This is the most volatile dark love story ever! I mean these two are not right for each other at all, but they burn so good together it’s not even a question of why. Yes , their relationship don’t make sense to anyone, but do we really know what kind of love we want in life without a little danger mixed in? Granted Art is the most effin individual ever but the love he has for Cin is an undeniable love, it’s toxic, it’s dangerous, but to each his or her ownCin loves her crazy man Art to the bone and no one I mean no one can make her stop. Author Lorrain Allen is unapologetically amazing, she didn’t sugar coat anything in this book, I see it as fiction and real life, Let’s face it no one can tell me there isn’t this type of love out there in the world, Art is an acquired taste. You either take him as he is or not and Cin did exactly that. Thank You Author Lorrain Allen for this amazing read, it’s a definite recommendation from me.
I am not sure I have enough words describe how good this books truly was. I read it in one day. When it was all said and done, I still wanted more… Art has to be one of the most jealous/possessive guys I have every read about in a book. The love/hate that he feels for Cin knows no bounds, he takes it all next level and with some of the things he does to and for her. Some of which I don’t think I could have found my way back. This book is beyond a 5 Star read, more like a 10!!

STORY:
Whelp….. still walking away, needing therapy and traumatized. This book will definitely have the I love it and the no it’s degrading readers. So pick a lane. I’m thinking I fall in the middle. THE WHOLE BOOK, no joke I read in one sitting with my jaw to the floor catching flies. At 85% WTF, at 91% WTactualF and the whole damn book, WTFFFFFFFFFFFF.
In book two, I don’t think there is a word yet in the English dictionary created for Art. He surpasses manipulative, possessive and obsessive, he is worse than a stalker. He is so intense, literally your mind does not get a moments rest because of something that Art is doing. He goes from 0 to infinity in regard to anger. He is like the hulk but WORST!
Cin, if you are looking for a strong female character, she is not it. I give it to her though, she knew what they have been and is toxic and that toxicity was her drug of choice.
The story picks up 8 years later, so this is not high school like book one. Art is rich and now runs the family business. Cin, is broke and lives from check to check. See where I’m going with this? Art makes her an indecent proposal she could not refuse, thus, continuing their crazy relationship.
Honestly, it was an oncoming train that I know will crash but couldn’t look away. Was I appalled at Art’s behavior, yes, but it was a little exciting as well (I’m wired differently, what can I say) because I’m reading fictional characters. Their love was unlike anything I have read in a while, and I am obviously not talking about sweet and romantic.
CHEMISTRY:
Toxicity, possessiveness and obsessiveness breeds rough and crazy sex. That’s pretty much the entire book between Art and Cin. The ride was crazy, but I was here for it.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Out of this whole toxic crazy relationship comes Mason and Sebastian with such joy. I do detest, Art’s mother. She created and started this whole cycle. That was the only situation I wanted closure on after what she did to Mason.
OVERALL, basically, you are reading about a toxic and abusive relationship. I was shocked but not that much to stop reading.
TRIGGERS: THE WHOLE DAMN BOOK.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Adult Art is way more dark and dirty. You’ll love every single moment
Art was one rude bastard but I loved every minute of it! I loved that Cin still had her hooks in him after all that time despite him “hating” her with a passion. The character development with both characters was absolutely amazing. Cin had fire in her spirit this go around and Art was still Art but more deadly. He was more calculating and had the power to back him up. The scenes were very dark and had me cringing bc they were abusive but with Cin fighting back it made me feel better lol. I freaking loved this read as always. Adult Art and Cin are my favorite. There intense love reminded me of Edward and Bella but dark, it was so intoxicating for me. This isn’t for everyone but it’s for me!!
Holy bananas!! This book had me all twisted around. Not quite sure what to think. A very dark and sinister story that invites your dark side to come out and play. Cin and Art were both as bad as each other. He is an A*hole, and she kept going back for more. I suppose nobody can judge someone else’s story. I did enjoy this story, though parts were hard to read!!
Five Transformative Stars
I am pleasantly surprised by this. I absolutely hated Cin in the first book. I know I should have hated Art but Cin made me absolutely sick.
I was really happy to see how much she’d matured in this book. Maybe it was because of the time jump or maybe it was from being a mother …but she was almost unrecognizable. That is a testament to Lorrain’s writing skills. The transition from teenager to adult was remarkably captivating. For both characters.
Art was a broken boy and, due to the unfortunate circumstances with Cin, he became a broken man. I expected terribly destructive behavior from him this go around but Lorrain gave him the perfect responsibility to temper the beast within.
This is NOT a hearts and flowers romance. Art does not redeem himself and claim hero status. He is very much the same asshole we met in book one. But that doesn’t make him unworthy if your love. He’s problematic as hell. If you need trigger warnings, please do not read. This is far from a pretty story but it is breathtaking.
This is a story of a monster of a man …and the woman who loves him anyway.
I have been eagerly waiting to read Lorrain Allen’s novel When Art Falls: Living in Cin since immediately after I finished the first book in the series, When Art Rises: Living in Cin. I have been a fan of Ms. Allen’s writing for a while now, but this book was a little different than I was expecting. I thought the second book would pick up exactly where the first one left off, but I could not have been more wrong. A good deal of time has passed between WAR and WAF, which left me feeling like I missed out on the meltdown and aftermath at the end of book one. I felt like I missed some sort of closure or level of understanding by not seeing how that part of the story played out in real time. In the book blurb, Ms. Allen calls Art “an unapologetic, psychotic anti-hero”, which is a perfect description of him. I don’t have a problem reading dark romance, but Art seemed very unhinged and seriously irrational in his need for revenge against Cin for her perceived betrayal of him. In book one, Cin was a very strong young woman who was confident in herself. With all the drama and heartache that Art put her through, she gave as good as she got from him. In WAF, Cin feels like she’s lost her way in life and has become a weak woman, which is an incredible departure from her earlier disposition. Things between Art and Cin are combustible, which definitely ratchets up the tension in the story. I enjoyed WAF, but I would’ve liked to see Cin stand up for herself, assert her independence and not allow Art to treat her the way he does in this story. As I said, I am a fan of Lorrain Allen and I will continue to read her work.
