’s days are filled with yoga, book club, walks with Dickens, naps with Christie, and outings with … Christie, and outings with friends. Add preparations for the Astonbury Fall Fête—complete with scarecrows, pumpkins, and costumes—and she’s beyond busy.
All is well until a dead body is discovered on the riverbank, and once again, Leta and her sleuthing girlfriends are drawn into a search for a killer—a search that takes them to Dartmouth on the coast of England.
Will touring Agatha Christie’s summer home help them access their inner Miss Marples?
Will Dickens sniff out clues closer to home? Or will Christie the cat outthink them all?
Discover the answers—and a recipe—in Pumpkins, Paws, & Murder, book two in Kathy Manos Penn’s Cozy Animal Mystery Series.

Delightful cozy mystery. I love the Dickens and Christie – the dog and cat – their humans, and the beautiful setting.
Feels like returning to visit favorite friends
I loved Kathy Manos Penn’s first book in this series (Bells, Tails and Murder). There is an intelligent flow to the merriment and intrigue in her writings. So pleased that I purchased this 2nd book; Pumpkins, Paws & Murder. Continuing the quaint setting of her first book creates a cozy feel of returning to visit favorite friends. These fun, clean mysteries are comprised of such easy natural conversations which sit me right alongside Leta, Wendy, Peter, or Belle, sipping wine or tea and chatting. Another favorite thing: the author gives the reader an index of characters in the front of the book. This clearly identifies who’s who – a simple but powerful tool which immerses the reader seamlessly into the story right away. Can’t wait for the next book! Kathy Manos Penn’s books are smart, well researched and recommended adventures for all cozy mystery fans!
What a great cozy mystery read. It’s got a dog, a cat, older sleuths, and a murder in a small hometown feeling neighborhood. Perfect for snuggling in and reading on a cold autumn day. The book also has a list of characters, a map of the town, and recipe. All the ingredients needed to solve a mystery.
Another fun adventure with Leta and the ladies and gentlemen and all of the fur baby assistants. The town is so rich with wonderful characters. The complex mystery will keep you hooked. Looking forward to more adventures
Another fun read in this pet-centric series with loads of help from her fur babies, the MC and her friends uncover motives for the murder of a young man whose charming manner couldn’t hide an abusive nature. I really enjoyed the sweet interactions between the MC and her friends – both animal and human.
It’s Autumn in the Cotswolds and the village of Astonbury, England is having their annual Fall Fete. Preparations have been underway and all seems to be going well when things start. But when a body is found on the riverbank near the inn, things come to a halt for Trixie, the niece of the woman who runs the book shop, who has been trying to divorce the man. Leta, with her talkative dog and cat Dickens and Christie, joins her friends, Wendy and Belle, in the investigation trying to gather clues to clear Trixie. Their leads them to Dartmouth on the coast of England to find out just what kind of man Max was.
I loved the first book in this new series and this book was just as wonderful. I was so entranced by them that I actually bought them even though I could have gotten them through Kindle Unlimited. This book was well-written with well-rounded characters. I was hooked from the beginning and kept ensnared all the way through to the end. I laughed out loud in places and cheered in others while being totally captivated with the characters. I especially love Dickens and Christie and how they talk with Leta. The identity if the killer isn’t easily identified so you’re kept guessing and are never really sure. I’m really looking forward to the next book and hope it comes out soon. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
