Graham Evans,Marquess of Bolingbroke was out riding with friends. His horse was startled, and dragged Graham throwing him off breaking his arm. That very day Lady Arabella Weaver was walking in the park and saw this happen.
She ran to help this stranger in anyway she could. They were immediately attracted to each other. Graham is in need of a caregiver now. Arabella responds to an ad. Graham’s mother,Juliana, the Duchess of Bolingbroke interviews her for the position. She brings Arabella upstairs to meet Graham, and as soon as they see each other, their connection is reignited.
Graham hires her immediately, even though his mother did not take a liking to Arabella. Juliana considers her of the lowest station, a fortune hunter, and unsuitable match in her eyes. Juliana is stubborn, secretive, and deceitful spreading vicious rumors. Arabella is not concerned with money and titles, she cares more about what kind of heart this gentleman has,and his character.
Graham’s father, the Duke of Bolingbroke is all to famliar with this situation, but he sees Arabella’s redeeming qualities and is very supportive for Graham to pursue her.
I loved this story. A well written driven romance. Fanny Finch never disappoints me, when she sets a plot with engaging, compelling characters. This cast shows the ruthlessness of rumors, propriety, and emotional affects of their consequences.
Highly recommend.
Another fantastic novel by Fanny Finch. This one grabbed me from the first pages. Arabella Weaver is a young woman that is in the right place at the right time to save Graham Evans, the Marquess of Bolingbroke, after he falls off his horse and suffers serious injuries.
Luckily for Graham, Arabella has had some medical training and can help stabilize his broken arm. And when Arabella is hired by the Duke and Duchess of Bolingbroke to help care for their son while he recovers, it seems like gate has blessed them with a happy ever after.
Or not. The Duchess of Bolingbroke disliked Arabella from the beginning. And she is not shy about showing her displeasure with the growing closeness of Graham and Arabella. How far will she go to break them up? You have to read the book to find out. Lots of twists and turns. Enjoy the ride. I sure did.
I received a ARC of this ebook to read and give an honest review. I also purchased a copy of the finished book when it became available on Amazon.
This story epitomizes the enormously hard trials of true love. The h/H met under unusual circumstances and their relationship grew from friendship to love. The h is the kindest, gentle, thoughtful, caring, graceful, forgiving individual that the H has ever met. Even his father approved of her. But the mother was against her from the beginning. She did some dirty low blowing strikes to the h. How could the H reconcile his feelings for the h and his feelings for his mother? Through the push and pulls, low blows and embarrassments the H never gave up on the h. She however had her doubts because of his mother’s constant reminder of their difference in class. He was a marquess, heir to a dukedom. She was an orphan, daughter of an earl who grew up with her untitled aunt and uncle. But she never lost her true self even at her lowest she never forgot who she was. The H is a responsible, loving son to his parents. With his father ill, he took over managing the estates. He was also the kind of man that appreciated honesty and no games which he found with the h. He appreciated her. His appreciation grew more and more over time as he observed her incredible charitable Christian nature. A beautiful story, very realistic feelings and emotions. A lovely read.