I love to hate Art. Absolutely crazy book, and not for easily triggered readers, but an awesome book if you’re into dark romance!
When Art Falls knew when to try me, and it succeeded. I always thought I was not the one, but this book showed me I was ready to rumble, today. This book is full of hot suspensful romance, complete with the dark undertones that come through spectacularly.
Whew. What a ride with Art and Cin. Picking up years after “When Art Rises,” Art and Cin are now going through life trying to forget the events that lead up to the end of “WAR” while also unable to truly move on. Fate has decided they had enough of a breather and it’s time to put these two folks back in each other’s orbit. And what a loud bang that results from when they finally meet again.
Art is still abrupt and cynical, the events of “WAR” having hardened him even more. He’s thriving professionally but personally he is still incredibly bitter about what happened years prior. Cin is struggling to put her mistakes behind her and start anew but the past has a strong hold on her as well. These two now-adults spark like crazy but their history remains a wide gulf between them.
I appreciated how most everything played out in this romance. There’s one point where I thought Art went too far even though I understood his twisted reason but then reminded myself that he’s an anti-hero, an extremely jealous plus possessive one at that. Art and Cin are rarely healthy in their interactions yet there’s something fascinating in how they respond to one another. Art and Cin aren’t sweet nor simple in their love for each other but I found myself still rooting for them to find a way to resolve their past to build a future.
So darn good, please do yourself a favor and read this book!!!
This book took me on an rollercoaster ride.I have a love hate for Art. The love between the two characters,I just don’t know exactly how to explain it.The ending to a great story and if you’re into dar romance then this is your book. I would recommend
This was a great finish to part 1 I really was hoping that I will grow to love Art but his passive aggression love he showed Cin had me wanting to choke him for being the way he was.But there is a soft spot in Art somewhere that only Cin can bring out if he let her
This is a dark read but I’m open minded to anything long as the blurb is good bc if it hot, I most definitely want to know more about this read. Lorraine Allen books are excellent my first read by her was disturbing but too me realistic bc I’m pretty sure there are ppl out there that goes through something like that. I love everything from the scene but it was one part that was kind of degrading but Art is a twisted, psychotic man so of course it fits him…
I have been waiting for this book ever since I read the first book…I am not sure what I was expecting, but this was not it. Don’t get me wrong, I still really enjoyed this book, however, but it was not the story line I was expecting. I can’t pinpoint why, but this book left me unsettled. I love Lorrain Allen‘s writing. I love that she writes dark romance. I love the characters that she has created. In this book we saw a different side of Art, one that I think no one expected to see. We saw things that we never, ever thought Art would do. We also saw a different side of Cin…one that made me like her even more than I did in the first book. While this story line was not what I expected, it is one that I overall liked. The only think that I did not like about the book was the ending and I think that is what made me unsettled. I feel like things wrapped up to quickly and with a nice pretty bow. I wish there would have been more detail and more darkness than there was. Overall, Lorrain Allen is an author that I am so, so glad that I found. This and the first book in the series was my first taste of Lorrain’s writing, and I will be sure to pick up all of her other books!
First off, you have to read book one first. Do not attempt to read this as a standalone. Now, this book is fan-freaking-tastic and what an ending for these two! I did gasp and almost cry so I highly recommend it just on that alone. The story has an alpha anti-hero (my favorite) and everything else I look for in a dark read: dub-con, humor, aggressive/possessive man, strong willed loving lady who can hold her own, and heat and passion enough to melt your kindle. This book follows immediately after book one and follows the couple as they deal with the outcome of book one and try to get to their HEA. It is a hard one HEA but so worth the ride. Oh and the steamy scenes will have you gasping and taking notes, LOL. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review. 4.25 stars for this book and 4.5 stars for the duet as a whole!
Insane!
I didn’t think book 2 could be better the first in the duet, but it is absolutely incredible. Everything you want in your jealous, possessive, and domineering anti-hero. Book 2 follows Art and Cin’s unexpected reconnecting after their break up in the explosive conclusion of book 1. Art, a powerful and resourceful mogul, is on a campaign of revenge, unleashing a monster of retribution on the strong-willed and often defiant Cin.
One of the most volatile and passionately raw relationships I’ve ever read. Art is unpredictable and deviant as I’ve come to enjoy, and he’s met his match in Cin. I was often internally screaming by events that transpired in their stormy relationship. The love scenes were carnal, a manifestation of undeniable compulsion, obsession even, and so wickedly intense.
This story is definitely one of my all time best reads. Deliciously dark, steamy, and intoxicating delivered at a heart-pumping pace. Enjoy their love journey but definitely buckle up for the ride.
If you love toxic relationships and crazy antihero’s this book is for you! Art & Cin are so freaking toxic I crave it!! I loved that book 2 didn’t take you on the expected “happily ever after”. Their toxicity also didn’t just stop because it picked up later down the line. Art is determined to make Cin pay for what happened back in high school, and he makes her pay in his very special way. It was so steamy and dark and I was here for every bit of it! I may need to question my taste in men …. but that won’t be happening anytime soon LOL. I will continue to eat up every little bit of Lorrain’s dark and delicious men, as many as she wants to give us!
